@KlldbyCuriosity very well written response, thank you for this! Reading all these "manaria sucks" comments by people who clearly paid no attention to the story was infuriating

| Happy results happy ending. Started off strong for me then sorta stagnated but still good overall. When manaria said their situations were the same like naw not even. She create a situation from the result of her class difference power move sexual assault in which when she didn't get the results she wanted so she sulked. Nooooot even close to being the same |

| I loved this show. A season 2 would be so desirable, but what are the chances? |
| I really really dislike those cool, perfect, characters that are smug and act like they can't do anything wrong. While it's ok to see in say an Isekai lead character, it feels cheap when it's a love interest (I struggled to like Akane in S1 of Megami no Café Terrace for a similar reason) or rival character. In this show this was especially frustrating because they portrayed Rae's approach as being wrong, just to satisfy the direction of the show. The way the plot fell conveniently into Manaria's hands (and she even called out Rae's uniqueness because she's so special!) was also disappointing. Finally, the way it all wrapped up nicely (in particular Rae forgiving Manaria but even Rae/Claire) and so quickly didn't come across as satisfying. Maybe it was because it was consolidated from the novels but I really hate when shows do that. I read through some users' comments and skimmed through the past few episodes and I don't see Manaria as anything but a terribly written character. They tried to give her a sad story to make people care (sadly it worked on Rae) and tried to say she was going after Rae (sure she reached out and did show interest, but she didn't do anything to show the audience she was attracted to Rae, it came off as she had an interest in who Claire held dear). The character was just there to drive conflict (count the number of times she came off as annoying by saying "You're just running away"). After thinking back on earlier parts of the show, yes Rae lacked confidence but i think she was going the right direction. The show didn't really need this giant push that it tried to provide. The slow build-up between the two was slow but Rae was becoming embedded in Claire's heart (to the point she took her for granted). We certainly didn't need a perfect love rival who I wanted to see beaten to a pulp but instead everything went her way.. After reading some details across the internet.. I'm not sure if this was handled differently if it would have changed my outlook. I still can't like Manaria but it would have given a little more nuance to the show. I did enjoy the show overall but I really didn't like how they handled this. I understand they needed something to push the romance forward but perfect characters are not fun to watch in this context. You're rooting for the main character after all! While these past few episodes wouldn't keep me from watching a mythical S2, it severely dampened my enjoyment of the season. Having a fluffy ending, doesn't make everything better when the payoff is super short. |

| As one of the first yuri anime I've watched, it's really good. However, was the eighth episode necessary? I'm not going insane because why did the author think of incorporating incest? To an extent, at least it's not treated as a joke but still, we didn't need that. |

| Youtube wouldn't stop recommending me clips from this show for some reason so in order to shut it up I decided to give it a go and for something I didn't havemuch expectations for, it wasn't that bad. The genre of isekai otome game is full of mediocre to bad anime premises that feature sub par animation (as does this one), generic characters (as does this one with part of the cast) and forgettable music (you know the drill). The difference here comes in the approach from the main character leaning heavily towards direct romance from the start and the way both her and the villainess take it. Rae is in love from the start but has to prove it to herself and to her just by how much and what it means to be her maid. Claire on the other hand has a lot of uptight personality is closed off to the proposal but slowly starts to warm up and even turn around to the idea. Also, it's not so much about the yuri but the romance as there's a gender talk that deconstruct what the characters think about loving someone regardless of gender or at least not in the conventional idea of the word. Basically, from something I didn't expect to get anything out of ended up being mildly impressed. I was wondering from the ending how does the story continue in the game and from I gather Claire actually behaves like a villain at that point and does something that makes her to be murdered. We'll probably never get a second season to know what that is but the light novel is always there just in case. |
