How can you do our boy Bam like that? Damn, you wanna see those stars or what? Poor Bam just needs to give up on her, not worth his time and effort at this point.

Look at these manga readers spoiling stuff to anime-onlys. Thank god we have mods who add the spoiler tags, but you get the point. ToG has one of the most childish fandoms I've seen to date.

Someone please tell me why they didn't include the Endorsi X Bam content? Even in some of the previous episodes they don't exist. Honestly the webtoon is one of my all time favourites and even though I rate anime purely on enjoyment, I couldn't help myself but be extremely critical on this, the final scene was poorly done, there was no emphasis on the push, just a frame change and him falling. Bams fight scene wasn't any better aswell, very poorly executed and rushed. Oh well all I can do is hope that a different studio who know how to do a good job and have some passion take over for season 2 and try and fix these mistakes.

I think when an anime fails to immerse us into them, or we are already biased before watching, we become very critical of that anime. Just my $0.02

Ah, this is what we all wait for in season 1. I just wish other readers wouldn't spoil all the fun. Now I am waiting for season 2, that's where ToG really got me on hook and never let me since, not even on long boring parts.

Kinda feel you, but I think the only thing that was really bad was the direction and the decision to turn 78 chapters into 13 episodes, that made them cut out so many important dialogues and explanations.
I think that art and animation were not so bad for a studio of this caliber, I think that if they had opted for an art style with shadows it would have been much more digestible.
Now we can only pray that the second season (the best season), will have a better treatment

Yeah I think that it has to due to the fact that they probably didn't have the biggest budget and also since this was the first manhwa adaptation they wanted to see if it would do good. Thankfully though most likely the next season will be slower paced, because the their are only 2 places it can end without it just ending in the middle of an arc and that's after they visit the hand of arlene or after the workshop battle. If they end its most likely going to be a 12 or 13 episode season but if they end it after the workshop arc it's probably going to be 24 or 25 episodes. In both cases that's around 4.5 chapters per episode compared to season 1 which had 6.5 chapters per episode. The only way they mess up badly on pacing is if they say f it and do all the way to the workshop battle in 12 episodes but that's unlikely. The only other thing is that I worry about the animation because season 2 has a lot of fights and a lot more effects.

I still thinks that 120 episodes for season 2 would be good, 360 chapters into 120 episodes would be very good, i will start reading the manhwa on chapter 74 this month, TOG has a very good quality lore and characters.

Rak is boring for other reasons though. His running gags are not as funny as the show thinks they are.

Am I the only one who thinks that the cliff-hanger would have been the perfect wrap-up for season 1? I visited the MAL page of the anime just to realize that one episode is yet to be aired. Can episode 13 top the excitement and intensity delivered by this episode? Or it would have been better end season 1 with this episode?

They set that up as the climax, now for the falling action

Rachel betraying Bam was super predictable but I was a little surprised by her standing up lol She didn't actually become disabled I see so what was this all for...I don't remember who helped her faking it. I guess she had a reason (but well this show isn't very logical so possibly a very weak reason or no real reason at all).

I'm confused about who that guy who looked exactly like Khun was, I mean I thought he was Khun's brother but didn't seem like it but anyway I forgot who Maria was so rip.

One of the most valued aspect of ToG, as I can get from reading comments from here and there, is the capacity of it to "surprise" the audience. Even on MAL the name "Tower of betrayals" can be read on every episode forum.
What really shocks me is the capacity of this people to get "surprised" by this. I don't like to theorize whil watching a new show because of the probability of hitting it, but this anime is absurdilly full of cliches. As much in the "character development" (assuming there is any real "character" to begin with) as in the storytelling.
Did anyone believe that Endorsi was to kill Anaak? No one expected Yuri to save them in the last momment? Was anybody surprised from that last betrayal? And Anaak and Endorsi passing from declared enemies to "we're friends and we'll climb together"... God, this is awfull... I already rated it with 3/10 but after this it might still drop from that.

I'm not saying that you can't enjoy this anime/manga, but I just can't understand how someone who is older than 12 y/o can call this unpredictable...

Maybe I'm just to old for this, who knows...

Agreed lol I don't know if I should laugh or cry reading all these comments and reviews praising this joke of an anime.

As reader of the Manhwa, the anime just made me appreciate the originial work even more in this episode. I didn't remember Anaak and Endrossi's relationship being so touching, and Endrossi being so thoughtful and supportive over the fake princess. Their camaraderie has been on a different level I remembered.

Is this following the manhwa to a tee or did I just forget about this? I think it would make sense I forgot because

Hahhhaha I understand how you feel. However, I still don't feel like it got murdered and the next seasons would always be better than the first one. My hope is that they noticed how 1. Many people dropped it, so they have to step up next season; 2. Enough people are following for Crunchyroll to decide to continue this series.

You didn't get it. He wanted Endorsi to attack him, cause by doing so she would be rebelling against the King's rule, so Ren would be able to get rid of her according to the law then. He can't lay a finger on her otherwise because of two reasons: she is a princess, so attacking her first would be treason and another one is that rankers can't interfere with regulars during tests (or more widely, in regular-only areas). There was also another reason he wanted to kill her in the webtoon that wasn't shown in the anime.

Episode was okay-ish. Better than previous ones, for sure.
This test was such a mess that I even forgot what the fuck they were supposed to do in the first place.

