lol @ the beginning. Little brother getting scolded for his behavior cannot watch with Japan (well, probably just for older aged people as later learned that younger people are fine with him), as always. The cafe's officially opened, and the customers likes their fanservice. It was Kirito brother who was in dark mood and stopped their kiss. The girl is being taught and cared by megane brother, and seems to have complicated problem. Little brother is sharp about twin brothers regarding to the girl.

Little brother tries his best to improve. Megane guy is curious about little brother, who was being taught all the basic stuff by main brother. More relation development for the four brothers, especially the twins made up. The girl (Aoi Yuuki), who decided to return to school, says all 4 of them are alike especially the main brother and little brother.

ED w. twin brothers.

So basically Ren need to learn about emotion AND to smile by attending that extra class?
And that "advice" more like scare Ren off from Shima about won't get any taller is pretty funny. But that Ren's "sudden attack" at Haru's forehead is just hilarious.

This episode is my favorite by far! The animation really was flawless this episode. I'm so happy the budget seemed to have been used to create such beautiful scenes.

Aww crap, that surprise attack from Ren, got me right in the heart. Ren is a really amazing character and I really appreciate the relationship dynamic between Ren and Haru. I wish we got more episodes though, than maybe more text and parts from the manga could be added.

Ah Haru, you're too nice, sometimes you have to take it easy once in while. I really love how Ren knows what he wants and just how much he values Haru and vice versa. That couch scene, "I love him!" Ahaha of course you do!

Aki, you cranky brother, though I understand his concerns. I really love how he and Shima managed to patch things up, their twin bond, is just too strong and nice. Wow the animators even managed to make the middle schooler look cute, I love her big eyes and bob cut ahh.

Can we take a moment to appreciate Ren's moe knee moment. It was the cutesy thing. I took so many screenshots this episode. Can't wait for episode 9, that preview :^))

I really enjoyed this episode! It was really interesting. You found out a lot about Ren, Shiima, Aki and Haru! I’m sad that there are only 2 episodes left since it just started to get interesting. I really hope for a second season! Would love to see a few characters and scenes that appear in later chapters of the manga!

Omg, I was laughing so hard when Ren tried to smile and laugh. He was like a creepy robot. :DD
And Haru's vision turning red from all the blood. The episode was just hilarious!

But there's only 2 episodes left, so I hope they will be great and having more shonen ai and Haru x Ren relationship going further.

1) Adopted.
2) Dunno', it varies between people and all.

Also they aren't really "dating", they are just "touchy-touchy". I mean, yeah, they kisses and all, but they aren't really dating.

Not related by blood. Also, Ren does not view Haru as a brother. In the manga, it's stated over and over but for the anime, it's touched upon sometimes. As for the open minded ness, well homosexuality is not as looked down upon as before.

I'm really happy how open minded the characters are in this series! Since Aki and Shima loved their brothers so much (expecially Haru), I doubt they'd hate him over something so trivial.

it still doesn't really make sense to me that shima and aki didn't actually have a real reaction to it

This is why the twins are great XD Also, they might not admit it, but they're all so very much like Haru in the aspect that they don't want to lose any of their siblings (now Ren is included), so it's like 'it's all fine so long he's happy and I don't lose him' kind of feeling? In short they're really attached to Haru, right?

The anime doesn't get too much into what the twins are thinking, but they actually understand that Haru is a lonely person, the feeling that built up from the time his dad remarried and suddenly he got two younger brothers and then Haru feeling he didn't belong in that 'new' family. The twins then realize that Haru is happier with Ren because he can 'connect' with him better (both being a lonely person underneath all that persona). I guess the main theme of Super Lovers is about loneliness...

Also, the twins help reign Haru in whenever things got too close to the danger zone. So it's not like they didn't have any real reaction to whatever's happening between Haru and Ren.

