YOI is like the seasonal anime of Kimi no Na Wa. They're breaking records and win nominations almost every day. Since beating out Love Live means that YOI is the highest 2016 anime BD/DVD sales.

Now all I can think about is how much Kimi no Na Wa BD/DVD will sell in the first week. 100k?

Hold your horses.. you are comparing vol 5 of Love Live Sunshine to vol 2 of YOI. LL hype has died quite a bit by this time as compared to the vol 2 of YOI. If you want a fair comparison..

compare the average BD sales of Love Live Sunshine to YOI or the average of the original Love Live to YOI and see their difference ;)

Really glad YOI has been doing consistently well so far. I can't wait to see the numbers for certain volumes a little later on. The fan base is really something. PV for season 2 when?

People hating on YOI is hilariously bad. Wanna collect some salt with me? Because the saltiness is strong tonight.
I play video games. You should play a video game because you read my signature.

Obviously Yuri on Ices average is higher than Sunshine and LLS1 right now. (Not LL S2 naturally) It only has two volumes out (67 and 51) and Sunshines average is 47 and LLS1 is 52. It will drop as more volumes are released and depending on how good its hold is it has some sort of shot at beating Sunshine in the long run. It's hard to tell until v3 comes out and we see its ticket drop

The hate train people have been jumping on lately has kept me thoroughly entertained. I've collected so much salt in the past few weeks alone that I should start packaging it for sale.

Anime was the catalyst of my life's downward spiral.
Joining MAL was the nail in my coffin.

Every day I keep screaming into the void,
but god just tells me to shut up.

LLS estimated average BD sales once all volumes are out is around 30K+ and no idea about YOI. How many volumes will it have? If it outsold LLS then good for it.. quite an achievement to outsell µ's successor even in BD/DVD sales only

is this enough to do another season?

Picking out the week 1 sales of a random volume is saying nothing. Overall only looking at BD/DVD sales isn't an option. You gotta look up the production committee, see who is in it and how high the companies are ranked and then look up in what way they would earn from this series. Considering all that it looks more likely than unlikely at this point.

30k seems a little low for Sunshine, it'll probably be 40k+. As for Yuri on Ice, I don't think anyone can make a good guess right now. It's exceeded all expectations so far and done as well as it possibly could have. We'll probably know more when volume 3 comes around. It will have 6 volumes to LL's 7 but it only has the two event ticket volumes where LL has the 5 volumes with event tickets. (Not that it's helping right now as they don't have their shit sorted out.)

Okay, I actually really love that YoI vol 2 album art, Yurio is so hilariously awkward.

And of course YoI continues to slay the chart, no surprise. But damn, Bungou's sales are low.

100k is not a huge number for a wide release.

I would also expect around 1-1,5 million in its first week. Frozen sold something like that. But considering that Your Name has larger fanbase AND is a japanese movie (Japanese cares about that), we might see even a 2 million sales in its first week.

Frozen still made more money at the box office. And you have to remember mainstream movies don't sell like late night anime that dump almost all their discs in the first week. They have huge legs.

Its a matter of time when Your Name will finally outgross frozen in Japanese box office. According to all the predictions, it will happen one day. Looks completely possible.

And again, I can't remember the exact number, but Frozen sold somewhere between 1-1,5m in its first week even tho it's a mainstream movie. So like I said, I would expect Your Name to do even better because it is a Japanese movie with arguably bigger fanbase.

I hope more, spirited away sold more than 4 million copies, since Your name is the 2nd in JP box office (I think), I hope it sell more than 3 million copies or almost 4 million.

Spirited Away sold 2 million in 12 months and it was recently beaten by Frozen on the same duration.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-12-24/frozen-sells-all-time-record-of-2.269-million-bd-dvd-sets-to-top-spirited-away-madoka-magica/.82603

Oh yeah, that's true. Tho I was talking about "all time" sales. Spirited away sold 4 million copies from the day of the blu-ray/DVD was out till now.

Yeah I don't know what the fuck is going on with the event tickets for 5, 6, and 7. They announced them super late but 5 has released and they still haven't announced what they are for.

THIS! I bought a copy, not for the ticket, because I'm a fan. Even the ticket just says, "some event, some day with some performers. Check the web page for details," but the web page still says they'll be announced at a later date. WTF! Obviously the volume 5-7 tickets were an afterthought but I can't believe they couldn't put something together in time for the release date. Just a total lack of planning, completely unprofessional, and very unlike the LoveLive franchise which has always been well thought out and executed. Actually, this makes me worry about the future of the series as it smacks of desperation and tells me the sales are not up to expectations. It still makes enough money to continue, I think but... they could also toss that money into something else. I'm not really worried about it continuing as other Bushiroad shows like Milky Holmes make almost no money and yet they got so many seasons and movies but it does make me wonder whether they are really behind the project 100%.

Wow.. I don't know that was the case. What a shame for me as a Love Liver! LOL! I guess it only shows that I am not following aqours as faithfully as µ's back then.

Can you give more information about this event for vol 5 to 7?

There is no information to give on the events! That's the whole point. The ticket and web page have no information at all except to say check the web page later...
