Definitely not a beginner anime, not a seasoned or a veteran. I wouldn’t recommend this anime to anyone.

NOPE not at all. Oshi no ko contains some unusual stuff and shows containing drama are always a no no as starter anime. Shows like aot or one punch man would be good, its fun epic and its unique compared to all the other western shows. Still rmb when just started anime, the isekai genre blew my mind and i was like this is the best genre of all time lol.

Hey guys,
I'm thinking about recommending my mother some animes and I absolutely love Oshi No Ko. Do you think it's a beginner friendly anime or do you think that it has too much "weird" stuff in terms of reincarnating as an idols son, etc?

I guess attack on Titan will be better if you recommend it oshi no ko has good first episode I agree but these isekai stuff and all I mean it exposes the dark stuff of entertainment industry

It depends, if your mom is a fan of psychological shows and movies i think there's a good chance she'll like Oshi, also if she's interested in things like some behind the scenes of how the entertainment industry works and likes a bit of drama the show's good in those aspects too

Don't worry about the weird reincarnating stuff, the fantasy elements are incorporated really well in the show that it shouldn't bother someone if they're not into that

nah, I would say no. 1st ep might come off sus with the grown man being obsessed with a teenage girl, and also some weird elements like breastfeeding. also the idol industry is somewhat niche, so there are definitely better choices imo

in my opinion for beginners “your name”,”silent voice” and “i want to eat your pancreas “ are might be good.

'Oshi no Ko' is a great anime, although I recommend
Komi can't communicate.

Komi can’t communicate is a horrible first anime. lol

"Reincarnated as a baby with all my adult memories" should probably not be a concept which is featured in one of your first ten anime. That's a really weird otaku idea. You start off by showing how anime can do the sort of storytelling you might imagine happening in some live-action type thing so much better. Don't start with something deeply immersed in otaku culture.

I think it's plenty weird. Especially in the first couple of Episodes there is a lot of this reincarnation-ecchi-humor ^^
After that it gets better. But I think if you're relatively new to Anime these first couple of Episodes might be weirding you out.

I don't think so because the idol culture portrayed is rather specific to Japan. I suppose if you can extrapolate the themes to a highly-visible and relatively controversial industry in your area, it may work.

Of course, for newbies, there exists only two anime for starters, and that would be One punch man or Death note

In general, I say it is one. Good audiovisuals, nice plot and direction, cool characters. Although, I'd ask first what kind of anime someone wants to watch. "Oshi no Ko" might not click with people willing to watch more action centered anime stuff, i.e. shounens.

I think that Oshi no Ko is primarily a show for those who love true crime and/or music show business. Especially East Asian. If your mom is one of those people, then she might like this.

This thread is great for identifying who has good emotional intelligence and who doesn’t.

The answer btw is no. Unless your mom is extremely progressive and open-minded, it’s just too “anime” of an anime to introduce with. You don’t wanna leave bad impressions

Absolutely not lmao

We have lolicon jokes in the first 5 minutes, there is a scene of an infant being smug about sucking her mom's tits, because she is actually her favourite idol from a previous life.

The show largely relies on you having at the very least the basic knowledge about idol industry for the pilot to work. the comedy is over the top, and apparently the manga is something something incest allegedly.

It's definitely not a beginner anime.

Even from this same author, I would say Love is war is definitely the more beginner friendly show out of the two.

but if you want my suggestion, show your mom something like fruits basket.
