Nice episode, way better than last week's for sure. Kud's intro was kinda meh compared to the vn(just like Haruka's was last week) but I liked her little scene in the library.Oh well, wouldn't have wanted too much of her either way, this is Komari's route after all. Overall I thought the episode was really sweet.Komari's chicken and egg story is really sad in retrospect, I can't wait to see how they'll do her breakdown and her calling Riki 'oniichan'. I really liked that part in the vn, it was so twisted and sad.The whole thing with her brother making her forget about his death by making her believe his time with her was all a dream so she wouldn't be sad was really touching, hoping it translates well into the anime. This isn't directed at anyone but I feel like saying it: Komari may have an annoying voice and be the 'moe girl' stereotype or whatever, but I like her. She's that character that is really carefree, cute, happy and who (seemingly) has no problems in life and is nice to everyone and her route only made me like her more. I can get why people dislike her though, unlike with Rin. Seriously, how can people dislike or flat out hate Rin?(talking about some hate I've seen elsewhere) Sure, she kicks Masato once in a while, but she isn't a tsundere by any means like some(who haven't played the vn) claim she is.She's just a shy and awkward kid who can only be herself around her friends, and it's not like she treats Riki badly(ie: not a tsundere). Also, Kyousuke can play the guitar?I guess the band idea could've worked after all, lol. |

Hey, I really liker this episodes. My only complains are about the still frames and the somewhat-rushed part of Riki and Rin meeting Komari with the book, but the rest worked well. I was worried this episode would have an awkward pace, but then was better than expected. I like the way all Little Busters went to the retirement center. Maybe is the way JC found to highlight the friendship theme in this adaptation. Regarding some complaints about Kurugaya going with them, I don't think it's out-of-character, after all she joined the Little Busters exactly to have some fun. Ah yeah, some more serious scenes in the retirement center used some nice lightning effects IMO. They set the tone right. Btw, couldn't help but Lol at Masato yelling "AWW YEAH!". Masato > Sunohara (Clannad) as far as comic characters go. :p |

Aversa said: Seems like Kurugaya has some interest in other girls which suggests she might be lesbian i wonder how that will turn out in the end. Having to choose between Kengo/Masato and Rin/Komari I think most people would choose second pair if they just want to have fun at their expense. Especially Rin's reactions are adorable (talking cat and so on). Plus she stated that she likes cute things. And it leads to one more scene that I would love to see reason why she turned down possibility of being Kud's roommate. |

Ironically, Komari is my least favorite female character in LB! (her voice really annoyed me when I first heard in the VN), but her route has the best emotional impact IMO. JC did a good choice adapting it first. I saw some people annoyed by Rin in my Twitter timeline... xD I guess is more because of her dub. But she is amazingly cute. <3 Didn't knew Kyousuke could play the guitar too. But then is no surprise, since he's always amazing~ xD |

This episode was rushed and felt very awkward. The events felt so messed up and unnaturally placed. It is hard to get anything for those who have not played the VN. No wonder the number of viewers decreased that much. The current anime is just too disjointed. And this is just great, what a perfect time to start one of the girls routes. Aside from that, it seems that the scripters have decided to cut out the romance for the protagonist when they invited the entire group to tag along with Riki to the old home...hope it is only for this route...Also Kojirou's screaming is not funny at all. It was epic in the game... I hate to say it but I'm seriously considering dropping this series. I am still willing to give it until they finish two of the girls routes before making judgement because of the superior VN. Right now so far I have been EXTREMELY dissapointed. Some of the major flaws include: 1) Awkward pacing/storytelling/Disjointness in the story. 2) THE JOKES ARE NOT FUNNY. Masato is not funny. (and the only reason I may laugh at the content is because it reminded me of the VN, but other than that if I never played the VN I would not laugh at almost anything in the anime) 3) Little BUDGET animation/Very Pale Graphics/TOO MANY STILL IMAGES/Diamond face (and please I am not comparing to KyoAni, everything in 3) I listed is bad compared to MOST of the other animes currently airing currently). 4) Random forced behavior from characters. |