Yes! It saddens me because they all have dark pasts and the only people they're able to talk to and relate to are their brothers. I for one, love how the twins will put Haru's happiness before their own. Like for example, they wanted Haru's wish to come true (having a family, living with all his brothers), helping Haru with the cafe (even though he really could have hired people and he had Iku), and best of all, realizing just how much Ren means to Haru and so they totally don't mind their relationship. Also, as you said, they will be there for when Ren and Haru have problems and act as the medians of some sort during their arguments.

Haru has had a rough childhood (He even admits he hates remembering his times spent with Haruko as a child) and he just seems so lost and confused. I'm glad Ren was able to break his facade and have him know that he's by his side and will always be there for him. I feel Haru really needed that reality check that he IS special and all his brothers care for him.

The twins are much better in the manga but I'm glad we got this episode dedicated to the duo because they need more screen time. Especially when they're Ren's older brothers too. Gahh, Aki is my favorite from the twins, with Shima close behind!

I can't believe there are only 2 episodes left. It hasn't even reached the best parts of the manga yet ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Also, Haru finally realized that he loves Ren. That's why it was really hilarious when one of the twins said "You just realized that now?"
Hopefully they'll give us Season 2

This might be a bit OOT but in the new chapter, Ren and Shima have the sibling talk and it's just so---- heartwarming XD I also only realized that Aki is the older of the two after that chapter O.O

Oh my, we're talking best parts of the manga? Gotta pick out all those...Bed moments (∩ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)⊃━☆゚. * ・ 。゚ If we get a season 2, I will FREAK.

I really really really really think we will. Only because I can't see what sort of anime only ending they'll be able to conjure up in 2 weeks.

Oh yesss, his exclamation of "I love him!" EVERYONE KNEW THIS EXCEPT YOU HARU. Even Shima's student ahaha. Cute, cute, very cute!

My favorite episode so far hands down. We got an insight into the twin's relationship and a development in Haru and Ren's.

Does anyone also happen to know the piano piece that was played during the massage scene between Haru and Ren? That song was absolutely beautiful.

Nice ep, I can't really describe this one as it was so heavily focused on the bros relationship (I don't have any brother).

But Ren's moments with the PE teacher and Haru were amazing as always. That surprise attack though!

The twin brothers got more stuff this week and it was about time for them too to help the story and drama move forward.

I'm glad we're past all the Ren and Haru weekly guilt drama and focusing on their sweet relationship and the life of the four brothers together trying to adjust to their new life.

Only if they had more eps, it would've given us more of a closure.

They're not related by blood, and I think it's obvious about the same sex relationship. Its genre is shounen ai, after all.

I totally loved this episode as well as the others. ^_^

By the way, there are some scenes where you just can't forget from the anime lately. Especially, when Juuzen Kurosaki just has his words. His quote for how he expresses Ren's "forced smile" is quite amazing. Also, I love the development of the Kaidou twins (Aki and Shima) in this episode. Other than that, the 'love relationship' (I don't know how I should call it XD) is always cute and lovely to be seen. :)

So, I'm hoping just for more episodes, in my mind right now.

For those who do enjoy this anime, I wouldn't get my hopes up about a season 2 if I were you. The numbers aren't good in Japan in terms of viewers. In addition, I glanced at a couple of popular Japanese anime review sites this week and reviews over there are not that great either (overall, the series seems to get 2 or 3/5 from aggregated votes).

That would be unfortunate but also not surprising. It's fun to watch, though, so even if they won't make 2'nd season we still have manga to read.

-dies- HaruxRen moments are freaking life, everytime Haru kisses Ren I get a mini attack <3 The anime continues to excite me and I do expect it to get a second season because if I'm not mistaken the manga seems to be selling pretty well plus Early stalker amazon indicates that the disc sales seem to sell well to.

Here's proof

Anyways I do wanna point out that the whole gap difference between Haru and Ren isn't a big deal. If your gonna be into these stuff you must prepare yourself to accept anything especially if your over 18. So people really need to stop whining because I barely remember anyone complaining about the age difference between Mitsuki and Takuto from Full Moon wo Sagashite. Exactly! Not to mention, the age gap in Fruits Basket between Tohru's parents, her dad was her mom's teacher while she was in middle school. I personally don't care about age gaps cause I just think if the love is there then I don't see a problem. Only when that
shit becomes manipulative or abusive then I'm like HEYYYY NOOOoononnon but my opinions always vary in fiction egh.

