Since beating out Love Live means that YOI is the highest 2016 anime BD/DVD sales. Now all I can think about is how much Kimi no Na Wa BD/DVD will sell in the first week. 100k? Hold your horses.. you are comparing vol 5 of Love Live Sunshine to vol 2 of YOI. LL hype has died quite a bit by this time as compared to the vol 2 of YOI. If you want a fair comparison.. compare the average BD sales of Love Live Sunshine to YOI or the average of the original Love Live to YOI and see their difference ;) |

(Not LL S2 naturally) It only has two volumes out (67 and 51) and Sunshines average is 47 and LLS1 is 52. It will drop as more volumes are released and depending on how good its hold is it has some sort of shot at beating Sunshine in the long run. It's hard to tell until v3 comes out and we see its ticket drop |

The hate train people have been jumping on lately has kept me thoroughly entertained. I've collected so much salt in the past few weeks alone that I should start packaging it for sale. |
Anime was the catalyst of my life's downward spiral. Joining MAL was the nail in my coffin. Every day I keep screaming into the void, but god just tells me to shut up. |

Overall only looking at BD/DVD sales isn't an option. You gotta look up the production committee, see who is in it and how high the companies are ranked and then look up in what way they would earn from this series. Considering all that it looks more likely than unlikely at this point. |

As for Yuri on Ice, I don't think anyone can make a good guess right now. It's exceeded all expectations so far and done as well as it possibly could have. We'll probably know more when volume 3 comes around. It will have 6 volumes to LL's 7 but it only has the two event ticket volumes where LL has the 5 volumes with event tickets. Now all I can think about is how much Kimi no Na Wa BD/DVD will sell in the first week. 100k? 100k is not a huge number for a wide release. I would also expect around 1-1,5 million in its first week. Frozen sold something like that. But considering that Your Name has larger fanbase AND is a japanese movie (Japanese cares about that), we might see even a 2 million sales in its first week. Frozen still made more money at the box office. And you have to remember mainstream movies don't sell like late night anime that dump almost all their discs in the first week. They have huge legs. Its a matter of time when Your Name will finally outgross frozen in Japanese box office. According to all the predictions, it will happen one day. Looks completely possible. And again, I can't remember the exact number, but Frozen sold somewhere between 1-1,5m in its first week even tho it's a mainstream movie. So like I said, I would expect Your Name to do even better because it is a Japanese movie with arguably bigger fanbase. |

Spirited Away sold 2 million in 12 months and it was recently beaten by Frozen on the same duration. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-12-24/frozen-sells-all-time-record-of-2.269-million-bd-dvd-sets-to-top-spirited-away-madoka-magica/.82603 Oh yeah, that's true. Tho I was talking about "all time" sales. Spirited away sold 4 million copies from the day of the blu-ray/DVD was out till now. |

Check the web page for details," but the web page still says they'll be announced at a later date. WTF! Obviously the volume 5-7 tickets were an afterthought but I can't believe they couldn't put something together in time for the release date. Just a total lack of planning, completely unprofessional, and very unlike the LoveLive franchise which has always been well thought out and executed. Actually, this makes me worry about the future of the series as it smacks of desperation and tells me the sales are not up to expectations. It still makes enough money to continue, I think but... they could also toss that money into something else. I'm not really worried about it continuing as other Bushiroad shows like Milky Holmes make almost no money and yet they got so many seasons and movies but it does make me wonder whether they are really behind the project 100%.jayvee2016 said: daggerswithroses said: jayvee2016 said: daggerswithroses said: jayvee2016 said: DarklordVor said: YOI is like the seasonal anime of Kimi no Na Wa.