I was expecting more of Kud in this episode. In the VN, I remember that Kud was looking for a roommate & Riki took her to Kurugaya. Maybe they will show it in another episode. |

This was a great episode, in my opinion. Kud was absolutely adorable~ I'm glad to see that we are finally getting into some drama. I've only played part of the common route, so I can't wait to see what's in store for my adorable Komari. I'll make sure I have tissues by my side, because I know I'll cry. I mean, I even teared up at the scene on the roof with the picture book. But I'm kind of a crybaby anyway (my god, I've cried wile looking at butterflies before) so it might not be the same for everyone else. |

I hate that freaking soundtrack so much. I know it's the original VN soundtrack, but it's unfitting as hell and it sounds like... Yeah, it sounds like videogame music. And it shouldn't, because this is not a VN anymore, it's an anime series. Anyways, this episode was ok. Kud is cute. |

After watching 4 episodes this far, I guess I could grasp the actual potential of this adaptation for now. The actual problem for LB! (besides of the obvious budget related problem) is inconsistency. This is shown with great differences between the current even-numbered episodes (which I liked very much) and the odd numbered (which is very mediocre). I guess the director's lack of experience played a big role here. In contrary, the scriptwriter for the anime series clearly shown that she known what she was doing. Her alterations, despite of the unavoidable cuts, so far are okay and some are even better than the sometimes-too-mundane original script. As for those who didn't like the moe, comedy and overall tone of LB!, I believe it comes back to the nature of Key's story. Naive characters, simple yet dramatized problems, silly comedies, extremely sweet girls, those are kind of similar to super duper sweet rainbow colored caramel cheesecake which is planted with emotional bomb. While the bombs are sometimes forced, (again) naive, or relying to magical plot devices, it usually uses a very powerful force : raw, simple emotions in extreme force. It will be meh if it doesn't hit the target, but it will be very effective when it works. So, the first parameter will be Komari's route, which is a kind of middle point between average to bad routes and the awesome routes in LB! I hope the director could pull the drama right, since Key's works are kind of relying to execution to be able to deliver... |

It will be meh if it doesn't hit the target, but it will be very effective when it works. I have not played any of the Key's VNs, but I agree with you very much that LB! has all the characteristics of Key's style. The exaggerated super-moe characters, the offbeat and random humor (and antics), the disjointed appearance of the story... I have a feeling that many who expressed their intention to drop it are not warm to this kind of style. For me, the super-moe girls are always welcome -- they are always cute, fun, healing (and I think the seiyuu's in LB! have all done pretty good job in achieving that). The humor is hit-and-miss but to me the hit-rate is better than, say, Angel Beats, and I have not got tired of it, at least not yet. As for the animation, it is really not at the very best level, but it is not bad at all -- it is also pretty consistent so far. I heard that events in this episode is rushed, yet the pacing looks fine to me, and the whole episode ends pretty soon for me, a sign that I am enjoying it so I didn't realize the passing time. Yet I have a question: Isn't Rin supposed to be fearful of contacting other people? How come it is shown that she is giving massages to old people by herself? I do not see her friends accompanying her in the room. Perhaps Rin's problem is not really that serious? Is this scene also in the VN? |
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

I'm enjoying the Komari arc, kinda takes baseball and puts it on the backseat right now. Introduced Kud which is cool but no real indication of her joining the Little busters yet. Komari is awesome so I hope they drag her arc for a bit. I have a feeling whoever the guy who wrote the book passed away and Komari is repressing the memory. |

It was made better than in the game, imo :D Kudo~! She looks cuter than in vn so far, kinda like Fuuko (though I love her better of course). Kyan Ai supikku japanizu? >w< Still no Mio, I guess we have to wait for the end of Komari-Max's route. Not that I need her. Well, maybe with new voice she will get more likeable. I wonder about next episode though. Will it only consider shooting stars thing? I think it wouldn't be enough, but it's not like I remember everything from the game... I wonder how will they set their "date" though? :D Anyway, I wasn't big fan of Komari's route, I hope it will make bigger impact on me here :) Who's route is going to be next? I think Haruka's. Mio still isn't here, Kurugaya and Rin are obviously out of the question, and I think that they are keeping Kud for later, because she was the no.1 most famous heroine, I guess ;) I wonder about Kanata's and Sasami's routes. Kanata can't be before Haruka, but I have no idea what about Sasami, since I haven't play EX version. |

