Chapter 27 is the start of the next arc.

I'd recommend reading from the beginning, there's alot of good comedic moments in the manga version.

It is adapted from the Light novel. Even I only read the manga(with vol 4 of the Light novel) and wondered if all this was in the light novel. Like Sherry stabbing Shadow’s photograph or Perv’s boss lecturing him.

It's kinda hard not to see him as Kirito clone when he's a short black haired unbeatable male isekai lead like most of them and the show came out during the peak of these kinda shows lol

Very underwhelming season finale. The fight between Shadow, Iris and Beatrix was horribly boring. Shadow just stood there making snarky remarks without taking a single hit.

Really enjoyed this season. Cid was funny and cool, but honestly I was very underwhelmed by all the villains and the secondary characters outside of Rose. Ost and voice acting were great. Super solid 8/10 for me, and will absolutely be coming back to watch a second season.

It's been awhile since I last binged the manga since the earlier days when this series was first released so I may forget some details here and there. Anyway, thoughts on the last episode.

I don't remember there being that much destruction in the ending fight of Shadow vs Beatrix & Iris. I think they bulked that out with animations and dragged on the fight because to be honest I don't remember much about the fight at all (I even forgot Iris was part of it). It was some nice eye candy, no complains about the animation or sound and I like the nice throwback of the MC using his signature crowbars lmao.

The fight also served to further deepen Iris' inferiority complex. We've seen flashbacks of her being the sole supporting pillar of strength in regards to defending her kingdom and having more or less everyone depending on her strength. It was a large burden to carry and all the incidents in the past made her doubt herself even more.

The first happened during Alexia's kidnapping arc, mainly during the fight against the transformed demon where she was having trouble dealing with it and Alpha told her to stay out and handle it with ease. On top of that she witness Shadow's I AM ATOMIC which was magic that no one has ever witnessed.
The second happened during the Eye of Avarice arc where the entire school was held hostage and she didn't have the power to retake it.
The fight with Mundane man further worsened her inferiority complex and she buckled when she realised the people depending on her were starting to doubt her.
In the fight against Shadow, despite using an artifact and teaming up with Beatrix, she refuses to acknowledge the gap in power and continues to fight head on even though she knows that it was pointless. Witnessing the extend of I AM ATOMIC was enough to make her cry in frustration at how helpless she is despite being her kingdom's pillar.

To be fair to her, she is constantly comparing herself to anomalies outside of "normal" but it is also true that in the grand scheme of things (the big picture), she is pretty much insignificant in terms of power.

Rose's initiation into Shadow Garden wasn't touched on either. In the manga, we were only shown Roses' invitation from Alpha and it skipped right into her as 666 doing a mission so that little peak into what the training conditions for her could be was a nice addition to her character's lore.

I can't remember whether it was hinted/shown in the past episode regarding Sherry's new motivation of killing Shadow but it was a nice reminder that she is still in the picture and not thrown away after the Eye of Avarice arc (we haven't seen her yet in the manga). It's ironic that she shifted her life's goal of continuing/fulfilling her mother's legacy (as a means to avenge her) to killing Shadow (as a means to avenge her father).

The ending just sets things up for a sequal more than anything so I would be disappointed if we don't get anything since there wasn't a conclusion to anything although that's just how the series is like. It wasn't just a flashy fight since we got some expansion into some of the character's lore (mostly Iris and a little on Rose) but the rest of the cast remains a mystery.

As much as I'd like to treat this series as a normal fantasy adventure Isekai, you just can't. The entire premise of the story is about the MC looking cool/going full chunnibyou when he adopts his Shadow persona and being as much of a background character as Cid. As the audience, we are mostly here for the comedic aspect surround that premise. There are no stakes involved and we are just here for the ride. The story/plot just flows along and the MC doesn't really get directly involved in anything. Although he is the main focal point of the series, it's all purely coincidental through his actions in becoming "The Eminence in the Shadow" from the very start (everything just falls back on to MC's journey to be "The Eminence in the Shadow").

Currently I don't think there's enough content for a season two MANGA WISE. Not too sure about the light novel as I have no read it but I've seen comments saying that the anime is adapting the LN so there might be hope. There's an upcoming announcement on 22nd Feb but it's just an announcement NOT an announcement of a second season so don't set yourself up for disappointment by being mislead. I'd love to get a second season but I feel that this series is more enjoyable when binged as there isn't much of a motivating factor to wait for a new episode every week since there really isn't much of a plot per say and I'm just here for the (comedic) casual ride.

That's just his character, he's called The Eminence in the Shadow for a reason. This isn't your traditional fantasy Isekai so you'll likely get disappointed if you view it as such since the series doesn't have much to offer in that aspect i.e. surface level characters (and motivation), weak plot (no clear direction/start/end) etc.

It's over but I want more. 😭😭 LN it is i guess. This fulfilled my itch of otome mob so much. This is mgr level of basedness. Past year, I've never seen more than 3 episodes in a day, this anime made me watch 20 in a day. What an amazing anime.

Good shows always keep you wanting more and this does that to me. I want to see Rose's reaction to Cid being shadow, iris probably fighting with Alexia, pink haired girl's failed attempt at revenge and so much more.

Only gripe I have is that Cid doesn't change. Op protagonists like Kiyo, Saitama and otomob mc always change with their experiences. Cid remained the same from start to finish. I hope he changes, if even a bit.

Anime was it's best 20000 years ago, when cavemen drew art with real depth.
Modern anime is all garbage. I miss great old days of anime.
