My brother suggests a lot of music to me, and there's a band he suggested to me called Portugal The Man. Pretty interesting stuff, also not very well-known at all.
Daft Punk is also a must for me right now. Gotta love that stuff.

I have for unknown reasons neglected listening to Mono before last week. I'm mildly put, in love. Other than Mono, I've also found a band called No Made Sense. They're pretty heavy stuff. I also recently discovered an indie singer/songwriter with a cute, charming voice named Madeline Ava. There are a few free downloads up on last.fm for anyone interested in that. Actually, her whole album is free to download apart from a few songs, it seems. Here it is.

A very unusual electronic/trance that isn't exactly slow, but the flow is spacey and mesmurizing. Unlike the very fast-paced "high-pitched" techno I'm used to hearing.

Artist: Jokke Iisoe
Track: Feeling Good

I wrote on my facebook status a few hours ago about why my taste in music is so backwards. I'm not quite updated with the current music on the radio, though I listen to Adele, Lady Gaga and indie bands. Others, not much.

Lately, I've been listening to a lot of FRANK ZAPPA. I never thought that his music was genius because I've always of Zappa as just a satirical music artist. He's so great.

recently Agraph got me into chill, that guy is awesome. I'm surprised nobody has said LAMA since they formed and started doing op/end themes just this year, and will release on 11/30.

also Sakanaction, M83, and Toddle just released new material, all of which are great.

and to the people who put sigor ros, the knife, and radiohead: I second your opinion, those are great bands

My latest discovery has to be The Darkness. A really good British rockband. And hey, with a lead singer that looks like a horny pirate, it's great!

As for JPop, I just discovered the music of Macross Frontier. Some good stuff right there.

Shoujo Byou. I became aware of them when Qwaser II aired and i listened to Zankyou Legion later because of it. It wasn't until a few months ago that i seriously started looking into them. Interesting concept band.

edit: The song Metaphor does not fully represent what the band is about because it's a very straightforward song, probably contracted for the anime or built "radio friendly" for the record company. The B-side of the single Haiiro no Transient is much closer to how they do things normally. Which also lead to a bit of a shock at first as i was expecting something along the lines of the Metaphor from the album.

(Well, now, my post about David Bowie from August 2009 is currently staring me in the face. Talk about a blast from the past. It's like someone else wrote it.)

As of late, The Talking Heads have really been growing onto me. I need to look into them more.

I actually found some new musicians yesterday, first one was Blankfield, metal/doujin-ish

And the one i've been listening the most to has to be Yuyoyuppe or ゆよゆっぺ whatever you prefer, metal/vocaloid musician

I barely listen to vocaloid music but i've started to since they have stuff like that and not just j-pop miku hatsune songs

You will definetly not regret it.

This piece, a few days ago. Don't know how to classify it, Melodic Black Metal doesn't really satisfy me, but it's awesome.
