I have no knowledge on swordfighting but it I can tell they focused on making the moves as accurate as possible.

The anime adaptation has really done Surena dirty, compared to the manga.

Beryl: holds his hand out for a potion...
Surena: gives him a high five instead

WTF was that? I think anyone who did that would deserve to be immediately kicked out of the party, even if they were a "black" rank adventurer.
Surena in the manga really shows her superior knowledge of monsters and they use that to defeat the griffon. Also, it is much clearer that only Surena was capable of rescuing Porta, since the griffon was standing over him, guarding its prey.

However, otherwise I think the fight choreography in the anime was excellent, and much more realistic and grounded than what was shown in the manga. Beryl holds his stance and carefully parries the talons of the griffon, very cool to see in action.

The Specifically Designed Target Zeno Grable is proving a challenge for Beryl and Surena, though getting Porta and the rest of the party out is also another challenge yet. Still, for the bumpkin swordsman, trying to defeat it is a tall order, even when it emits lava to the bare survivability of the party, until Surena stepped in and covered their asses to put it to rest. Great work to the both of them though.

Curuni taking Beryl to her known blacksmith shop (with Allucia accompanying them), though he soon meets yet another student of his of Balder Gasp having fulfilled his dream of owning his own shop. And more than Curuni getting a new holster to replace her short sword, Surena wanting Balder to forge a sword off of one of the Zeno Grable's feet as compensation to her master, and the honour all goes to Beryl, though once again, Allucia fails to make her mark on the old man. With the new holster in hand, Curuni getting used to the Zweihander sword through her usual training is good and all, but Beryl almost getting pickpocketed by a girl, whom she belongs to a group of bandits, his premonition is giving him bad vibes.

Good or bad, Beryl knows he must deal with the root issue at hand.

Beast taken cared off and now he's gonna get an op sword from it. Even the smith is his student lol. Also Curuni's really strong physically, so ofc a shortsword wasnt cutting it. Another new character at the end. Is she his student too? Doesnt seem like it atleast.

Just found out this was getting an anime like 2 hours ago and went straight to watch it like a madman, the problem is that I wanted to watch this for the sole reason of seeing a specific manga panel animated.
What happened? They completely skipped multiple cool moments this episode alone, my favorite panel included.
I hope more manga chapters get translated because I'm dropping this right this moment. How can someone read the chapters this episode covers and say "Yeah, let's cut down the griffon fight to the first five minutes and also skip Curuni's development with 'ye, just get big sword, girl', and of course, let's just completely disregard the RAWEST panel in the whole series". Tf are these people doing...

The anime compared to the manga is really disappointing. The fights/action scenes have been heavily nerfed and changed. This particular fight with the zeno graybul was supposed to be epic but they cut out everything that made it epic and the old man and his student were supposed to fight together but that didn't happen. Even the design of the zeno graybul which was unique has now been changed to what is basically a griffin. Also this fight was paint drying-ly slow and boring as how all the fights so far have been but shouldn't be. I think I'll just drop the anime and focus on the manga.

I’m honestly grateful that the battle with the monster was balanced and tough — it genuinely felt like I was playing Dark Souls 3 for a while. If the anime had made Beryl into some kind of overpowered superhero, it would've quickly become boring. And credit where it’s due — the scene where a kid tries to steal from you on the road is something we’ve seen in pretty much every adventure anime, but here it didn’t feel lazy or repetitive.

Also, the fact that we haven’t seen any notable powers from Sorina is a bit disappointing, especially since she’s considered one of the stronger soldiers. Sure, Beryl defeated her, but that doesn’t mean she’s weak… And like I mentioned in the previous episode, the animation is weak — at first it didn’t affect the story much, but here it was very obvious during the monster battle. The fight wasn’t visually appealing and felt somewhat illogical, especially the lava scene.

Am I tweaking or am I the only one who enjoyed the fight I actually didn’t even think the fight was badly animated at all until I read the comments in this discussion like I don’t think a lot of you have truly seen what bad animation is tbh haha bc yall making it seem like the fight had some Ex-Arm level of animation😭

Anyway I liked the fight it seemed kinda realistic in a way to me bc Beryl was aiming for the monsters vital spots and not rushing like he’s in a shonen yk I guess that’s where the Seinen element comes in, and I liked the way Serena came in for the kill and chopped its head off she wasted no time at all🔥

Mewi has GOT to be fine I can just tell man she’s looking like a contender to Lucy for best loli in this show and I can’t wait to see her reveal😩😩😩

Im gonna say this on a whim here but I deadass feel like once Beryl sees Mewi he’s gonna be like “Mewi?? Is that you?” Bc he trained her💀💀
