According to Amazon JP (http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00EODU3H4), the BD for Mononoke Hime has Japanese/English audio and Japanese/English subtitles.

That's way more than what most directors contribute. Yamakawa storyboarded seven episodes from the first 26, and (so far) four from Refrain. It's a huge amount of personal effort since he has to organize and supervise production on the other episodes as well. Generally, directors only contribute 1-3 episodes over a two-cour set.

The same can be said for the scenarist, who turned in 33/37 scripts so far.

We might criticize the final outcome, but there was no lack of dedication on LB. Warner's staffing strategy seems pretty straight forward. The budget is modest, the schedule is tight, and they can't bring in anyone famous. However, they have hard workers, particularly among the main staff.

Yeah, I hate uploaders but I do wonder how many buyers of expensive Japanese CD singles cancel their orders due to a leak. The one case I could think of is SnK's OP since the full version is actually quite different than the anime version that they didn't even include on the disc but the tail on that disc is so long with over 200K sales that obviously most people have bought it after having opportunity to hear the full version.

Even more than anime Blurays I think people buy physical CDs because they want the physical merchandise, the cover, the lyrics, the bonus cards, the silly making-of videos on the LE DVD.

But Japanese industry has a real internal problem with the leaks. They are so early that I don't even think its a teenager working at Tower Records opening the discs on pre-release day and ripping them. It is fairly obvious that someone involved in manufacturing and distribution is leaking them weeks early and putting them on Youtube and Nico Nico. I hate uploaders with a passion but some days I wonder if people who say it doesn't hurt sales are right. Hard for me to say.

People who were going to buy on iTunes might not buy it if MP3s are leaked but again I don't really know. iTunes feels like more of a ripoff to me, I pay money and all I get is a digital 'copy' of the music and a tiny little image file of the cover. Thanks... but no thanks. Same with iTunes anime or other TV episodes, even movies.

It's too much of a gradual climb to have been triggered by the most recent episode - the rank has been on a constant upward trend since last Friday, whereas the episode boosts come in the early hours of Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

Still not 100% sure why people think this made a huge difference in sales. Has Stereo Dive Foundation always sold significantly more than this before? If not, is there any other reason to believe it's selling well below capacity?

I mean 5k isn't that unusual for an anime OP/ED, many sell more but at least as many sell less too.

To some degree, yes, piracy does affect sales whether the personality involved in the product is popular or not.

Just how bad sekatsuyo and galilei will do is pretty disappointing but I have some hope for sekatsuyo since it ranked on the daily chart yesterday. Is anyone ready for shingeki volume 6 underestimate? I think it might go from 29k to 34k first week for blurays. Not sure about DVDs.

Well on Amazon yearly bestseller list V6 already passed V5 and currently is one position above Love Live V1 (what sold ~33K BD, but LL! have little more storefront effect than SnK). I expect about 13-15K from DVD and 30-35K from BD for now. I think V6 BD position in Amazon 2013 bestseller list (http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/bestsellers/2013/dvd/ref=zg_bs_tab_t_bsar#3) by the end of sales week will allow to more precise predict sales. Anyway I expect for V6 to have 3rd biggest sales from all volumes, that Levi VN is sure hot stuff for SnK fandom.

Well it too early to say since it's not even released and it's my personal opinion, but V3 sold 51K with less hyped VN and V1 80+K sales shows that there is a lot of potential buyers (not to mention 2+M people who bought manga). So yes 50+K total is more than possible, since this bonus boost is similar to what shows like Love Live and Utapri gets from event tickets. And v7-9 doesn't seem to pass it.

I'm hoping that Vol 7-9 sells at least above 45k, since they contain the second half of the series, which I believe is the better half.

Any chance that SnK Vol 5 will at least reach 45k? We can be pretty sure that it reached 40k.

Also SnK vol 4 reaching 50k? At least when a new volume goes on sale? Might get a surprise boost. Though it might be too much of a wishful thought :P.

Unexpected for Galilei ranking that high despite the weak week. Could be also the aniplex shop underestimate. I still have to rely on the weekly numbers but still unexpected.

Well maybe i didn't express myself clearly, but i meant 52+K for entire run. I don't expect 50+ first week sales. More like ~45K but with it usual sales tail it should pass 50+ in 2-3 weeks IMHO.

Well i think better is to expect 40K for v7-9, with v9 maybe scraping 45K.
Also i think v5 will sell about 42-43K in the end. Well for v4 total all depends how much will add in year end reports, but it will be really close to 50K and if it misses it then by less than 1K more likely.

5. Is it actually good?

The previous movie sold 107,953 first week and 140,213 so we'll have to see how this one measures up.

Wow, the numbers for the first movie were very impressive, especially considering it was basically a recap of an arc in Gintama.

Wow, I had no idea it sold that much. As much as I like it, I've always thought of Gintama as one of those long-running shows that you rarely see in sales charts, though looking back now at the numbers for its past seasons definitely show that to be a flawed mindset.
