I misconstrued Miki's character in the first watch of this anime. I thought she was docile and that's why she was struggling with Nagasaki however it was more clear this time that she felt for him and wanted to help him. It more so recontextualized his greed as a struggle even if he was a slimebag. So it wasn't a "how do I refuse nude photos" it was a "he's an alright guy who needs sympathy even if he wants nude photos". That said, she did need a push to comfort Akira and I think it meant a lot to him to be reminded that he had someone even if he couldn't tell her about happened. That push was her realizing sometimes guys are bad with their words like the rappers and she needs to be a little assertive with them instead of passively wanting good things to happen. This episode did show a lot of action from her. In particular not even going over last episode where she stood up for the rappers when no one else including Miko would, here she saved a devilman Miko from a demon when she was shaking. The ordinary human Miki pulled her along with her. She is dang strong! Although perhaps too idealistic as she kinda totally represents humanity at its best. All that said, I'm starting to see the baton imagery and stuff like Akira and Miki seeing the good in people like this as well as future events as making a major theme in Devilman Crybaby to reach out to others and see the good in them, even if they don't see it themselves, and to have hope perhaps to beat out futility and nihilism.

This time I'm starting to feel Miko was written too on the nose, she clearly is flawed humanity, a human who pushes what she isn't onto someone who she wants to be enviously when that person does nothing but good for them. She just needs a person to hate to keep on going despite the fact that it's inwards she should look not outwards. The implication is she always felt this I'm sure, we can see it in the beginning when she is the one who docily gets raped presumably by Nagasaki as she tries to be Miki and has a thing for Akira when he's too obsessed with Miki to notice. So she then externalizes all this envy and self-hate as a 'I need to be better than Miki and get out of her shadow'. So perhaps I like her character a lot and how her personality doesn't change just the ways he acts on it with a devil inside her, I just think her "I NEED TO BEAT MIKI!!" over and over is the on the nose part of her character. Perhaps it's simply another one of the rough edges Crybaby bares much like it's rushed exposition.

Also, I didn't exactly piece it together last time but Akira's development is quite awesome. Mr. Crybaby Empathy was finally shown some of his hypocrisy, dehumanizing demons and not even seeing their signs of camaraderie and fear, it was only when he saw undeniable love that he realized these were more than just 1D evil creatures and it sent him thinking about it. The shock of the demon he had become and then the friendship of Miki balanced him out again and he could cry again, as he did as he reached out for Koda. I also didn't piece it together but Koda is crying after he's told how sad he is because it's probably the only time someones realized that about him in the state he's in. His teammates found him scary. So, seeing him escape to think about and cry to his dead boyfriend is the rational next step!

I also love how last episode had two Ryou details, him doubting demons ability to love and also his line about how he just had a gut feeling Akira was in danger. Although the Sirene fight is far longer and more brutal in the manga I love it's concise, visceral beauty and purpose in the Crybaby counterpart.

Didn't expect that opening to an episode. Gay sex. I didn't know Kudo was gay. I thought he was trying to get together with Miko. I guess I just misunderstood.

Everytime Miko runs her boobs are flopping around everywhere. Maybe that's why she was slower than Miki. Carring that extra weight. I wonder if she'll lose control also.

So Akira didn't switch the drinks but I guess Ryo spiked both drinks. Smart.

Man, I can feel like something terrible is going to happen to Miki. I just know it.

Pretty great episode. I wonder how long before (if?) Akira realizes Ryou is the real villain here.

Some whiny homophobes all over this discussion, yikes. Could handle all the over the top violence and sexual imagery in this show, but not consensual gay sex?

I am tired of these people not being called out for all this unnecessary cringe. The sheer ignorance, hypocrisy and bigotry at display lol.

Never imagined getting an anime episode with male on male sex, and a minor Donald Trump president cameo in the same episode (nor would I think to ever imagine that) but of course, Devilman Crybaby is here to shock the system and do whatever it wants.

It was a really intense and gruesome episode as a whole again, with so much going on. From witnessing Ryo's characterization and shithousery against the world occur first hand by scheming this massacre at the stadium with sacrificing so many people to open the eyes of the world to darkness and destruction essentially. He had no qualms really watching the world burn in front of him with actions like that. Plus, seeing other subplots occur like Miko trying to beat Miki in the marathon with utilizing her demon abilities that she gained, anything to do to be called Miki instead and have the spotlight, and much more.

OMG! There's too many psychological insights in this plot... Actually, the art intro says it for itself! Really loving this narrative! Ryo is the real Satan: uses his power and knowledge to use Akira (so naive about his friend intentions) and Koda at this episode, who was mercilessly and selfishly exposed just for satisfaction to forward his obscure plans. The final is really impressive... Instead of judging and killing Koda, Akira (after smelling the betrayal / falsehood / manipulation from Ryo and having learned that demons have feelings too after Silene and Kaim's fusion) saves the boy, that was totally armored by his fame, treated distantly by others and feeling completely lonely and helpless til that moment.

