Got to give credit to that English captain. Despite the torture he didn't break, stayed loyal to his country and his God and when the reinforcements were there he sowed panic among Askeladds men by mentioning Thorkell was coming.

We've already seen 2 impressive killer spear throws so far, but this 4-man skewer puts both of those to shame.

I forgot about this part where Askeladd's men start to betray him, I forgot what happens next, am looking forward to having that part of my memory refreshed as well.

Also I'm pretty sure that must've been painful for the english captain who got his fingers chopped off, but I think it would've been even more painful of Askeladd shoved those shears up his finger nails.

The crew has finally split in half. The loyal and disloyal. I understand why both sides exist and it makes sense. I'm just excited to see which side wins. I am starting to doubt that Thorkell is a human I think he is a Norse god in disguise because how did he catch 4 bodies with one spear throw and not only that they went flying? Now two fights we most likely break out first the crew then against Thorkell.

That history lesson with Askeladd was good. It's a kill-or-be-killed world, and the strongest has the right to claim everything. The weak can choose between subjugation or death. Such human nature will continue until all of us embrace transhumanism at some point, or we become extinct.

Askeladd is such a tough teacher to both Thorfinn and Cnut. Thorfinn has already transformed into a decent man. I look forward to seeing Cnut's.
Thorkell is right. Once a coward, always a coward. It's a wise decision to kill those deserters.
Interesting turn of events. I didn't expect so many of Askeladd's men would turn against him. They have been through thick and thin for a decade or so.

I want to think Thorkell's "warm welcome" to the deserters had to be at least semi-intentional on Askeladd's part.

Thorfinn was probably thinking "they better not kill him before he gives me my 58th duel" at the end

Askeladd's men are turning on him. And Thorkell is finally catching up to them very fast. This is definitely a difficult situation but something tells me that Askeladd has probably thought of something

This episode is the first time I somewhat liked and respected Thorkell. If they betray someone else when the going gets tough, they'll betray you when the going gets tough. It reminds me of an old yaoi that I read. I should put it on my list as completed... Freezing Flame. Where the guy wouldn't hire the traitors because he knew that it was foolish to hire people that gave away secrets that ruined the company they worked at.

Yes... Other than that moment, not a fan of Thorkell. I don't share the samd infatuation that most people here seem to have with Thorkell. He's an insane and violent warmonger. He has no morals or empathy. He just kills for the fun of it.

watever, they all deserve that shit... the only ones that i actually care on that anime and i hope they get through all that bs r the prince and thorfinn (oh the priest is cool too, i like him)
but despite it all, askeladd can be a psycopath, but those that betrayed actually manage to be wayyyy worse than him
