Uh, I was actually asking for a recommendation for myself...

I'm glad I could help but I really don't think I did anything : )

  • Magi- hilarious, good action, hinted romance, falls into your request well
  • Needless- Hilarious, ridiculous and over-the-top action, but is also ecchi (idk if that's your kind of thing or not)
  • Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?- hilarious, good battles, ecchi, harem
  • Hataraku Maou-sama- Hilarious, awesome battles, hinted romance with some characters (this literally just finished today)
  • Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (2012)- second part is absolutely hilarious, battles are intense, super-hype, over-the-top, and nearly impossible to predict, some romance there

Fun fact: the manga for Fairy Tail is an ecchi xD

You have seen SKET Dance but not Gintama, if i'm right (ahahaha rarely so) the link between the two is just that they are set out in a similar way (a trio working to help people with their problems. So I would recommend Gintama, but it is a little long so maybe just watch the movie first to see if you find it interesting (its a remastered version of episodes 58 - 61 (again, if i remember right)), it usually focuses more on the comedy than the fighting but theres a bit of both, not really much romance though i'm afraid.

I'm just going to fire out some titles here that are long but you might enjoy -
  • D.Gray-man - I haven't seen it, but a lot of people I know really enjoy it, it has some similarities with Blue Exorcist but from what I can tell is a little less demonic and a little more robots or cyborgs or mechas or power rangers.
  • Katekyo Hitman Reborn - Mafia members with super powers, enough said.
  • Hajime no Ippo - Even I don't really like boxing all that much but this show was fantastic, really gets you pumped and is a good mix of comedy and seriousness.

    Some shorter ones -
  • Bakemonogatari - A show with some strong characters even if not physically, I mean the only fight the main character wins is when he shamelessly flexes his muscles and beats the crap out of a little unsuspecting girl. But that aside, the show is comic and heartwarming at times and follows this main protogonist as he helps people with their supernatural anomalies.
  • Samurai Champloo - One of the best action duo pairs i've seen in a while, a complete contrast of fighting styles, the rugged almost breakdancing street fighter with a sword, and the traditional rounen. Some very well done fight scenes, one of the shows like sword of the stranger that remind you you don't need super powers to make badass fight scenes (you haven't seen it? watch that too!).
  • Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - Not a personal favourite of mine. For me if you split the show into 4 quarters the 2nd and 4th quarter are pretty damn good, but the other two are kind of meh. The show focuses on the power of dreams and fighting spirit! (ooh yeah like real manly shounens do).

You should also consider watching these on your plan to watch -
  • Baccano - A well rounded set of likeable characters and a good story (if not laid out in a weird way, it jumps around a 3 year time period but at least lets you know about that, just pay attention to when it comes up with a time period I had no idea what was going on at first haha - it starts at the end, and then goes back its pretty cool!)
  • Darker than Black - I mean come on, the main character is basically chinese electric batman.

Hopefully thats a nice list of stuff that you might want to watch, as far as dubs vs subs go (for english at least) I can say that the Baccano one is great, probably better than the japanese, but Darker than Black, Hajime no Ippo, Samurai Champloo and Gurren Lagann all have acceptable dubs too. D-Gray man is also only partly dubbed (I am just an enigma of uncertainty aren't I?).

    Hello!

I'm new to the MAL forums and I already have too much anime and manga to watch and read as it is, but I would still like some recommendations. I'll give almost anything a try.

My favorites are Sankarea, Fullmetal Alchemist, InuYasha, Free! (or at least when it airs it will be), Another, Elfen Lied, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Sailor Moon, Soul Eater, Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler, Hetalia: Axis Powers, and Pokemon.

If it helps, I am also planning to read/watch Danganronpa, Attack on Titan, Neon Genesis Evangelion, K-ON, Madoka Magica, and Death Note.

Thanks for the recommendations, and I'll try to give some as well. :)

    Hello everyone!

I'm looking for an anime where the protagonists love each other but just don't know themselves yet. For example 'Toradora!', 'zero no tsukaima', 'shakugan no shana' etc...
I would prefer that they're still going to school and where the girl is kind of bossy, but it isn't really necessary.

    Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the suggestion. I've heard of these shows before but I'll take a new look at them. That being said, I was hoping to find something a little bit newer.

I guess my large plan to watch list makes this difficult to navigate but if I see something potentially interesting I like to add it there. Anyway, I appreciate the help.

I would have but what you were asking for was incredibly niche and I tend to avoid harems like the plague so I am probably not much help here haha. There is only one I can personally recommend and that is to finish Oreshura which you have already watched 12 episodes of.

Fora few other ones that I haven't seen but you might still enjoy, Ichigo 100% and Freezing seem pretty popular and then there's finally the harem of harems, Love Hina. As I said though, I haven't seen them so I don't know what you can expect in terms of quality, Love Hina and Ichigo 100% are comedy ecchi's whereas i believe Freezing is more serious(if even possible with ecchi).

