Well... Hina is just heartbroken in this episode.
If she had that chance, she would be happy to have a relationship with Taiki.
She knows it very well, but he doesn't want to.

Taiki just broke her heart. ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ˜ข

Man this was a sad episode and a really beautiful episode at that. I can't remember when was the last time I watched such a high quality romance anime that I won't forget after 2 days. Characters are not one dimensional, they have personality and are likeable. I love every side character too. It's just a beautiful, by the book romance anime with a bit of sports mixed in and I love it. 9/10 from me and I'm very sad it has only one episode left.

And I forgot to ask if there will be possibly more seasons or is this story completed after 25th episode if any manga reader would be kind enough to answer without spoiling anything.

there's enough material for a season 2, they'll most likely just make only 12 episodes of it though. not 25 like this one

So much so, the ending of this episode caught me by surprise when Taiki actually pushed through Hina's attempts to silence him. It's hard for Hina right now but it's so important to get a clear "no" in the terrible downwards spiral she was catching herself in. It's still heart-breaking to see the initial reaction but I still felt relieved and glad for Hina (and Taiki and the whole story I suppose).
@Miragee agreed, bro. I personally don't mind the dragging in these past few eps, though. But yeah, takes a lot of courage on both ands, but giving this kind of response for a person you really like and admire is tough as hell. But up until this point Taiki has always been a direct guy, and I can only wait to see the growth this situation brings to our trio

Every childhood friends lose in romance Anime although Hina was better than chi-chan.Hina deserves more in this anime, I hope they don't make a season 2 of this anime. I can't imagine to watch Taiki x chi chan episodes in the S2. HINA IS THE BEST GIRL IN THIS SHOW SHE DESERVES MORE.

I knew what was going to happen thanks to all the untagged spoilers in the unmoderated episode discussion forums on this stupid site but this was still brutal to watch. I have always supported Chinatsu and that was never gonna change, but I still feel bad for Hina—poor girl.

Taiki really did the best thing here. Instead of dragging things further and keeping lying to himself, he chose the direct way and rejected Hina. Tbh it probably should've happened way sooner. Any later and it probably would've hurt Hina even more. Thanks to Moriya for making all this happen. I wonder how she feels now that she knows her push got Hina rejected lol. Also, Kyo had a point. Moriya jumped from one guy to another so she has no idea what Hina and all the others feel.

Only one episode left. Wonder how it's gonna end.

Ayame I kinda thought was a pointless character but I never hated her. But now I'm seeing really her purpose is just to progress this endless love triangle forward and for that I'm so happy she exists, but it would have been nice if she showed up maybe like 5-8 episodes earlier.

Once again I can't really draw anything from this show which makes it unique, I thought the sports element was actually handled very well but its been really pushed to the side to focus on this dragged out love triangle.

and as per usual the show will more or likely end on a confession. We hardly ever get a anime which has a perfect balance between being friends, being in love, confession, dating and so on. Obviously cause most shows don't go past 1 season. But seriously this show has dragged tf out with this

Even shows like Bloom into you for example they may not be dating properly in the anime but it poses a very interesting dynamic between the two main characters and handles a love triangle just fine. Hell even fruits basket does it well with having an interesting story to back up the romance.

But blue box just doesn't have that in my opinion. It could have with the sports but I feel like their not bringing that element out enough

Sklardrog said:
@Miragee Your take is spot on - the delays and bait & switches of the past 4-6 episodes distracted from the show's more mature elements and got too predictable. I wish the rejection happened ep. 18ish, allowing viewers to spend more time developing Chinatsu's character - which has been neglected among all the love-triangle drama.
I do hope we see more of Hina though, especially to see her reflect and learn. Though I was genuinely rooting for Hina (rip), Taiki was right about the status quo being unhealthy for both of them. Though Hina's campaign was fun in the moment, it sounded like by the end that she was too caught up in her head and was enjoying the high of catching Taiki off guard more than really enjoying him.

@Sklardrog Absolutely feel the same way about "I wish the rejection would have happened around ep18". As you said, this would have left space to develop Chinatsu's character _and_ deal with Hina's internal processes after her being rejected. I hope there will be some of that in a second season someday.

To your last point: To me it felt like she was starting to cope hard at that point; trying to convince herself she was enjoying it, feeling good about it and that it was the right thing to do. This type of thinking can be devastating because it gets harder and harder to break out of it by yourself (and even with help) since the sunken cost fallacy becomes stronger everyday, nurturing the voice telling you it's the only way.

@VMPrecoma Taiki has been as direct as you can ask of an emotionally confused teenager for sure. I feel like a big reason for that are Hina and especially Kyou he can talk to fairly freely about his feelings. It's so important to have friends like that to break the thought cycle inside your head.

you have to consider that the point of the anime is to boost manga sales, there needs to be a good amount of material left afterwards for people to read

actually i just checked the manga chapters and what the anime adapter, you're right, it can definitely go another 25 ep with more then enough chapters after

It was so painful to watch Hina crying like that :( On one hand, Taiki was right to refuse her because she never had a chance with him, but on the other hand, he could have been softer, IMHO. Now I wonder if they will stay friends or completely become strangers to each other. I would want Taiki × Hina as a couple too, but unfortunately, it has been foreshadowed from the beginning who Taiki is going to end up with.

if you know that there is enough material, u also know the point to only make 12 episodes and end on this certain Manga chapter, 104 or 105. and this being the end to the anime Adaption.

It was a well executed episode, but when the scenario itself is underwhelming there is only so much you can accomplish. I honestly didn't feel much this episode because of how emotionally manipulative the series feels forcing this love triangle. Everyone knew Hina would eventually get rejected and they dragged it out wayyy too long to try to build some emotional stakes that were just never present. Will be interesting to see what happens with Hina's character going forward as she's easily the best character in the show. Ayame may also become more interesting if she starts growing up some as a result of the events of the episode too.

This reminds me of season 2 of Tomozaki-kun except that series has a lot more other things going on for the story and characters. I also find Chinatsu much less interesting than her comparable "boring girl" option in Fuuka too. Honestly, most of the characters in Blue Box feel underwhelming overall except for Hina, even Taiki. They lack enough personality to be interesting to follow on their own as a viewer. We're mostly just watching for the situations the characters get put into compared to other romance series with better developed/more interesting characters. That's pretty damning 2 dozen episodes into a series. Hopefully that changes with a second season since they've laid some groundwork to expand on other characters like Ayame and Kyou, but when you focus so much time on 3 characters and neither of your 2 main leads really stand out compared to the losing heroine with much less screen time that's a pretty major problem.

As someone who was reading the manga since chapter 10 or so, it was so much worse when it was weekly. The entire "Hina's one-sided crush" arc took 30 chapters, so around half a year. It really dragged on to the point that I was ready to stop reading it weekly. This part (chapter 77) felt so liberating since we were finally free.
