I hated the artstyle and I was expecting high hopes since this gen is my favorite and that says a lot because I was one of the ones who's first Pokemon games were Red and Blue. I will be buying this game anyway, (I loathed Sword and Shield) and I will hopefully reinvigorate my Pokemon interests. I will be getting the Platinum Costumes as I didn't know that was an option, I'll need to see how to buy them. Edit: I wanted to post this trailer for the original diamond and pearl for nostalgia posting. The commercial still holds up pretty well for the present right now IMO. |

So Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl just got leaked a while ago... I admit I saw a couple of the leaks yesterday before they quickly started disappearing. I mean, if these remakes are gonna be so faithful that it's gonna be exactly like the games I've known for 14 years, then there technically shouldn't be any spoilers for me regardless of what I end up finding, right? Not gonna put the leaks on here or talk too much about them though, because some people just don't want leaks for anything and I will at least respect that. All I'm really gonna say is... weeeell yup... that was exactly what I thought it was going to be. These really are safe remakes and the aesthetic's first impression of that really did carry over to the entire game in a way. If you've never played the original Diamond and Pearl and are not expecting any content from Platinum, then you should be content with Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl when it comes out. Anyone else saw anything and want to discuss a bit? Anything explicitly detailed about the leaks must be kept in spoiler tags for the convenience of any non-spoiler-seekers around here please. |

Fans and Chinese people doing bootlegs in basement make better pokemon games than the whole fucking company for a while, so I had zero expectations, and Im glad I did. I'm not sure, but I heard there is no Battle Frontier, is that correct? |

Considering past remakes have actually included way more content and updated mechanics compared to the originals, this has to be one of the worst "remakes" I've ever seen. It's more like a re-skin. Sorry, but who the hell wants to play base D/P with nothing from Platinum with ugly mobile game graphics? I thought the philosophy of the remakes was to reinvent, and update the originals for a new audience, but BDSP does literally nothing new. Faithful doesn't necessarily mean good. Fire Red and Leaf Green were also faithful re-skins that locked all new content behind the post-game, while omitting concepts introduced in Yellow. I'm not surprised Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl do the same, not when Diamond and Pearl were already better games than Red and Blue. The only disappointment is seeing them charge double the price of a GBA game. But even this has precedent with the Link's Awakening re-skin. |

Amffy said: It kinda feels like a stab in the heart whenever I see so many people saying "why on earth are you expecting the Battle Frontier and the Distortion World? those are Platinum content, why are you expecting Platinum content for Diamond and Pearl remakes?" these days. It sounds like I'm exaggerating, but I have legit seen a good amount of these whether it's on YouTube videos talking about their worry over the games that have been unfairly dislike-bombed to oblivion (*cough cough* Gireum's latest video on Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl *cough*) or on some parts of Twitter talking about the leaks.Platinum did everything D/P did but better and is still playable to this day. I thought the philosophy of the remakes was to reinvent, and update the originals for a new audience, but BDSP does literally nothing new. Faithful doesn't necessarily mean good. It's like people are trying to pretend that HeartGold and SoulSilver do not exist because those games are the antithesis of this argument. Along with updating Johto in the slightly enhanced gen 4 engine from Platinum, making these remakes feel like a new Johto experience and an overall brand new Pokémon game at the time, these remakes also included some content from the 3rd Johto title/sister release. These are Gold and Silver remakes and yet there were features added in that I clearly did not recognize the first time I played SoulSilver, as I had played Silver before but not Crystal. The added emphasis on Suicune and not making the Legendary a Roaming Pokémon? That was from Crystal. The accompanying character Euisine and his arc relating to the new Suicune changes? Crystal. Kurt letting you give him multiple Apricorns at once to make multiple Poké Balls the next day, the battle theme motif of the three legendary beasts, the few trainers calling through the PokéGear to give you items like evolutionary stones, and slight aesthetic changes like for the Goldenrod City flower shop exterior (so that the player doesn't miss it), Ice Path, etc.? Not in Gold and Silver as far as I remember. Hell, HeartGold and SoulSilver not only brought in the Battle Tower WHICH MADE ITS DEBUT IN CRYSTAL (once again, another feature not from the original Gold and Silver featured in a Gold and Silver remake), but went out of their way and beyond to bring the current gen's Battle Frontier alongside it. Sure, these facilities are all clearly copypasted from Platinum, but at least they frickin thought about including it (*cough* OR/AS *cough*). Don't even get me started with how they revamped the Kanto post-game enough to bring back areas nearly (in the case of Viridan Forest) or completely (in the case of the Safari Zone) removed in the original games because of hardware space. They did not have to do all of this and yet they did, and I feel like we can never give all the effort put into HeartGold and SoulSilver enough appreciation. Stuff like these instances and not just the fact the originals are nostalgic favorites are why I and many others consider these games to be the best Pokémon remakes. So while I admit that the BD/SP leaks revealed a few pleasant surprises, it's a shame that it doesn't feel like ILCA went all out like GF did for HG/SS. ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ FiendishChan said: Yes, BD/SP will not feature the Battle Frontier. It doesn't even look like the Resort Area's magic Magikarp lake or the Villa will return either. ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ Lucifrost said: Have you heard of Tama Hero? I have not heard of her. I do not plan to watch the entire video, but it appears she feels the same way I do about those games. Compared to previous games released THAT VERY SAME GENERATION, Fire Red and Leaf Green were blatantly inferior. I was glad to see the developers do better with Heart Gold and Soul Silver. As you said, those games were so much more than anyone could have expected. And what I didn't expect from Heart Gold and Soul Silver, I didn't expect from Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. |