Anyway, 15 and 23 isn't so bad (Since Ren and Haru's relationship develops) and now that Ren is 16 going on 17, it shouldn't be as big of a problem. Also, I think Abe making Ren so intelligent was a smart move. Ren may be lacking in the emotions department (his actions speak larger than words) but he sure as heck knows when someone is taking advantage of him. He's not stupid, sure he's young but as he said before, "compulsory education ends with middle school, I can get a job now" so he's practically saying he can handle himself and as such, should be treated as more than a "child". Minor is understandable when it comes to drinking/smoking etc but I think he's old enough to choose what he wants his romantic life to be like.

Personally, I think Haru and Ren's relationship isn't problematic and that's only because of Japan's rule of "True and sincere love" then any age gap relationships (as long as the youngest is over 13 or whatever AOC age is set at depending on the prefecture) are okay with their society., here's an excerpt "... adding exemptions for sex in the context of a sincere romantic relationship (typically determined by parental approval)" Could the parental approval be from Haruko maybe? She trusts Haru and knows Ren won't stand for any bullshit, even if he DOES love someone, he isn't the type to be stepped on.

Seriously, I wish people stop writing Haru off as trash/manipulative/disgusting/abusive when he really TRULY does love Ren. He's also doing all he can for his brothers to boot. If people just quit using American/Western views than I'm pretty sure no one would care. Laws and regulations are different in Japan so people should quit trying to apply their own laws to another country.

SORRY FOR HUGE RANT. I just love Haru and Ren! Their relationship has me squealing <333 Also yes, the blu-ray sales are doing pretty good! Not to mention, the Super Lovers event in October in Japan! The manga, volume 9 has recently made it in the top 20 of the month I think, in terms of sales. Every time Haru and Ren have even a small moment of intimacy I just..I die a little on the inside cause hhghghgh, SO CUTE. As for season 2, I'm almost certain it will happen! Especially since episode 10 will be ending on a VERY important part, unless they go for an anime only ending which could very well happen but I sure hope it doesn't. Season 2!<33

I haven't seen Fruits Basket yet but I appreciate that you brought up another good example about lovers and the age difference.

I'm fed up with the people who keep whining about Haru and Ren's relationship being disturbing because of the age difference. I keep asking myself how the hell is a relationship between two guys in love disturbing? Does the age really matter when two guys complement each other so well, can't the audience notice how happy ren makes Haru. I'm not sure if people are getting grossed out because a grown up men is trying to get with his younger adoptive brother but it seems to me that could be the case :/ Back when Full Moon was airing everyone seem to be fine with Mitsuki and Takutos relationship, nobody ever gave a crap about the 12 age gap but now that two gay men want to be together everyone seems to bitch about it.

Thats what I'm saying, the age gap isn't that bad like around 8 years apart if I'm not mistaken? But even if Ren turns 17 and the anime receives a sequel I'm pretty sure people will still not be satisfied with the relationship. Don't you wonder if most of the audience who watch the anime are over 18? If it turned out that's the case then I would understand why they would find the couple a bit inappropriate but if the audience are adults then why are they finding the love between two men disturbing? Why do the western audience find this inappropriate when Japan's law states that if the person your in love with is over 13 then your relationship is permitted. If you don't agree with this then why watch Super Lovers in the first place.

Abe did an awesome job on Ren's character, for a kid his age he's very independent and doesn't need to rely on anyone <3 Ahh idk about you but I believe ren motivates Haru to become a better person everyday. If ren wasn't in his life Haru would've ended up being a womanizer and fathering 12 kids :P Ah I'm sure Haruko would approve of there relationship she seems a bit scary at times but pretty open minded about anything so I wouldn't worry about that ...

