@Atomisten Not angry only calling garbage argument garbage. After all you even proved that you dont have idea what are you talking about, because there was no fake map and there was no need spend any money.

Well considering you are probably troll (I am giving you benefit of doubt as otherwise it would make you just plainly stupid), I will leave at that. Feel free to have last word.
@Tenzen12 ????

wtf you talking about that there was no fake map. it was old map (fake) where a lot of routes were blocked and some were opened since then. literally told by protagonist. which means it was kinda useless map. so ofc you have to spend money for new one.

did you even watch the episode??? oh you probably didn't, that's why you liked it. you should watch it, and you won't like it then!

Awww, Lorraine got surprised at Rentt for using her Family name.

But she ends up accepting it and now they're "relatives" hehe.

I think Rentt and Lorraine just got indirectly married, LOL

.

And the Guild Receptionist is already becoming part of Rentt's harem, she doing a lot of extra things for Rentt. Tho I think part of it is cause Rentt... is literally using the name Rentt, which the Guild Receptionist is really into and respect. (tho Rentt doesn't know it, cause he's too dense in focusing in just trying to rank up...)

.

And Rentt is already training newbies, LOL, Rentt being a Vet is pretty much a Smurf doing this Exam, LOL

@Tenzen12 oh are you mad that your fav anime is garbage? don't worry you will survive. try to get out to fresh air instead of being a loser introvert shutin who watches rule34 from this anime on a daily basis.

yes it was garbage. giving everyone a fake map on an exam is laughable. what if participants dont have enough money for new maps. plus they said carriages might have took them to different place. LOL.

imagine you having a math exam (in a couple of years when you graduate... FROM KINDERGARTEN) and the math teacher gives you false exam while the real one is in your hidden drawer of desk... and after you find it YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR IT...then finally you start to concentrate on the problems HE SUDDENLY TRIES TO STAB YOU. LOL. sure that's bronze exam for you. this is some super garbage and you are coping hard.
@Atomisten

Your example makes no sense and has to be one of the stupidest things I've read which is impressive given I frequent Reddit. The whole point of the exam and the trip ups the guild does is to see if the participants are actually paying attention to their surroundings and their materials as well as being able to deal with the possibility of ambushes or fighting human opponents.

ok so if you take an exam in university about being a boy scout, and in the written exam they give you a fake exam paper and when you find the original you have to pay for it (map) without telling you any of it, you would get into the ultrabeginner (bronze) boy scout level if you do this? then instead of learning how to make fire in the practical exam, or learning how to make a tent and camp, you are suddenly attacked by a bear (examiners dressed into bear with real sharp claws/fangs) which you have to kill without preparation or warning. again, to learn to be a superbeginner boy scout. because the "possibility" of a bear attack or "paying attention" you are sabotaged by the examiners.

do you think this is reasonable? no you don't. which means your comment is the stupidest thing even YOU probably read. even though i agree with you on the reddit part. which means you probably frequently visit reddit and decrease the average level of IQ.

cheers.

Best episode of the series so far, as it plays to the show's strengths.

1. It emphasizes that despite being low-ranked, Rentt had a lot of valuable experience. It then presents how he shared it with new adventurers, which was one of the important points for which he was valued by his acquaintances and in the Guild. Kudos to the director for sticking to the "show, don't don't tell" approach this anime uses, as it is subtle, fits the slower pace of the series and is enjoyable to unravel, even if it's not that complicated.
2. Very detailed and believable worldbuilding yet again, where ranking up in the guild requires specific strengths that are tested in practice. Still, they do not just randomly get people killed since this gives them a chance to learn from the event.
3. The test for illiterate candidates idea was cool, but I'd switch up the proportions, having just a few people present for the written exam to further intensify the point how important and rare of a skill reading and writing are.

This anime does what I wanted for a long time, showing an experience, but not overpowered adventurer go by using wits, knowledge and connections to gradually move forward to a believable goal that is not a power fantasy trip. If this keeps up, it will be my anime of the season. There are better ones objectively, but the enjoyment for me here is top tier in the season.

Agreed. I love the way the guild works because it feels more realistic to how an actual adventurer guild would operate with things like exams run by the guild under their watch to avoid casualties, variations of the exams to test for various abilities, missing persons reports when adventurers fail to report after a certain amount of time, etc.. It really does lift it and make it feel like an actual organization that the author took time and care to flesh out instead of tacking it on because it's what's in vogue. And this is all from what I'm allowed to talk about to avoid spoilers from the LN and manga.

Lorraine wanting Rentt to assume in another name, that's the only way to progress further tbrough his Existential Evolution to Mithril-class.

The promotion to Bronze-class for Rentt, assuming under Lorraine's family name Vivie, it'd be better for people to think that he's her relative so avoid suspicions. With that said, the promotion exam is officially underway, though Rentt recognizes some adventurers (warrior Ryze Danner & mage Laura Sati) who've went to the Labyrinth, and he's taking it for the 2nd time for the written portion. The practical exam to reach to the specified location for the guild, it's a race between parties. Rentt basically has to feign ignorance about the Labyrinth, though he tries to help out as much as he can on the surface, given his 10 years working for the guild.

It's dungeon threading as Rentt leads both Ryze and Laura into the Labyrinth and teaches them valuable lessons on becoming capable adventurers, though Rentt has captured the attention of the guild as someone of no past. And despite letting other parties go through first, he also intends for it to be a teaching lesson as well.

Into the Boss room they go...what awaits them?

@Atomisten

It would be reasonable because it teaches the low rank beginners to use their head (something you're not using) on unexpected situations. It teaches them that the dungeon isn't the only hazards they will stumble upon, they also have to think ahead for thieves and backstabbing adventurers and poorly drawn maps. This is something that it's best to teach with actual practice than to give them in a tedious lecture or just give them a manual on how to be an adventurer. Those who failed will get better prespective and will live to take the exam later on rather than being dead because they gave them a free pass on how to survive the outdoors.

Also your example is a terrible analogy, because stuff like making a campfire and knowing how to defend themselves is something they should know already.

@Kimurah
then you should take the bronze exam if it's about using your head... oh nvm you would fail because you are only able to use it to write comments on forums. that's the extent of use for your head.

need i remind you this is BRONZE exam. a beginner exam. it's like learning the multiplication table at school. nobody is teaching kids what to do if you are attacked while you are doing math. it's braindead. so is anyone who thinks this is logical. they should test them on adventurer's skills not random survival skills which has nothing to do with dungeons.

and my examples were good but if you ever used your brain outside of anime forums to comment, and you could learn logic behind the basics of analogy, you would realize the point was not that they are kindegarten kids or boy scouts, the point of comparison was that both boy scouts or kids when tested on something new, they are only tested on that new thing, not some other random survival shit they were never taught, because it doesn't make any sense. it's like you asking literature questions in a math exam. makes no sense. with bad logic like yours you could say "but they need literature knowledge as well"---> braindead. ofc they need, but exams are testing only the specific things which they SAID that they will test.

if they need to test them on survival then that should be a separate test where they are taught "survival" skills and then being tested on. it's just braindead logic. you are coping hard to defend this low level anime.

The guild is definitely a good organization for having such a layered exam. Multiple traps even right from the start to weed out the unaware and unfocused. Not ranking up is a much better outcome than them losing their lives in the dungeon after all.

Also, i'm enjoying how Rentt always seems to fall into the mentor role whenever he's with someone else. His good nature is definitely going to get him exposed!
