| From the list listed, I'd pick Crusades but my favorite period group is the Napoleonic Era which wasn't listed. The Napoleonic Era is really interesting to me, arising from the French Revolution to Napoleon taking power, on to conquests and much more. We actually don't, no one gets drafted unless they sign for the military. The western world is largely at peace, you seem to have a poor understanding of what it means to be at war. During Vietnam War and WW2 men were forced into service against their will and only exonerated because of special situations, a whole generation was ruined. When you say we are at peace, my first thought was the Twin Towers ablaze. What was the last war you fought? Civil rights still have a long way to go, as discrimination is still legal in the West, Affirmative Action. I think you missed the point. You ideal world with 1960 conservative values and modern technology/medicine can't exist because minorities and people discriminated will always try to improve their life condition over time.
