| That was pretty dark and surreal. I guess Yuri is afraid of growing up and it's an "alien concept to her". I believe that's what she keeps crying about. As for Kasumi it really feels like her parents are pressuring her and that her brother is the only one that truly cared for her. Kasumi's character is rather interesting. For Miyu I'm not so sure except for the fact that her fear is loneliness and she doesn't like taking everyone's burdens on herself (which is why she joined this group) Looks like I'll have to read the manga to know where the heck did the "Yellow Knife" come from. For now my rating is a 6/10. The animation and character design is decent. The ED is kinda nice. |

| totally bizarre from start to finish. I knew already that this only adapts half of the first manga iteration so wasn't expecting a complete ending with all the answers, defo an interesting watch and would recommend to those who like all things weird and wonderful! Wouldn't mind owning the manga in English one day and finishing the story! |

| This wasn't nearly as good in retrospect as it was when I first watched it ://////// There are plenty of elements that don't make much sense beyond fitting in with the weird atmosphere, especially when it starts getting all uncomfortable and perverted. That scene in episode 2 where it's implied that Yuri is either raped or molested by her classmates has always been a headscratcher for me. The easiest explanation would be that it's all in Yuri's head and is an extrapolation of her fear from beginning to notice all the changes in her interactions with the opposite sex, though none of the cool experimental stuff that Alien 9 does ever manages to build on itself, so it's pretty difficult to understand the mental state of the characters or how they develop. The ending deserves all the disdain that it gets, though I'd be singing a different tune if they'd just packed it in after that discussion between Megumi and the principal. I like how Alien 9 only offers a glimpse at a volatile time in three girls lives before unceremoniously ending. In that regard, the structure of this adaptation is kinda comparable to puberty itself, where you just go through a bunch of traumatic shit that forever impacts you before having everything end without closure. Even though I think that this is just alright, I can definitely see myself revisiting it again in the future like I have just now. I've always been a fan of the character designs and art direction of this series, and that distinctive low-budget feel with the music and visual presentation also added quite a bit of charm to the experience. |

| Good lord it's only 4 episode, if it more maybe i will very dislike yuri cause she always crying but with that unexplained ending it started to confuse me, what tf is happened |
| So it completely falls apart narratively as a result of being an incomplete adaptation. The first 2 episodes were decent but these last 2 episodes are really uninteresting. The directing is kind of dull in the last few eps, seems like there was a change of director, might have been a result of that. |
| It's a perplexing watch with very little plot or meaning, and far too much crying. Maybe the manga is better. At least the visual direction is superb, and the plot is an original take on alien invasions. I just wish it was more cohesive. |

| Even if the manga has more story past this, that's no excuse for this 4 episode OVA to be such an incoherent mess. Like genuinely, what the fuck happened???? It's just random unexplained bullshit scenes one after another. Like, for example... Why did Kasumi let herself get eaten?? Wtf were those rods that jutted out of Yellow Knife's back??? Why was Kasumi in some yellow room inside Yellow Knife??? Why did Yuri suddenly start dreaming she could fly??? Why was Kasumi suddenly inside the school building and why did a weird human-alien thing crawl inside her???? Why do the girls all have some sort of mystical shared senses??? How come stabbing Yellow Knife in the head caused Kasumi to come out??? What was with those Kasumi faces??? Why did she try to kill Kumi???? Why did Yellow Knife explode in flames?????? It's fake symbolism. They made cool (debatable) imagery but forgot to make any sense of it. And to top it all off, Yuri is the most ANNOYING protagonist ever. |
