This show levelled up big from the setup in the first episode. I really enjoyed how it played out and thematically it works fine that the power of love heals the victim.

A really emotional episode to follow up the strong premiere! It's rare to see those so early in a show.

I'm also the type to believe that it's a weakness to ask for help, so it was extra sweet for me to see Shy save Koshikawa!

I hope the show keeps this standart for the rest of the season!

Take that edgy boy.

It was wonderful seeing Iko and Teru's heart to heart which helped both of them emotionally this episode. Really ties with the importance of the heart and emotions that this show is trying to push forward.

So like, I have a question. The shrimp-thingy; what does it's A/B/O nickname mean? There's no way it's an omegaverse reference, right? That'd be funny asf, though highly unlikely.

Koishikawa got akumatized and Shy managed to save her! I liked the twist that her hatred was directed at herself, the twist was a bit predictable but they handled it well. I'm enjoying the show, but I still wish we know more about Shy. I know that'll come with time but I just can't wait!

@CrowTheCryptid My guess is Ebio->えび=shrimp.
Anyways after watching those two episodes I don't get how this show isn't more popular and have such a low rating compared to some other shows this season that are rated higher but doesn't really have much in terms of substance. Hopefully it will get more recognition later.

I guess the villlan of this story doesn't want to destroy the world or to dominate it like other villains. Though, to me the thing with Iko felt a little convoluted, maybe because it is a typical feeling with the Japanese people.

It didn't seem clear to me if she discovered Shy's identity, given the different namee she called her after everything was said and done.

Nice episode overall but I did realize that Shy's hero costume is a bit lame this episode.
Especially vs Dark Iko who was pretty.

I honestly didn't believe this show would actually take a more serious take on the story and that it would be more light so this episode surprised me

Looks like I really need to add Masaomi Andou to my list of directors to look into, this ep felt incredibly reminiscent of his style in Kuzu no Honkai and the results are beautifully done. Shy's way higher in my rankings for this season now.

I feel less interested after this episode. The darkness in your heart thing is such cliche magical girl. Concerned it'll just be a lot of episodic rescues.

I wonder if Shy will be a target for Crystalization... Shy is insecure about herself and will likely always doubt if she did the right thing, including her failure to save everyone earlier.

Too bad we didn't get any of the Russian hero girl this episode (w/ her vodka lol). So now Iko knows who Shy is and Shy now knows that Iko holds no ill will towards her so I'm hoping that they both grow from this, especially Shy since I'm sure she will be tested further in this series.

It's coming along slow but nice, my only issue is all this self-deprecating emotions...they go so overboard with it sometimes that it gets annoying but that's part of the story, so oh well, will continue to watch.
@Tsinelas That's a weird take lol. So if you see someone going crazy because of a traumatic event, your response would be "Stop it bro you're going overboard"? The "self-depreciating emotions" are completely on-brand for both characters considering their backstories and what they have to live with every single day.

Seeing a lot of sexualization of Shy online with the excuse "She's fictional bro".

So to anyone who visits this thread with this same bs mindset - if you're not a creep shut-in loser irl, you won't find yourself feening over a fictional 14 year old girl in the first place.

Let's not pretend that such a mindset, somehow, does not reflect what kind of person you are when it clearly does.

wasn't bad but the flashbacks and dialogues were too long. also very stereotypical. boring.

i wonder if i would have liked it better in episode 10 instead of 2, when i have an actual attachment for the characters.

sometimes it is a genuine connection that saves us. someone to accept our sadness, our suffering, and etc, and Shy did all of that for her.

sometimes people who are truly kind will just always blame themselves and Shy was able to help her move on pass that, I'm sure the guilt is something that will always linger around, but it is connection that helps us move on. Connection truly is key to saving us and others. Great ep.

looking forward to what the show has to offer and how Shy will grow as a character.

Finally, a series where there's no weird yuri bait or yuri itself, but a pure, budding friendship.
This is already a CGDCT to me. owo
Shy's outfit is still lewdly made, it would be better with shorts but they made it like a wonder woman's bottom piece or something.
Anyway, I'm expecting a lot from this series.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

I liked this episode. More specifically, I liked the tone of this episode.

Moving past grief is an incredibly difficult process and it takes a long time to do so. I liked how Shy attempted to reach out to Iko on a personal level. It would have been too easy for the show to just include a fight scene for the sake of visual spectacle, but it's nice watching how the heroine saves the day just by offering kindness.

The problem is that this episode overused dialogue and exposition. Both Teru and Iko spend almost a third of the episode just feeling their feelings and it's not until the climax that they, especially Teru, do something about those feelings. There comes a point in the episode where the lessons about grief, guilt and kindness become so excessive that they just become noise.

Fortunately, the episode was saved by the amazing visuals and the incredible performances of both Veronica Laux and Bryn Apprill. It's only been two episodes so far, but Shy is... good. It's serviceable, but not extraordinary.

Huge letdown after intriguing 1st episode.
No cool characters, no space, nothing. Just standart forced drama. Die for someone, live for someone, save dudes, help dudes, ask for help - same old, same old. Plus most ridiculous villain you can imagine.
Only return of Spirit or some GL can save this now.

talking to classmates Koishikawa seems popular despite her crutches, when shes called to the faculty office.| In the hallways Teru is beating herself up feeling responsible for koishikawas injuries, which worsens when she sees koishikawa in pain on the stairwell, teru feels obligated to accompany her to the nurse office.
At the nurses office when teru takes a bathroom break, a mysterious boy villain corrupts koishikawa with a ring that draws out negative emotions and turns her demonic. Teru comes back in horror to see koishikawas demonic appearance, koishikawa rants the root cause of her hate; herself because her parents sacrificed their lives to save her in the past. Koishikawa about to pierce her own neck is stopped by now transformed shy, she pushes Koishikawas through a gate to a more open and safer place. koishikawa's hate now directed to shy for not being able to save her parents & heroism causing her parents death, Shy lets koishikawa physically take out her hatred on her. With Shy sharing similar sentiments about heroism as a child, she is able to reach out to koishikawa and psychologically save her to take off the demonic ring; Although at the cost of shy being heavily beaten from koishikawas hatred fueled assault.
The boy villain watches from afar, now intrigued by shy.

This villains idea is quite silly, he so calls wants to release people from hiding their true feelings, so his Solution is to make people get influenced by uncontrollable intensified dark emotions resulting in them turning into literal monsters? He obviously just wants chaos, no valid values. And now koishikawa knows teru is shy, cant wait to see how that turns up
