In the novel she felt so much joy that she wanted to sing and dance.
And she did in the anime.

Renner was pulling the strings all along 🗿

She really gives me chills whenever I see her on screen, and now her demon form + her singing in the end makes it more 🥶

and The End begins!!! Giga hyped for the movie.
Why do we have to live in such a cruel world?

Haha Renner is really batshit crazy (also brilliant). I love the way the author twisted the classic Disney tropes in this episode. This show is truly unique.

That being said I felt a lot of things happened off screen that I wished to see.

Not a lot of action in this season and the animation could have been better but I still give it a solid 7/10.

Yeah from what I've gathered people are still hella confused about Renner's actions. Especially wish they clarified what the cubes were made for and how exactly she activated them. I had to search it online, which should not have been required.

This finale ended on an intense high and I really loved it! =)

Mare and Aura did their jobs well, but the highlight for me was Climb's fight against Ainz. It was futile and heavily one-sided, but he did give it his all. After that, he woke up and found out that Renner is now a demon and had Climb's life spared, which must've left his mind in turmoil. Renner's desire to make Climb hers and hers alone makes her disturbingly scary and that was before she broke out into a musical dance out of nowhere! Nice animation of her dance, though.

@dasprn nailed it, saying that's it the little ones that you should be scared of and Renner is definitely someone that I wouldn't want to mess around with if I could help it...

Overall, this season was tense and had some really impressive moments. I look forward to seeing the Holy Kingdom Arc Movie when that comes out and, hopefully, a fifth season of the TV series to continue the story.

8/10 is my final score.

A really nice wrap-up of the multiple stories happening with still some leeway for continuing in the next season.

Does this imply overlord as a series is reaching the end? LN readers, your opinion on this is highly appreciated

Yea should end with 18 volumes and the anime just adapted vol 14. So the last season gonna have to have the rest.

ainz my man this is just me bro but I think nobody would've thought to go against you of you simply sicced the 3 baby cthulhu's on the kingdom and let them do their thing half a season ago you do u though all that tiptoeing and minor character development that will ultimately amount to nothing because "main character very evil >:(" was great

The didn’t show it. Didn’t even mention it(I think). That’s why the whole thing is so confusing, especially for non LN readers I guess.

annoyed that they didnt leave any cliffhanger for the movie or something to be hype for the sequel

that would be because I'm 90% sure the movie is covering the books before the 4th season. wouldn't make much sense to cliffhang backwards. I think they avoided a cliffhanger for the final content as no one is 100% sure how the LN will go

Poor Climb? I don’t know man. Yes he’s a fooI but ultimately he gets to live with his loved one basically forever and most definitely has a huge power up in the process. He will prob hang out with Sebas too haha. I guess it all depends on whether he will be able to adjust morally.

Momonga could've achieved all this much faster just by attacking the kingdom directly even without colluding with that princess renner let's be real here. And God that renner's voice is annoying as fuck. It's so fucking forced and it sounds to me like long nails scratching glass or something. I'm really disappointed that she gets to live. Also, this the shittiest season of overlord for me. I really liked all previous 3 and this one is just good at best.

7/10 too much fucking talking

Jesus Christ this was shit. This entire season made no sense, characters made no sense, the story was just all over the place and pretty much impossible to follow.
And lets not even get into the horrible written character that is Climb. If you're gonna write a horrible character at least give him as little screen time as possible.
This entire show has just been going downhill into a pile of shit since season 2.
Even for an Isekai this was horrible. I literally had more fun watching Shijou Saikyou no Daimaou than this pile of garbage.

Yeah well, seems like it feels bitter sweet 4 me. I don't know, it's like there is something lacking in this final episode.

Either way, it's a good episode though i feel like the action could have been more.

Need more action, especially The Invasion of The Elf Kingdom and The Slane Theocracy. That would be epic!

The next thing to look forward to is the movie, will adapt the content that takes place between episodes 8-9 (volumes 12-13) which sort of makes it a prequel as the anime decided to jump straight to volume 14 (episodes 8-13). Depending on how well they adapt it, the arc is considered one of the most brutal in the series.

As for what happens chronologically after this season, there are only 3 volumes left in the series as the author has apparently decided to end the story in volume 17 (or 18 if he decides to extend it a bit).

Thanks for the info! I'm looking forward to it then, but it is a shame that it seems like it is ending in the near future.

Looked up where the manga is currently at because I wanted to have more details on the story (and because its easier to digest than a LN), since LNs which are adapted into manga and then anime always lose some content with each step further down the line - like the rising of the shield hero. However, it seems that the manga is quite far behind the anime so... that was that thought.

I think I'll give the LN a try then, but I think the LNs won't be able to portray the brutality as good as a manga or anime could, right? (At least for the volumes 12-13)

The funny thing about the brutality is, the anime heavily censors or tones down the brutality in the LNs. The novels are absolutely brutal with their descriptions and of course, the anime understandably tones it down to make it able to be aired on tv. One example is Clementine's death in S1, where the novels describe how her spine and organs came out of her mouth after Ainz squeezed her while the anime chose to make it a blood squirt before her corpse simply crumples lifelessly onto the ground. Or the most recent example was in this episode when Albedo came to see Philip. It skips ahead to showing the already severed heads of Philip's father and associates but in the novel, Albedo brutally slaughters everyone by impaling them from their crotch and through their mouths.

I do highly recommend giving the LNs a try as they describe the events very clearly while also providing background info and context that were skipped in the anime.

I thought this was a drastic improvement to previous seasons where characters existed only to serve and praise ainz, with personalities that were ludicrously annoying. It's mostly still the same, but with a bit of character development and world building added on

I loved how they developed Renner from the very beginning. Such a good turning point for the character. It's just so sad that they didn't let Climb rest in peace unlike the others. Renner is such a f up psychopath and I love it.

Great sequel. Can't wait to see more.

But at least i hope someday madhouse would pay attention to NGNL or Oda Nobunaga no Yabou for sequel instead. Overlord is great and all but there are more good stuff which haven't got any sequel yet by madhouse which is really sad.
