First half... not too amused by Naruse for now (even if there is some nice meta commentary about him appearing all of the sudden midway through season 2 despite his main character wannabe delusions) but not even he deserves that treatment by the absolute worst character of the show. The other guy stealing work to the narrator who noticed it created a funny moment.

Second half... beautiful. i'll probably rewatch it later with the original voices but italian dub delivered it once again. Couldn't expect Komi suddenly talk all that much, but it was nothing short of wonderful, and it's not even just for the performance of someone i actually met in real life, but for both the talk on the phone and face to face. Tadano is so precious and deserves all the best too, he's so pure when he notices that he told something easy to misunderstand and acts all that embarassed.

Finally, the school trip is arriving. Nice job, teacher, to sort the group like you decided.

Naruse is kind of amusing. Not sure what to think of him since it is hard to think of a good narcissist.

Feels out of place seeing Komi speak so much all of a sudden but also nice to witness. It was sweet though but sad hearing about her being left out and rejected before in past.

The whole hand thing with Komi and Tadano was really cute, especially how embarrassed she was. Naruse was great (especially the selfies) but the highlight of the episode is of course the whole call between Komi and Tadano. More background of Komi, it was the longest she’s spoken so far and it was just adorable how they reacted to each other. Excited for the Kyoto episode.

Everything has been pretty light so far ever since the first episode of the first season. So to have a bit of Komi-san's past hits kind of hard when it's in stark contrast to all the mostly carefree fun we've been having so far. I'm going to guess that the opposite was true, and that everyone was avoiding her because well, they thought she was too good for them.

Not that I'm asking for any amount of realism, but the touching moment between Komi-san and Tadano on the phone is slightly ruined by how it seems that Komi-san thinks she doesn't have any friends. Sure she admits she is simply just scared, but is she blind to how everyone has been hardcore simping for her all this time?? Or maybe, she recognizes that they are not true friends at all... and are simply after her beauty. If that's the case, then we truly are heading into deeper territory. But obviously that's not the case... she somehow just cannot see how people adore her so much the point that they made a human wall in this episode to defend her from a pretty boy potentially taking her away from them.

maybe it's kind of weird. but from all the anime I've watched about friendship. looks like Japanese people have a different definition of who you consider friend. not like us (I'm a Southeast Asian man) we are friends even though we just know. but from what I see, a friend in Japanese culture is more than this. they need to spend time a lot, have the same trait, accepting so on and so forth. maybe other people could describe it better than I. and yeah maybe you are right, Komi probably doesn't think of them as a friend but as someone who likes her..

edit: I found a research paper and it said that being friendly is not enough to earn friendship with Japanese. you need to have transparent kindness to earn it. It's like, I'm kind to you because I want to be with you, something like this. that's a good read if you want learn how to get japanese friend

@de_struct I agree with you that friendship in Japan looks different, but it doesn't apply in this show. Komi wants to have 100 friends, its impossible to have so many friends with this definition of friendship. And she considers someone as her friend literally after one minute of "talking". I know, you'll not reply me but this anime triggers me so much that I have to say something XD

Komi being embarrassed about the hand holding paired with Tadano’s confusion on whether Komi was actually at his house or not was great, that was definitely a great misunderstanding on both parts. And after last episode’s preview, Naruse didn’t disappoint, I definitely like him, I like his narrator friend too lol. I hope he gets more bits going forward. Tadano better hide his phone from his sister tho lol.

And the last scene of the 2nd half of the episode was amazing, that’s definitely the most Komi has talked in the entire series lol, but it was incredibly sweet, everything about it was great. The bit of backstory we got for Komi was good too, it was sad but I do wonder if she just saw things the wrong way or not, guess we’ll never know, but it’s great she has such good friends now, and a lot of them.

Can someone tell me why people like 2nd half of this episode so much? It doesn't make sense. Komi thinks that nobody is going to want here in the group on the trip. How? Why? Is she forgot about Yamai who not only like her but love her and say it over and over again? This backstory could be really touching but they completely ruin it with this nonsense
I know, you'll not reply but this anime triggers me so much that I have to say something XD

@spider321 You’d be surprised at what I will reply to lol, but if I’m being completely honestly, it’s been so long that I can’t remember how exactly it went down, but the me from the past seemed to really liked it so there must have been a reason me and others liked it so much lol. Unfortunate the show has been triggering you tho, I really like Komi but it must not be for everyone
