I was just curious if anyone on here liked the anime/manga genre Guro, like do you find it attractive or appealing? and why?

In a word, no.

I'd rather be watching the blue sea than look at slashed up body parts supposedly human, or perhaps that person cut him up then proceeds to eat him and all kinds of rubbish.

But I'm not the audience you're looking for I guess o.o

Not a fan of the whole blood and gore type. But guro also includes things like asphyxiation, and that is pretty amusing.

No. I have read some guro manga and it did not really appeal to me.

That's not to say that I didn't enjoy what I read. It was a good read, but erotic dismembering is not my thing.

Blood and Gore is fine, if there is context.

Doesn't turn me on though.

Blood and guts is a-okay with me. The more 'absurd' types of guro... not so much.

All depends on the context of the show. I don't mind it being in a show, like say Elfien Leid, or maybe Ken Shiro blowing up heads. People losing arms or getting their face blown off is pretty fuck epic. In devil man the main heroin has her head cut off after being raped and then it's stuck on a spike for the hero to see, which sends him into a madness. It just adds to the story.

I think when it starts to become more sadistic like graphic depictions of people inflicting slow torture I kind of lose interest. Seen a few Things were people are torture or cut using knives in a sadistic way and it does not appeal to me.

But yeah, most of the anime I used to watch growing up would have lots of people getting squished like bugs and other cool stuff. Can be pretty funny and cool.

There are just some people on Tumblr that have no reluctance on holding back the gore they post. Ero-Guro is just some messed up shit man.

Good example:

Isn't your forum avatar guro though? I mean really.Even if you deny it, think about it, that blood is not unappealing. It adds some interesting elements to the pic, gives it a story (an imagined one), gives you some insight into that Homestuck troll's personality. You might not like guro but there are a lot of people who find the blood and gore in pics to be really fascinating, like your forum avatar.

I'm the exact opposite. I enjoy ero-guro from time to time. Sometimes dismembered bodies can be hot. However in anime, I actually don't really like violence. I tend to lean towards romance and slice of life type shows. It's kind of weird when I think about it. When it's not in a sexual context, it's just kind of boring.

You can't just discredit an aspect of the show though. "Death Note without the twists would have been boring". Elfen Lied had gore, and that was part of the anime. Sorry to go off topic, I just hate it when people say things like this.

No, while I don't mind violence, while murder is enjoyable in anime it has this one limit, killing for sexual lust is sick and demented.

No, his avatar isn't *really* guro and neither is 99% of the stuff under the "guro" tag. I used to run a guro blog on tumblr and everyone was horrified at my blog but not the tag.

Isn't Ero-Guro a genre itself and when saying "Guro" you're actually talking about Ero-Guro?

Personally, ero-guro (and guro in general) wouldn't be so shocking/offensive if it wasn't as transparently sexist in it's current (~50+ years) form

Though, most of it is written/drawn by male mangaka, but that just seems to make it even worse

No. I dislike guro most of the time. Unless it is classy or done in a fashionably brutal way, I avoid it. Ero-guro? No. I avoid ero-guro doujin like the plague.

Now, Another was pretty classy even though the narration needed to pick a speed and be happy with it. Elfem Lied on the other hand, felt pretty tasteless. It was very brutal but it didn't do much else of trying to force sympathy and be as brutal as possible while adding awkward cousin second love interest to the mix.

Hmmm I think maybe we'll need to have a proper definition of guro in here that everyone can be familiar with, because a lot of these people are just talking about blood and stuff like that. In my experience, many people consider nosebleeds and licking up blood to be guro, and also things like bloodless amputation, freakshow mutants, and bloodless vore to be guro.....I still think my original point stands though, about the blood adding interest to the avatar so it wouldn't be THAT much of a stretch to see why people would enjoy it in more extreme scenarios.

Also to the person saying guro is sexist and drawn primarily by males, you're not wrong (but for some people, like me, we realize that it's just fiction honestly it's not a bid deal and you're not in any danger) but I don't think everyone is just talking about published guro manga. When the OP said do you like guro I thought that meant, any kind of guro in any medium. Search guro on pixiv or something, I doubt all of the artist's are guys, and the ones that are want to put down women. I know a lot of female artists who draw primarily guro...but whatever I think the OP means the content not the creator.

Nosebleeds aren't Guro, and is a funny thing in ecchi and gag anime with little to no violence at all.

from what I know gore basically is blood(y) (or am I wrong?)
and guro is more.. "extreme" than gore, because it is erotic grotesque..
now, for me it is more 'extreme'. for others maybe not..

anyway, at first I didn't like gore but the more I read I really like survival manga and those usually (have to) involve gore. I also like dark humor.

I don't really like guro though.. I feel really sick while/after reading it so I usually avoid it:|

I like lots of blood and gore--so I read horror manga. I've never read any guru though, and I never plan to. Gore is great, but I don't get turned on by it.
I know the definition of guro to be gore and hentai, but when I've never heard of ero-guro, yetthat's also what i think ero-guro would be... So I'm not sure what any of you consider the difference to be, but what ever it is I still wouldn't touch either one.

No, never.
I only like gore when it's a side-effect of an action anime. I mean I don't have a problem with gore things in general. But when it's only about body parts flying around for the sake of amusement with no real/sensible plot, I hate it.
