Nyanpaaaaaaasu! ;) I just finished Haibane Renmei...wow...this sure was a much quicker watch then Love Stage...i wonder why...well, might´ve been just me being bored at work and having all the time in the world to marathon through the last 6 episodes in no time hehe Anyway, here are my thoughts: While Haibane Renmei definitely has a lot of potential to blow my mind since i´m a mystery fan and also appreciate more unique stuff that you don´t find easily in another show, i can´t even tell you exactly how i should feel about this anime. I feel happy and sad, glad i watched this and also frustrated. This Anime builds up a fantastic setting with many mysterious rules and events, has one of the most fascinating starts i ever saw and it was drawn into this world totally after episodes 1 and 2. After that, it kind of fails a little bit to keep up the tension and it doesn´t even try, but rather turns into some kind of Slice of Life show, just that we get to see slices of a Haibane´s life rather then a normal human´s. At this point i should tell you what a Haibane is, but...like many other things in this show, it´s left for your own interpretation as it never gets explained in detail. The same goes for other mysterious beings in this world. Instead of slowly but surely revealing stuff, Haibane Renmei just adds more little and big mysteries as the series goes on without ever fully explaining anything that´s going on. In the end, it was a bit frustrating to watch. They just overdid it with leaving things to think about for yourself. What it leaves behind is a watcher that is more curious then during the middle part of the show. The creators really should´ve let us know at least a bit more about what is going on in this world. There are many theories and speculations among fans and they were easy to find and are interesting to study, but in the end they are just speculations. At the same time, the adding of more mysteries during the anime was also it´s biggest strength. Those episodes were just absolutely amazing to watch, so keeping the story a bit more simple would´ve also reduced the quality of the show as the mentioned Slice of Life-ish part is no way near as good as the rest of it. In the end i strill rate this a 7 because even though i do feel unfulfilled at the ending, i still enjoyed the ride towards it a lot and saw some of the best single episodes in a long time. Also the "fear" that they might never go to resolve stuff creeped into me long before the ending, so i wasn´t unprepared which makes this WTF!? experience much more bareable. Apart from the too many unexplained things, i´d say the supporting characters are another weakness in this show as they aren´t as interesting as Reki and Rakka at all and i didn´t really care for them at any point. On the other hand, the music Haibane Renmei has to it is really good and fitting and the animation looks nice too for 2002/03 standards. If you guys enjoy this or not mainly depends on how well you can handle things that are left unresolved. The mystery genre is expected to reveal the true meaning of stuff at the end and is often judged on the surprise factor it delivers by doing so. This show takes another path entirely and i wish it would´ve at least found a nice balance between what they give away and what they don´t. They walked the other path all the way instead. I give them credit for doing this, but yeah...i can´t help but feel like i watched all these great episodes for nothing but they joy they gave me while i was watching them. If you give no information at all, then nothing will stay in the mind of the watchers. That´s why i will probably forget about this anime soon even though it really was something special... |

@PhKay Wow, you really make it looks like thinking for youself is a bad thing. And if you think that Haibane is about the mystery you didnt understood it at all. It is a character driven story and its made it clear in the first episode. Try to think more, despite how hard it may sound, you will find a beautiful anime about sin and redemption in Haibane. :) |

The city represents Earth, Beyond the wall is heaven. The wall is what seperates the two. If you are sin-bound, you may not take flight but if you are free of it, you may go beyond the walls, the toga (masked men) represent God, who may go in and out of the city, The master of both realms. They can't talk just as God cannot talk back to us.humans. I don't think haibane are spirits, I think they represent us humans. For these kinds of stories you have to interpret unexplained stuff to make the story meaningful to you. that's the beauty of these kinds of stories~ ^^ @Fellener @PhKay that Just what I think the story meant, don't know about you guys. |