It's kinda funny seeing Anaak, of all people, actually believe in Bam, let alone call upon the almighty friendship power. It'd be understandable if it was for Endorsi, but Bam? Nah.

Yuri was cool. Way more OP than I thought.

Everytime I see Bam and Rachel, I want to gouge my own eyes out. I don't know Rachel's motives, but could Bam not be so damn attached to her? He doesn't need to climb the tower, he just needs some real psychotherapy.

As an anime only, I must ask: will it always be like "it'll get good later on"? It's been 13 episodes, there's barely anything there, even when the anime left out a lot of stuff (according to webtoon readers).
I'm basically like Lauroe, sleeping through whole episodes.

it does get better but second season, season one mostly cut out unimportant info. tbh season one actually didnt even explain much of anything in the webtoon either

Since this show does not have a shounen tag on myanimelist, I never considered it a shounen, starting the show. But let's face it, even if it may not be a BNHA, it clearly has a lot of shounen esque features.
A friend and I talked about it here:
https://youtu.be/CTmKsLeWI-Q

I guess that was my problem, starting the show. I was expecting something more mysterious, something more though provthough-provokingoking that was going to riddle you with the universe itself and the true nature of the tower and the climbing "game", hooking us from one episode to the next with the sheer mystery around everything.
Now I finally realized what this show really is and I accepted that it basically is a shounen and suddenly, I can enjoy it much more. :D

[Quick heads up, I'm an anime-only.]
I knew that Rachael was fake, but when she stood up and pushed Bam, like... why would she do that? Since the very beginning she's been trying to so hard to separate herself from him...

~ First, it was because she wanted to see the stars and he was the "burden that she would have to leave behind to climb the tower". [Me internally: a bit sketchy, but it was just the beginning]
~ Then, she didn't want to climb the tower with him because "they would be each other's weakness". [Me internally: I understand, but it got on my nerves that there's no deeper/further explanation.]
~ Then, she tries to use her disability to not advance to the next stage only for Bam to step in so that she could take the test too. [Me internally: Nope. I don't trust her as Rak can throw a spear.]

All the times that she's nice, it's been in front of Bam or from his point of view. Was she doing it to save face? She seems so dead set on leaving Bam behind because of what? Is it because he's too powerful? Does his power interferes with some power she has that we haven't seen yet?

Everything she does contradicts what she says to Bam. I hope that this clear betrayal is the final push that Bam needs to find a goal beyond just getting to Rachael. Even if it's something as simple as finding out both of their origins to understand Rachael's motivations. Because no one can be this much of a... weasel (and that's putting it lightly) without other motives that we just haven't seen yet.

Yes welcome to the Tower of God...the fanbase with one of the biggest amount of childish people who love to spoil people before they can get into the anime and actual Manhwa.

I'm rarely mad but seeing this episode and its twist honestly made me mad. This could have been a better scene had myself and many others have not been spoiled. Getting spoiled around his Episode 1 and waay before when then reveal trailer came out, I mean come on guys!

"Rachel THIS!"

"Rachel THAT"

"F U RACHEL!"

Non stop with no end, it's ridiculous, absolutely in terrible taste. No matter where I go or even went, this was everywhere, all it takes is a glimpse at a review or someone trying to convince you to watch the anime.

Everything in the episode was great up to the "Foreseeable" end, I never get this critical here but the betrayal and the TOG fanbase has triggered me.

Now let's end this so I may decide whether I will pick up the Manhwa after, because Im scared there's going to be assholes with spoilers at the bottom of every new chapter.

Weaker episode compared to the last one. While I kinda appreciated the originality in the anime, what they have done in episode 12 was pretty horrible.

1. Compliment first. Did an amazing job in adapting the theme of betrayal throughout the episode. As they kept highlighting the relationship between Bam and Rachel to Endorsi and Anaak, Rachel's betrayal may seemed little bit more obvious but the theme of betrayal was well implemented.

2.. The anime version of this arc is damn cringy. Where did this 'friendship overcoming obstacles' thing even come from? And this was said literally from Anaak. wtf? I guess friendship thing is what people are more familiar with, but this was just too shonen-like which did not suit the series. Whilst I agree that the original source has a lot of shonen elements, it was not as cringy as this one. I don't know if such cringy originality was necessary.

3. This anime constantly showed how it lacks in understanding the original source. I really hate how I have to keep mention about the original source like a dickhead, but look at what Yuri and Kurdan are doing. Wtf are they doing in the anime? Kurdan literally just appeared in front of Ren to kill him which doesn't make any sense. Yuri was not supposed to kill Ren as that will be a treason against Jahad. As a famous Jahad's princess wielding Black March, she just cannot do that and thats why Evan said she should not bother. So instead Kurdan had to kill Ren for Yuri's sake..., but not fking in front of Ren. Think about it. If they were gonna kill Ren anyway, Yuri could do it then as there will be no proofs left. But she couldn't because Ren there was a clone. If she ever attempts to kill Ren then real Ren is gonna tell Zahad bout it. Whereas Kurdan can kill Ren from a distance as he is a wave controller (specifically a Cutter, who can pin point a target with a shinsoo at a distance). By killing the clone at a far distance, Ren cannot get a solid proof that Yuri has killed him, or the killer is in alliance with Yuri. But Kurdan still appeared like a man. So what's the point of all the trouble then....? If it was a clone, Kurdan should not have showed up. If it was real, Yuri could do it easy. It doesn't make sense either way in the anime lol.