The XCI and NSP are circling the web a full week and a half early than the official release date. Kaizokus are already playing it with jailbroken Switch Quality of Life Feature: exp share is in-game and can't be turned off & Capture exp is present as well. BTW No turn off exp share option; I fucking hate it already So, if you expect it to be a little difficult like the originals. Tough Luck. :/ Game Freak is catering to zoomers with this remake. Turn off brain and Mash A and win everything But going forward there'll be RomHacks that'll up the difficulty, so that's nice |

Playing this game on Yuzu, beat the first gym leader. My thoughts so far: - The shared EXP makes the games soooo easy and it's just sad - the ost is great apart from the crappy MIDI songs - pokemon models, animations and moves look pretty cool imo, but it's super duper slow for NO REASON. - The Youngster model looks crappy LOL - there is a crash during the choose pokemon scene but as long as you switch to vulkun you should be fine, but it's an annoyance. - The pokeball entrance maker is just stupid so far. - everything else is great. if you want to know anything about the game, just ask me :) |

The woman gives you Jirachi if you're apparently playing on a profile with Sword/Shield save data, and the man gives you Mew if the profile has Let's Go data. Worst remakes in the history of Pokémon and in the history of sucking, period! The TPC needs to cut the crap or else the zoomers and echo boomers will give them serious boycotting, grilling, whatever. Way to besmirch the D&P games and not give Sinnoh starters anything new. Like what is up with these second rate graphics? It's almost the new year of the tiger, hello!! The TPC really needs to go, like make like a tree and leave, literally. |

I'm playing this gen for the first time and really liking it. That might be why I'm enjoying it though, I had no expectations built on the old d/p/p games. Just feels like a good pokemon game with a lot to do to me, even if some stuff like the contests were gutted. Only thing I really dislike is the fact that exp share isn't a toggle. Also furnature was apparently in the old versions for the secret bases, that seems like a weird cut. |

It's not a remake, it's a Port of the original games to the Switch but in Mobile 3D Graphics. Didn't even bother using the superior version, Pokemon Platinum, as the base port. It doesn't have any Pokemon from Gen 5 onwards. They kept the Poketech, but made the controls a nightmare to navigate because the switch only has a single screen. Should had made the Poketech Apps Key Items in which you can bind to hotkeys. Only quality of life is making HMs an app on the Poketech. They added a helmet to the player when you ride your bike, yet it doesn't exist in the original game. Taking out the casino is understandable, but not this... The fashion options are character models, not fully customizable clothing you can swap interchangeably. Overall, the worst Pokemon "Remake" Titles |

What I love the most about Platinum: the special/physical split, Battle Frontier, and champion Cynthia and her Garchomp. As for whether I want the Sinnoh remakes or not, I would personally take a new region and new generation of Pokemon any day over a remake. I’d much rather have new content, new gameplay, new Pokemon, new characters, etc. Judging by the BDSP and Legends Arceus trailer, these two games are a huge pass for me, especially BDSP, which looks like a game that was made by people who couldn’t care less about Pokemon, and only care about money. I don’t want to sound too much like a pessimist or anything, but honestly, I think that Pokemon games have now reached an all-time low, due to developers cutting corners, not bringing any new content, and overcharging for the games. They know that the target audience is mostly kids, and believe that they’ll buy the games no matter how poorly made they are. I’ll be skipping the Sinnoh remasters, and will be looking forward to the new Gen 9 Pokemon and region, whenever that comes out 👌 |

What a mess the Pokémon franchise has become. It's like the TPC, Nintendo and Gamefreak don't want to make customers happy anymore. I rather spend 100 dollars for a new copy of Digital Devil Saga 2 with way more content than these remakes that hardly live up to the 60+ dollar price tag. It's safe to say Pokémon is the only bloated and overcommercialized battle monster franchise. I thought that the fairly new Yokai Watch game looked super or incredible and these new Pokémon games make Jade Cocoon look like a masterpiece. |