@KouKunxX The city is a place to attain rendeption. There is no religious aspect to the series, its pure metaphysical so you cant put "heaven" or "hell" values to it. The Toga are Haibanes that failed to get their day of flight, it is implied when Rakka talk about Reki with the main Toga, so they arent god. They help the haibanes cause they dont want they to fail and they did. The wall is a symbol of protection and safety. What exist beyond them doesnt matter. |

Finished mine, out of the 319 titles on my list only 8 have a score of "2", in other words Bokura Wa was one of the worst shows I have seen. No character progression, no real plot, awful directing and the writing was just awful. At first I was gonna say that the show looked nice but since it constantly transitions into those dumb typical anime backgrounds (and I do mean constantly, there are more shots with those backgrounds in most scenes than with regular backgrounds) there is no point in complimenting the visuals. I giggled at a couple of jokes in the first episode but then they just got repeated over and over again until the very last moment of the last episode. The final arc almost made me forgive the show but then the pacing, writing and characters just made everything awful again. I really have nothing good to say about the show itself, only that it almost explored a theme that I was really interested in but then threw that out of the window. At least I got to use Fate as a punching bag for all of my complaints as I watched the show which was nice. :3 |

@Unthinkable92 @Seidou_Takizawa I really disliked Sakurasou and I also disliked Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou but it seems to be a recurring theme that whoever likes Sakurasou ends up enjoying Bokura Wa just as much since it's the same type of work. So I'd totally recommend Bokura War to any fan of Sakurasou. |

I like how every ep connects with the next one and the soundtrack is amazing *-* "A secret of the Moon" been stuck on my head all week XD so far my fav ep was 10, Yuri backstory was so sad ;-; Wasnt expecting the first scene of the anime to be related to any of the characters. |

@ruben6f well you might like it but i absolutely hated it. this is not because my taste is far superior or some stupid reason like that. the real reason why i f****** hate series like these is because i already have read the story of it most of the time and saying this is the same story as the real one is just an insult to the real story. |

@Tweststrate This doesn't sound like an completely valid point, as soon as the show decided to run on the themes of sci-fi and fantasy I don't think anyone on board of the project was working under the impression that they were doing the "same" story. Loose adaptations/inspirations are perfectly fine in my book as long as the project in itself is well done, have you considered you're negleting a lot of the good points that the show has simply because you didn't like its approach to the story? |

@KouKunxX Awful directing, bland characters that never evolve in any shape or form, every single scenario and line of dialogue was predictable, some characters are outright bad human beings but the show plays all of this off as a joke, characters never learn anything from what happens, the great visuals are ruined by the constant background swaps, no real plot just a bunch of episodes that ammount to nothing (some episodes made me feel like I wasted my time and that's really hard to pull off since I spend most of my days locked in my room doing literally nothing). I could go on but I don't see the point. I can still see why some people would enjoy the show, I can still find a positive trait or two about the show but in the end I couldn't find anything in the show that I could appreciate to its fullest extent, and I made it a habit to only care about specific traits of a show when watching them to get more enjoyment out of them. |

I finished Cybersix and I will say that it was quite enjoyable. I will not go in depth because I am not the best at that. Hahaha The story to me was about learning to keep yourself in check even when the world around you dares you to show your true self. Cybersix is in constant hiding of her true identity by being Adrian Seidelman, a local teacher. The comedy where presented was nice and the opening song was amazing. Data 7 = possibly best pet ever, to me at least. Also, keeping everything under wraps while the villain, Jose, keeps using plots, pokemon-style, that keep failing no matter how hard he tries. It makes me almost pity him. But he only wants to prove to his father that he can be capable on his own so I also respect him a tiny, tiny bit. All in all, for a show that aired quite a bit ago, I give it a 7/10. |

Anyways if you are interested in checking out the manga I recommend it, I own the first volume of Planetes (will get the second sooner or later, it came out today in Europe actually) and I love it, do keep in mind that it is completely different from the anime so don't go in expecting the same. |