Sorry for a late response, usually everyone is pretty on the ball when it comes to rec but I guess everyone looked at your massive wall of request text and thought woah! and moved on haha.

Bokurano, depressing as hell, the concept is a bit meh, when you first hear it at least, but the characters and backstories are very well written and executed.

Other anime that come to my head but I'm not really sure if they're absolutely "dark" because it's honestly been a while:
    • Evangelion (original) or you can try the reboot movies but I don't think they're quite as dark. Btw, if you decide to watch the original, make sure you watch The End of Eva movie for the true ending (because the original ending was complete BS)
    • Elfen Lied- what I can remember from this show is blood, gore, and body parts and that it was also kinda depressing but not much of anything else.

So I'm kind of a weird person, "M" or whatever, but anyways I like anime that have strong female leads :p

You know, like how Senjougahara is :3

I generally enjoy any genre of anime, well, as long as it isn't something from the 20th century, my spoiled eyes can't seem to handle the animation quality of the shows from back then xp

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend an anime or two that has female characters like Suzutsuki Kanade from Mayo Chiki! in it. Well, I'm not specifically looking for sadist-ish characters like her, but more like someone who's composed and usually in control of the situation(s).

I've been having trouble looking for an anime I like recently (even though I have a measly watched anime count) in general. Maybe my tastes are bad, or whatever lol. If someone can help it would be nice :) Thanks.

Edit: Oh, I was looking at newmn84's signature, and I wanted to put in that a character like the elder sister of the female lead in Chuunibyou is an example of the type of character that I'm looking for in anime :)

I'm not sure I fully understood your request as I have only seen Bakemonogatari of the ones mentioned, so I took it as an example and paid attention to your description of what you liked. I don't think you have bad tastes at all. Relax
    Spice and Wolf
    Oregairu

    hello!

I'm looking for a nice romance with comedy.

I would love an anime where the girl is a bit weird (sakurasou no pet na kanojo, chuunibyou demo koi ga shitai) or where the girl is bossy (toradora, zero no tsukaima, shakugan no shana).

I prefer one where they're still attending highschool, but it isn't a must.

    Thanks in advance!

Looking at your list, I would say:-
Nodame Cantabile series - female lead is a bit weird
Kaichou wa Maid-sama! - in this one, female protagonist is a bit bossy
Kimi ni Todoke - the female lead is perfectly normal, but you might like it.

Looking at your list I think you might enjoy tis one:

Beelzebub: The story follows the "strongest juvenile delinquent", Tatsumi Oga, a first year in "Ishiyama High" the school for delinquents. One day while sleeping next to a river he sees a man floating down it, he pulls him to shore and the man splits in half revealing a baby boy. This boy is the son of the demon king and he has been chosen as the one to raise it with the baby's demon maid Hilda. The story follows his life with the child and at the delinquent school. I personally find this one hilarious.

This boy is the son of the demon king and he has been chosen as the one to raise it with the baby's demon maid Hilda. The story follows his life with the child and at the delinquent school. I personally find this one hilarious.

Ahh, I've already seen that. I forgot to update that show on my list. Sorry, I didn't like it. But, thank you for trying.

I haven't completed a single anime show since last year so please oh please, recommend me something that is truly enjoyable. I'm looking for something hilarious like School Rumble or maybe a good thriller similar to Urasawa's works. Doesn't matter if it's old as long as it's entertaining.

    Thank you.

    For thriller, I'd recommend:-
    Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica
    Gankutsuou
    Perfect Blue

    - aoi bungaku series
    - Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade

if u don't mind supernatural thriller u can watch
    - Mouryou no Hako

You can try Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (2012). It has great action and the second half is really funny. And if you liked Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou's randomness, you may like Nichijou with is a crap-ton more random. I don't know why but the opening skit makes me laugh every time.

Anybody know some anime that people fights ghosts, demons and other supernatural things with use modern weaponry and tactic?
I would love to help you but, I have no idea of anything that really fits that. There are some anime where certain characters fight using modern technology against the supernatural but other than that, nothing. The two that I can think of at the moment are Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica and Ao no Exorcist.

You're right about my dislike for episodic shows. I've already seen One Outs which is in fact one of my favourites :) I'll try the other shows you recommended. Thank you very much!

I've tried both of them. Both of them are crazy in their own unique way but not my cup of tea. You're forgetting that Danshi Koukousei No Nichijou had that little continuity with the Literary Girl skits which was the sole reason I kept pushing forward :D

Don't think there are many like that. Might try Hellsing Ultimate to some extent. Also Blassreiter also to some extent. Might also try Strait Jacket, but it's more magic, but looks nice. :P
