i hate the idea of this 600+ page work being crammed into four episodes, but i could've looked past the sped up pace had the animation looked good, but this episode was atrocious

I do love the art of this series. Junji Ito is so powerful in black and white ... but everything happens just SO FAST. Stories from the manga just got thrown in so quickly.

I don't think I've ever seen something fall off this hard, this fast. And it's not like it's a pilot for a 12 episode show, it's only 4 episodes!

The turn from horror to comedy is almost impressive, I can't drop it because it's still so entertaining.

I get that the level of animation showcased in the first episode must be incredibly difficult to maintain throughout the entirety of a series, seeing as it was so detailed. Still, I thought that given the fact that this is only a 4 episodes long series, and it has been in production for what feels like forever, the drop in quality wouldn't be SO astonishing. Truly, one of the biggest fumbles I've seen this year.

There is a noticeable drop off in the animation but its not as bad as everyone says. It still has style and it feels like just the snake romance scenes were mostly the ones that were off.

I only saw a few clips, but I can tell Uzumaki died for Kimi ni Todoke S3.

And does the source material really have 600+ pages and this has four episodes? You know what, there's a good chance The Promised Neverland S2 would look like absolute cinema in comparison.

Meu deus do céu....

Awful animation especially considering the first episode was so well animated using rotoscoping. There was the one rotoscoped scene with the teacher which was the only good looking one. It also feels rushed.

The story is still creepy but the animation was in a downward "spiral".

This is my personal opinion and I'm not sure what is going on with the production.

However, this show was delayed multiple times and and was in produciton for over 5 years if I remember correctly.

Episode 1, as many other people I think would agree with me, was great and truly art/a masterpiece.

Yet, they still had to cut costs and went full-on budget mode in episode 2, which was insane to me. Episode 2 animations, pacing and also the content that was adapted, felt very rushed and to my disappointment, just not that good (of course in comparison with episode 1)

I did notice the animation quality drop this episode - but the climax points are still done well!
I also find that the pacing of this episode to be as rushed as the first - which dilutes the horror and suspense the original manga had.
The manga had been effective because it felt a lot more personal (in a way) like you are watching your neighbor's psyche descend slowly from the spiral - but the series
is more like an acid trip of events squashed in 30minutes TT (in the politest way possible.)

Guys this cannot be the author that everyone says is really good at doing horror things, like I even saw the manga, this doesn't even give you goosebumps, nothing, that's just art of making distorted things, like can we talk about this?

Why is everyone running the way you run in dreams? ๐Ÿ˜ญ

But seriously... wow. And here I thought Episode 1 was disappointing because of its awful pacing. Now I kinda wish that was the only issue with this adaptation.

while the noticable drop in quality is there, it's still a great episode, and i feel bad that the creators couldn't put the amount of effort they wanted to into this anime.

Man, I don't know why but as others have pointed out the animation and production values really fell off from the first episode. Also, it wasn't as impactful as the first episode and just like that this is turning out into a more average show.

Having said that hopefully things improve for the remaining 2 episodes but even if they do I began finding myself annoyed that the 2 main characters are staying in the town despite what has happened to themselves and those around them.

I can't believe the higher ups had lightning in a bottle with this studio making episode one, and then forced them to rush it. Also it's pretty obvious at this point that 4 episodes wasn't enough to fit everything from the book into this mini series. This could've been the greatest adaptation of all time, and instead, it's going down in history as another mid Junji Ito adaptation attempt, with a really good first episode.

The CGI animation toom a massive dip in today's episode, especially that chase scene in the middle of the ep, lmao so goofy.

Anyways, more spiral-induced fear! However this time as opposed to literal spirals, the phenomenon has branched out to figurative forms of spirals, such as the connection of love, the entangling of fates and the personality of being twisted. We see that these spirals have some sort of consciousness of their own with how Kirie's hair acts of its own will. This lead to that hilariously out-of-place shojo-shonen battle scene between hair vs hair, wut.

What is most creepy of all is how the spirals have the capability to transform humans, not just inflict them with obsessive paranoia but physically transform their physiology to something like those freaky snail-humans.

The moral of the story?
Don't bully your classmates or else they and you will get turned to giant snails and make eggs together. Yuck

As usual, 90% of MAl cares only about animation quality. Story, voice acting, direction are meaningless around these parts

I've been enjoying this series so far, it's actually been really creepy watching each chapter come to life!

I don't think the animation is bad, tbh I think these animators are not being compensated for their worth and are cranking these anime out at the expense of their health, and it's dumb af complaining about it when this energy can go towards shaming the big corporations for the financial scraps and mental health dilemma they put aimators and studios through.

@Farabeuf

The story is literally incomprehensible with the pace they've chosen, it feels like it's a random smashup of events one after the other lol.