Haru's my favorite character in the anime so everytime I see someone calling him names I have a fit. How can anyone dare call him trash or creepy perverted useless men when his entire life he's worked his ass off to provide his younger siblings everything. It might've not been a lot but Haru tried his best to give the twins the love and care they needed especially after there parents passed away and now he did the same thing with ren. Who taught him to open up more with people or willingly take baths, wear shoes, teach him how to eat properly and care for his love ones, Yes my beautiful Haruuuu was responsible. He deserves an award for the best brother/lover in the world <333 Hmmm in my opinion someone who can't deal with an older guy dating someone younger then him should stop watching the anime we don't need haters who will just ruin our mood everytime we wanna make a comment on a any thread regarding SL.

Hahahaha no need to apologize I should be the one apologizing to you I wrote a bible back to you :D I couldn't help myself I had to express my feelings about the hate SL is receiving with the western audience. Compared to Latin America and Japan which gladly accepted the anime which makes me super happy Yayyy. Omg I didn't know the manga reached the 20th spot hooray I couldn't expect less from it. I'm just hoping the popularity it's having in Japan is enough for people to purchase the disc sales so the anime can have a second season. Ahhh it's going to end on an important part? I'm so hype about this !!!! I know the feeling, I had to repeat the scene where Haru gives Ren a hickey about 15 times I know I sound like a perv but I couldn't help myself those two make my heart skip a beat <333333 I need more of them in my life Yahello-chan.

I remember her being 12 and him 24 and no one ever whined about it as much as people are doing now with Super Lovers :/

Apparently everything is wrong when the genre is shounen ai you know

About a third of the reviews I've read on Japanese forums mention the age difference, and not in a positive way.

So.... Only 2 more episodes left. And Haru finally realized he loves Ren. The development for the twins was nice this episode. Also, I'm so glad the animation looked better than last week, I guess they were just saving up their budget?

True. You wouldn't believe how many times I've been repeating this on the first episode discussion.

I have no idea why the genre Shounen ai is so controversial among all the anime fans. Everyone finds it normal when a 24 year man dates a 12 year teen girl but when it's between the same gender everyone wants to look down on it .

@gayfarang Um idk where your reading all these lies because what I know Super Lovers is doing an excellent job among the fujoshi's in Japan and like my fellow friend Yahello-chan said there's a special event taking place in October for the series so sorry to burst your bubble but how things look the anime might get a second season if it continues with its success.

65% rating on Chill Chill, with plenty of reviewers having concerns with the age gap: http://www.chil-chil.net/goodsDetail/goods_id/29214/

3.5/5 rating on Anikore, with the scores dipping slowly as the season progresses: https://www.anikore.jp/anime/9603/

49% rating on Animesachi (granted, with few reviewers): http://www.animesachi.com/visitor/sakuhin_4576.html

I'm not really sure if I should believe this or not because a few weeks ago I got a sneak peak on the early sales of the anime discs and they seem to be selling well .

Well, bad reviews by general anime audience (not a fan of the manga, that is) don't matter. Those reviews are from those who don't read the manga so they don't know what to expect. I really can't imagine people who have read the manga give reviews expressing concerns about the age difference (duh). The only thing that matters more is DVD/BluRay sales. I'm not sure how reliable is the early sales data that @-Janet referred, but one thing for sure, Super Lovers has quite a big fanbase and it's safe to say that's where most of the money will be coming from (and not from some random reviews from the internet).

Even though I said all that, I too, am feeling skeptical this series will get a second season. Call it a gut feeling. BUT! I'll be really happy if I'm to be proven wrong in the near future XD

I don't know where else to ask this (and I don't wanna create a new topic) but until this point has the anime been a faithful adaptation of the manga? Say, if I wanted to start reading the manga, would I need to read it from the beginning or could I start from this point onwards?

Well, it's Kadokawa, it's Studio Deen and it's BL. So I think a second season isn't impossible at this point.

In addition, I think Nakamura Shinguku is on good terms with the author of Super Lovers. Maybe she'll pull some strings. Junjou Romantica/Super Lovers crossover, anyone?

Yes, it is a faithful adaption. You should have no problems picking up where the anime will end.

I highly recommend the manga. I even like the vibe and the art of the manga more than the anime.
