This is a comprehensive ending to the Hidden Inventory Arc. To be honest, watching the 1st season back in 2021, I was not convinced or even aware of Geto's goal or even Gojo's apparent overpowering abilities. That's why I am in the minority of those who have watched JJK to not really like the characters or the story very much. Not that I hate the show or anything, I just considered the story to not be engaging at all to me...

HOWEVER!
After seeing this arc now in the 2nd season, I am finally really liking the show. The dynamics between Gojo and Geto were fantastic, I really like their relationship with one another which makes their 'breakup' all the more depressing. Especially when they are at odds with one another.

The arc's ending was perfect to me. Gojo being woken up by Megumi was the perfect transition. It made it seems as though Gojo was reliving his past in his dream which to me speaks volume about Gojo. THIS TIME, I am finally eager to see what comes next!

Season two has elevated JJK from being just an amazing season 1 to something special, Geto is the PERFECT antagonist in JJK, completely taking the opposite stance from normal sorcerers, but not even being wrong if you look at it. The racism is bad tho, but understandable.

I didn't think much of Geto in S1 but watching this arc in S2 is probably one of the better "why he became a villain" origin stories in a while to me. Elevated that character for me.

Geto's final conversation with Gojo was great because at that point they basically switch ideologies of what they do with absolute power. Also kind of funny Yuki dipped in, explain some paths to a better world and then dipped out being the final push over the edge for Geto. In some sense she could be seen as the main reason everything went to shit since before then Geto was just mainly depressed, but not motivated.

Gojo getting his shit pushed in by Toji was great, not because I hate Gojo but because he seems invincible in the main present time so the fact that someone got close to killing him in such a brutal way was impressive. The final scene being Gojo waking up in present time from a dream of the past was great. Shows that the events still weight heavily on him and he's just not an OP goofball like S1 portrayed him. Animation and cinematic shots were excellent during the fights and even downtime when out of fights. Looking forward to future storylines, JJK shaping up to be a classic if they kept this momentum going.

I don't think this arc could have ended in a better way. I finally understand the reason why Geto went through such a significant change. This episode illustrated all the factors that were responsible for this in the first place.

Without a doubt, the whole incident with Riko's death played a major role, whereby Geto showed a first change in his thinking. However, it was equally easy to see that Geto just seemed completely exhausted mentally and physically, which was brilliantly illustrated in the shower scene.
Sadly, due to Gojo's tremendous progress, there was also a certain distance between the two, as he now did all of his missions alone and as a result Geto was also very often alone on his missions. And it is well known that being alone means that you have time to think, which does not always have to be positive.
It may be that Yuki didn't necessarily expect it, but her conversation with Geto was probably the biggest motivator that led him in this dangerous direction. Especially when Geto's hatred towards non-sorcerers is factored in at that moment.
The final straw was irrevocably Yu's death, since his cheerful, innocent and yet direct manner seemed to keep Geto's dark thoughts away.

Hardly anyone could show a reaction other than Gojo's. Someone you have known for such a long time and who you consider to be probably your best friend or even brother is committing such a horrible act.
This final conversation between Gojo and Geto further highlighted their vastly opposing views when it comes to absolute power and what one would and should actually do with it. Both of them parting ways definitely made me sad, since I love their chemistry and dynamic.

I loved the transition from Gojo and Megumi's first meeting to Megumi waking up Gojo in the present day. As if Gojo had had a long, nostalgic dream. You can see that these events hold a lot of meaning for Gojo, as he probably often wondered what he could have done differently. He may be the strongest, but unfortunately that brings with it a certain loneliness.
Still, Gojo's laughter reveals that he sees a lot in common between himself, Geto, and Shoko in Yuuji, Megumi, and Nobara. And how could one feel alone with these 3, right? So this arc definitely ended on a more positive note.

Since I'm an anime only, all I know is that the Shibuya arc will start next. I'm super excited to see what awaits me there.

I feel for Geto man. I don't understand why he has to absorb the curse spirits, can't they just disappear or die after its been exorcised? I guess that's what drove him to madness. So that's where the two annoying girls came from.
As a wise man once said, "No one hates anime more than anime fans"

yea idk. these 5 episodes are an entirely different show than season 1. plot, genre, art style. everything. it's all different

feel like this guy turning bad happened...kinda quick, no? i don't really "feel" what he feels. and i only know how he feels because he literally just says it out loud. they tell us instead of show/do and letting it build organically. at least that's how i feel

this season just isn't really doing it for me. it's not bad or anything. but when a new episode airs, i'm like "eh, i'll watch it later". and "later" usually turns into several weeks

Yeah sooo I understand Geto’s reasoning more now. Would be a lot better if he didn't have to kill anybody tho.

The Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc was pretty good. Slightly disappointed that we didn’t see more of anyone who wasn’t Gojo and Geto, but we got some scenes of the others and I’ll take what I can get. The fights were pretty sick and everything looked really good. Story was also really good, I could’ve lived without having to see Riko get shot tho.....

a banger episode again... Now i know the reason and have some compassion for Geto... even tough he killed his own parents...

I wonder, what happened to that blondie. If she's still in the game with exorcist or with Geto, or a 3rd part non affiliate.

People are complaining for not understanding. I guess, i barely understand because they put "a whole" season into 5 episodes. But I didn't read the mangas so idk if they skip a lot of chapters. Anyway in my mind, it's clear what happened and how.

And yes it would have been better if the 5 episodes would have been 10. But with the new format of anime, you can't expect that anymore.

It's not 1995-2005 anymore...

Btw, i agree with @Embient. It's the perfect moment to see the Movie 0 right now. In term of chronological scale it's now the time.
Idk why they didnt put this 5 episodes into the film ( so we could have more content ) and the film into the 5 episodes for season 2.

Maybe for the hype... Anyway. Let's see the rest.

It took me until this ep to realize it really was the backstory because I also wasn't sure reading the manga lol. I'm glad we got to see Gojo's backstory because it gives more depth to him and his character. Now I am excited to see the present! :D

Suguru did a moral 180° faster than one can say "Kill all monkeys" in this episode.

So one of his main motives was... disgust from swallowing all those curses? Which he'll keep on doing until/unless he managed to eradicate all 'monkeys'.

Well, at least the prequel stage is finally over and the main story can continue..

The irony is off the charts though when Suguru acted as a check on Gojo's darkest impulses until just the previous episode -where Gojo wanted to kill all those cult humans- and all of a sudden they were reversed.

And because they did, I suppose, Gojo needed to be the "adult in the room" in place of Suguru. If he didn't he would follow him to the 'dark side'.

@Sharpedon Disgust from swallowing curses is not the main reason why he decided to kill all monkeys. The meaning of life for jujutsu sorcerers is to always fight curses, because they keep coming and coming. The battle never ends and in the end there are only corpses left. And normal people don't even know that there is this war, but if they do they either don't respects sorcerers (like the cult) or are hostile towards them (like the villagers). Also, Suguru is a person who needs a logical reason before acting: he couldn't find one in ep 4, but now he did thanks to Yuki.
Imagine normies saying: "Peaky Blinders is mid and overhyped. Just another typical crime drama show. Breaking Bad is much better lol.".

I honestly feel so bad for geto even though we just got to see him and who he is, he has definitely become my favorite jujutsu kaisen character. And it's sad i'm pretty sure we won't be seeing much more of him because he becomes kenjaku.

I hope to see the GOAT again.
