Does anyone happen to know any award-wining yaoi (or shounen-ai) manga? Lol I need to make some progress with the challenge but I really don't feel like reading anything other than BL.

Try Zankoku na Kami ga Shihai suru, just finished it and it was decent. It won the osamu tezuka award and has a ton of shounen ai in it.
Thanks, it helps a lot! (looks like it's even on my PTR already though I didn't know it won an award)

None. Also, to be honest, I super do not recommend Usagi Drop. Incest is bad.

12. Read a manga written by someone from the Year 24 Group

Anyone have good recommendations from any of the authors? Not familiar with any of their work and it's a lot to choose from.

51. Read a manga based on real event or person

Not sure what to pick for this either say a few selections but the scanlations were terrible.

60. Read a manga recommended to you by another Manga Reading Challenge

Something not super long preferably and completed? I'm not picky.

50. Read a manga that has a main character of gender opposite to the demographic

This one sounds kind of obvious but anything I can think of is dual protagonists (boy and girl) and I wouldn't think that would count. Anyone have an idea or use for this?

Thank in advance.

@Stripesu

For the Year 24, since you've enjoyed Red River from your rating, you might check Marginal, maybe. I think that they're similar, except one is historical while the other is post-apo sci-fi. Other than that they're both adventury, desert environment, middle-east influence, little smutty, very light fantasy…

For typical Year 24 rec', it would be Terra e, Thomas no Shinzou (works for the gender opposite to the demographic) and Versailles no Bara (works for a real event).

Hi, I'd like something for #60 as well, it would be nice it it's pretty short, finished, has a clean art style, and is something unique. It could be a different character, a plot you haven't seen before, a new twist to a cliché. Something that at one point made you think "hm, that's new". It's a bonus it it's good as well ;)
It'd be a bonus-bonus if you say what part of it is special in a short and concise way.
I hope I get something, the challenge would be pretty hard to complete otherwise :)

Yeah, there's a clear reason why the manga is ranked low and the anime is ranked very high. I'm actually surprised that the manga has even held a 7.

i've finally finished the manga challenge (will finish the anime challenge probably later this month)^^

after posting my turn-in form i noticed that
1. the order in the user / completed challenge list is wrong (at "Turn-In Form || Sign-Up Form")
2. the list hasn't been "updated" for more than 5 weeks

is there a reason for that, @MRC_mod ?
i am patient and wouldn't really have a problem with waiting for a while but there haven't been that many turn-ins after the last successful try and 5 weeks is a pretty long time.

She might just be busy. Also could just be saving it until deadline.

@tsuyokunaru
@mrc_mod

if you need help, pm me. I can check entries.

also for 60, can you use any manga that's been recommended to you or does it have to be specifically for 60? Example: If a user recommends me something for category 16, but i decide to use something else for 16, can I then use that title for 60, despite it being recommended as 16 and not 60?

Thanks for calling to my attention the turn in/sign up form thing. I copied the code from Shey and didn't notice she prefers to have the turn in form first. I prefer to list the sign up form first, so I'll just change the text order.

As for the waiting, I'm not really sure why you think you've waited too long? You turned in your form yesterday. Some people have waited for 2 months, 5 weeks is nothing in comparison. You may not like that there's such a long waiting period, but unlike the anime challenge, the manga challenge doesn't get lots of turn-ins, so I usually do a bunch at once. Besides, the challenge thread says you can go and grab your completed banner if you finished, if you're confident there's nothing wrong with your form, then you shouldn't worry too much about when it's going to be checked.

@AudioTsunami
Nah, I'm not saving those for the December deadline, I just got really busy and I'm already working on something for next year's challenge so I've been giving that a bit more priority. I got someone to help me yesterday, I think they'll get around to some forms in the next couple of days, but I'm sure it'll get busy soon too, so I'll definitely take you up on the offer and PM you as soon as possible with some instructions.

As for your question, it's a bit of a very specific case, but since you can prove that it was recommended to you by someone else in the discussion thread through a link, sure, it counts.

@Nissy
I couldn't really gauge out what kind of stuff you like, but what about Cousin ?

i wasn't trying to imply that i've waited too long (as you said: i posted my turn-in the day before commenting in this thread) i was just curious why it has been so long since the last successful challenger (and waiting 8 weeks doesn't make waiting 5 weeks shorter)

getting a completed banner doesn't feel right if the challenge technically isn't over yet so i'd rather wait a couple of weeks^^

If it is for teen girls, then it's shōjo.
But MAL says that it is a « josei » because… well, because.

I read Paradise Kiss, one of the manga serialized in Zipper, and in it there is the recurring joke about not showing sexual content because the audience is too young for that. While the « josei » works have the reputation of not being shy about showing sex.

Anyway, the issue with the item about « josei manga » is that MAL is totally inconsistent with the shōjo/josei tags.
The real typical « josei » magazines would be the You variations (main, Young or Office), Feel Young, Kiss and Chorus.
Those are the major ones.

There is also Cocohana and… hum… err… Zero-Sum Ward if you're into bishōnen-fest with video-games-like plots.

I FINALLY FINISHED. Gosh, one of the easiest items on paper gave me a headache, because there are not lot of Shoujo Ai manga in the top 1000. In the end, I had to pick something that's still publishing: Bloom Into You. I really liked it. I just hope that not completely scanlated manga is also valid.

As long as it's not checked yet, I think it's fine (at least in the anime challenge you can do that).

I'm finishing up my list, or at least trying to lol. Yeah as Tsuyo said, it's a pretty open category, but the stuff I typically recommend for it are things you have already down in your list.

Crows works for Deliquent/Yankee culture.
Hot Road as well.

Shigurui is a samurai manga(very gorey)
