Broke my heart, but the developments in this episode were so, so good. Can’t wait to see where it goes from here.

People are complaining here how they got their expectations crushed since she was shown as an adult in the opening. Which made the emotional impact stronger for them and they should be thankful. And then there's me, who instead noticed the scene in the opening where SHE'S SHOT BY AN ARROW. And since her toys are alive in the 'adult scene', that's obviously just a dream/vision sequence. Knowing all of that, the episode felt completely flat for me. And since there are other scenes in the opening, which can be interpreted as deaths, I'm afraid even more parts of the show might be ruined for me. I hope I'm wrong though.

Cried so hard I snotted. It started out as a few tears when she initially died then from the adult March scene to when they were in the village at the end it got progressivly worse.

Parona, why the hell did you not DESTROY Hayase!? You literally had 2 chances?! Fushi would never? Like seriously, what kind of saint are you? She literally drugged you, tried to kill March multiple times, actually KILLED March, and had no sense of value for anyone else's life!! And SHE gets to live? Like, I had a feeling they'd keep her around since they love to play nice and somehow let the most evil villains live to terrorize another day. It's literally a trope of people not finishing off the bad guy and everyone regrets it later, but I was hoping we'd go a different route here since I wanted this she-bag to die since the second she drugged them. Any normal person would have plunged that knife deep in her heart and called it Christmas, but nope, not saint Parona.

Omg please tell me this series ain't gonna pull an akame ga kill portrayal of death. Introducing a character then fleshing them out just to die at the end of their arc. Absolutely horrendous. Sure, it's heartbreaking at first, but repetitively killing your characters just to gain the emotional support of your audience is just shit writing. Not hating on the series, in fact, I really love the plot and its narrative. Just worried it'll become like one. Still, rip March, shit hurts as hell.

It feels as if the anime has already concluded, I'm satisfied asf. But damn was hoping things would turn out better but alas... Reality is more cruel.

Behold of my awesomeness~

am i the only one who was unsatisfied with this? unlike ep 1 where the foreshadowing and execution were all top tier, this was just a "taking a bullet for someone" cliche. i don't know if i missed some of the depth, i watched it a few days ago. i was just thinking about this and realized how underwhelming it was. maybe i just didn't like march enough or maybe it's the pacing idk.

this is still one of my favorite anime this season so hopefully the next arc brings something better.

I can't believe this anime pulled a jjk opening on me. I've been deceived. Twice. Never gonna trust anime opening theme ever again.

Why's that woman who was chasing March and co alive? I thought the blow from Fushi was lethal enough for her to cost her life. Annoyed by the fact she's still breathing.

Well, that was soul crushing. Lot of props goes to March's seiyuu, really really brought the character to life.

Another tear jerking episode like the 1st one. Looks like I'm gonna get teary eyed in all the episode which will contain a death of an mc.

At least March didn't die being a sacrifice to a nonexistent Oniguma-sama. March's death had meaning.

Can this anime stop killing the characters I got attached to please ? If you wanna kill someone just kill the crazy lady who wants to sacrifice children, not this poor March ! I hope other characters will survive a bit longer.

Other than that, it's interesting how Fushi is learning emotions. What's even more interesting is that we can see he learned facial expressions from people who were important to him. He smiles like the young boy, he cries like March... I wonder how many other characters will have this kind of influence on him.

This anime goes with the easy way of making the watcher cry by making some characters die, and I'm fine with it, at least for the moment.

I'm really looking forward to see this anime being the aot. Let's see.

The fake is of far greater value. In its deliberate attempt to be real, it's more real than the real thing.

Rip March. She was such a lovely lass to. Too young as well. Damn.

I like this episode but I cannot say I am loving this as the 8.66 score would suggest. Anyways this was a good arc seriously and I hope the quality only gets better.

I didn't expect the girl to die at all.

The scene where Fushi stopped the girl from suicide was beautiful. The production so far is just so good. The detail in the drawings, the facial expressions etc. Just beautiful. OST's as well.

March's death wasn't that impactful as the show failed to make me care for her. Thou the part with Parona was really sad. I truly felt bad for her. Fushi and Parona's interactions were quite impactful.

Finally an episode that left a good impression on me but still this anime is nowhere near as good as people are describing it to be.

Never has an anime episode made me sob as much as when Parona was about to kill herself with March crying out to her from the other side. This show is so incredible so far, they really nailed character integrity and emotional beats. Edit: Seeing a lot of people hating on March.... y'all are just haters 😤😩 I think the show did a really good job of portraying a child, going through a traumatic event, navigating nuanced social structures and trying to find her way. Yes, her being upset about Parona wanting to skin Oniguma was frustrating from a pragmatic perspective, however we also do not know the cultural significance of desecration in March's culture (in many cultures desecration is a sign of gross disrespect); not to mention, March became very attached to Oniguma as she cleaned his body and tended his wounds, and he came to symbolize a lot of her dreams. Also, frankly, I think Parona was being a little optimistic in believing that her people would give up a long held custom of ritual sacrifice just because she brought home a patch of fur.

AHHHH another sad episode that left me bawling my eyes out. I kinda spoiled myself March's death so I knew what was coming but still left me crying. The scene where they showed us what could have been of March, with her looking all grown up was honestly so sad.

Fushi stopping Perona of killing herself was such an intense moment. Loved this episode!

I thought March was going to survive since there was someone similar to her in the OP...

Damn it. Damn Hayase and Yanome. It was so satisfying to see Fushi become Oniguma and then injure Hayase and destroy so many of their warriors.

Hope we get to see more of Parona in the future. I love her character.

that was rough. that hurt. tears were shed. a sweet, kind, caring, innocent little girl dying...oof. not just dying, but being offered as a sacrifice. and then somehow escaping. and making this mysterious, magical new friend. and then escaping again. just to be murdered while protecting her "sister". fuck...

thank you, march. you are unquestionably the star of the show. i honestly didn't care for this show much before you came around

I can't count how many times I cried while watching this episode. It fucking hurts so much. I loved March the most, just seeing her made me happy and I loved her goofy personality and the way she died. I knew it was coming but it still made me cry. That part where she told Parona that they could be a family together. I'm so angry that evil woman is still alive at the end, she should've been completely squished when Fushi was in his Oniguma form.

Still, it's bittersweet and also heartbreaking to know that Fushi can transform into March. What's going to happen when Parona and March's family sees him again in that form with the wound too?
