| Pretty good first ep! Seems like a very dark and cruel world. I immediately love the female Devil Hunter who showed up at the end, she seems very calm and sweet. The CGI was a bit hard to ignore at times, but really cool story nonetheless. |

| I don't think I've seen a first episode with a huge amount of votes and posts here in all of my time being on MAL. I know that Chainsaw Man had some insane amount op hype behind it, but even then, I feel like that's a gross understatement! XD I can't help but feel plenty of sympathy for Denji and what he's had to go through in his life so far, so I can't blame him for wanting to go crazy after Pochita gave him another chance to life. The production values for this episode was top-tier. There was plenty of CGI and, of course, you're going to get the CGI hate squad to come along and trash talk it until the cows come home, but the CGI was done pretty well. While I'm not the biggest fan of the OP song and I feel that other shows this season have done that much better, the OP animation itself looked great and had some amusing and sexy moments which had me smiling. The first ED, on the other hand, sounded great and was a proper jam from start to finish. Overall, I'm going to enjoy travelling on this juggernaut of a hype train until the end. The score that the show has now after the first episode feels very overinflated, but I do see this series ranking very highly once its run is over. =) |
| Holy Grail of movie tributes in the OP. The CGI is top tier. And the MC story is worthy of a hero's tale. IKUZO DENJI!!!! MegamiRem said: Expectation was really high and it went above. | I wasn't sure what to expect from the story (other than the fact that it's one of the most anticipated shows this month), but this episode was unexpectedly deep, disturbing, incredibly gory, and strangely beautiful. Except for the pretty noticeable cgi, the introduction to the story's main setting is well executed. I almost cried when the devil pet resurrected Denji. And it's incredible how quickly I was able to emotionally connect with these two characters' unfortunate situation and unusual friendship in just a short amount of time. Aside from that, Denji's internal monologues are quite powerful, and his narratives casually hit home on a sensible level. Overall, it was a great start. I was expecting more from the animation, but the story seems very promising. |