I kinda wonder if the director decided to sneak in naked boobs in every episode. I'm pretty sure it has been the case in all episodes so far.

Ryo is really ruthless. I wonder what's going to happen now that demons have been exposed.

By far the best episode. Ryo is such a cold blooded bastard. It doesn't matter to him how many people will die because of him. The tournament was pretty sick but it ended up in a bloody killing game. The guy listening music on his phone before dying was way too funny. A fight in the end between Akira and the Demon.

Miki is still so courageous in a situation like this, I think Miki might be angel.

The devilman Miki looks hot tho, than tanned skin and big boobs. 😳

I want Akira to save Koda, his boyfriend Junichi's death broke him, turned him into a demon.

Now the whole world knows demons exist.

Also Trump in anime lol.

And Ryo is one cold savage, this guy is more demon than demons.

The planning scenes for the mission were so fast it made little sense until it played out, like where Akira drank some liquid and was just bashing bulletproof glass?
Immediately after the scene he’s fine and at home?

The storytelling is so damned rushed in this show

dude, really, i really am unsure if this Junichi guy who died, if it was on the airport episode or if it just didn't happen on screen. If it's the first case, it means i really really cannot care about anything here, to the point i already don't know details of the anime.

Ryo finally broadcasted the reality of demons to the world and akira flew away with koda in the end. Simply amazing

Seems pretty silly that Akira didn't even try to save the dozens of people that Koda killed. After yelling at Ryo a bit he just disapears from the scene.

Oh, yeah, it's the rapper guy watching the event from the phone that has a crush on Miko, not the gay athlete Koda. This show could do with differentiating the designs of its supporting cast better.
Ryo uses Akira as a guinea pig for his dastardly plan later.
Three devilmen on the track, all doing their iconic demonic running stances.
Fucking idiot with his headphones on.
Ryo will show the world that demons exist at the cost of the spectators and other athletes.

God the moment this show picked up was probably here at this episode in particular I mean yes the show was already dark with it’s gore, violence and sex but this is where things go to shit in this. Koda getting exposed as a demon, chaos and pandemonium at the stadium and all because Ryo triggered that poor guy’s demon instincts. I kind of figured from episode 1 that there was something off with Ryo in particular because of the fact that he was killing people at the Sabbath and that he didn’t seem to have any regard for human lives whatsoever. Now he’s made it public that demons are real and amongst the human race. Akira even realises that Ryo can’t be trusted so he lies to him over the phone in order to save Koda’s life.

I never thought I’d see a gay sex scene in the very beginning of this episode but there we go. I’d say it’s the best episode for me.

Really sick. Great action, Demons get revealed to the world and of course really good music. Also a gay sex scene 10 seconds into the episode has to be a record.

Got tired of seeing hella tits and vagina? Don't worry, we got dick up next. Just why? There's so many other ways to show that the dude was close to the the dude that died, and you chose that way to show it. Okay.

There's so many times this episode where this dumbass Ryou could've been caught red handed inflicting this whole mess. Like when Akira called out to him when he started playing the porn or whatever. But only people in the arena or on the track could've maybe said something, sure.

I know that somebody, somewhere in that world could've pointed out and connected the dots when he started explaining what a devil is... because it's so fucking obvious that he set this up. If people in that chat could say some silly shit like "OMG RYYOU IS SO HOT EVEN UNDER MESSES LIKE THIS", then I KNOW SOMEONE CAN SAY SOMETHING ABOUT THIS... FUCK.

Next episode would hope would be better, being a fight and all, the ONLY saving grace for this shit.

So before a demon, he wanted to bang chicks, becoming a demon turned him gay?!
WTF.

That finale was great, didnt seen that coming at all.

Bibimbapski said:
People are complaining about the gay sex scene but they're not criticizing the fact that Akira/Devilman raped Silene in the last episode? Talk about hypocrites.

WTF are you talking about?
That was not rape, that bitch wanted to fuck him, but she turned into demon while at it and then tried to kill him, which he gone back at her by trying to also kill her.

Did you even watch the episode? He was in love with his teammate Junuichi before he got murdered and he became a demon.

The way they run is so dumb.

I dunno, I just don't think this series has that much to say about anything and it doesn't have anything special going for it in terms of its animation or anything either. At some point this show might've felt like a really over-the-top transgression against something or somebody with all the rape and murder going on but now it feels like a juvenile pile of nonsense. I assume the manga takes more time to develop what's there but I immediately felt like this show was basically Kill La Kill on steroids and cocaine (negative) and this far in I can't imagine being shaken from that assessment.