The picture book IMO shows the brother being happy to have his sister and the mother giving one to Komari. Is that right? Anyway I saw VN spoiler and Komari in the past with her brother when he was around. I have to say if that last part is what I think it is, RAGE will ensue. I HATE HATE HATE DISEASES! I didn't remember the name of her brother when it was first mentioned and after the geezer said his name, and Riki thought of that picture book, the name only flashed on the screen for like a split second. Its still doing that. The name only shows if I pause the video. |

I have two problems with little busters so far and that's one the pace. The pacing is way too fast contrary to beliefs they are leaving out little important details and stuff such Komari drawing children's books. This then leads unto the second problem which I like to call " unnatural greetings " this is basically when things seemed forced. For example kuragaya suddenly join little busters or old homes ( but LB tagging along did not). This forcefullness removes you from the enjoyment sadly but it's understandable. There are a few other concerns such as Rin being too open and not enough on her, Kuragaya being more a yuri than a big sister type, the thinning of some character models and most frustratingly only 3 mins screen time of Kud ! If they don't male a kud wafter ova I'm seriously going to rage ! Apart from that it's shaping my concerns might be a slight over action but so far I give this episode a 7.8 |

This show be so meh. The girls are so insufferably retarded, look at this chart: Now, obviously the best place to be would be that center line, however many of the girls in Little Busters, the worst of which I've depicted with the green line, goes way past this optimum so that she is not that cute at all, and is in fact rather annoying. I was debating whether to include a scale past 10, to depict minus cuteness, as to be so irritating that they have no positives at all, thankfully all the girls manage to avoid it for now. I might also add that setting 5/10 on the retarded scale (whatever that may be) to be the optimum was arbitrary, if you believe that the optimum lies elsewhere, please tell me, so long as you've backed it up with some mathematical equations. |

There is definitely no relation between cuteness and retarded. Think of it this way: Retarded people are not cute. Annie is retarded. Does that really make Annie not cute? The answer may be yes or no depending on what the person defines as cute and to the degree of mental agility( I dont like using the word retarded) they would enjoy. It also depends on what a person sees or categorise as mentally slow. Every person sees people very differently and that's the reason everyone is different. Cuteness is not the dependent variable of mental agility. |

Hydnlife said: That's not Kamikita Takuya, the one who is supposed to have written the book. That's Kamikita Kojirou, who if you judge by his age you should realize his actual relationship to her. The importance here is not properly conveyed because it was rushed. Basically, she "forgot" a brother which her mother claims does not exist. Now Riki found an old man who's related to her and who she also doesn't recognizes. Tie it up with the picture book about forgetting their past and.... seriously, it's not that hard. SO HE REAL!!! and damn he's old XD I know it's rushed but it's not like we haven't seen this particular plot point before. |

I have a hunch the old guy could be Komari's dad or uncle or grandfather or other male blood relative. And the Takuya name on the picture book could be related to him too. Next episode please!!! |

Phainx said: the second problem which I like to call " unnatural greetings " this is basically when things seemed forced. For example kuragaya suddenly join little busters or old homes ( but LB tagging along did not). This forcefullness removes you from the enjoyment sadly but it's understandable. I have not read the VN but I do not have any problem with Kuragaya joining Little Busters - in ep.3 she was shown to be very interested in Riki and so when she knew Riki is actively involved in Little Busters and seeing what kind of people in it, she just wants to get in to have the same fun as Riki. As for the old homes, since one thing leads to another and the whole Little Busters is summoned - as part of Little Busters I would expect her to join too. I am sure to her it is just part of fun and friendship experience that she craves. What I have problem though is why does RIN suddenly become so easygoing regarding human contact when she is in the old home. Isn't she very fearful of human contact? But in the anime she is shown to be doing massage to an old person whom she met for the first time, without any of her friend accompanying her in the room. Does it mean Rin's problem is not as bad as it first appears? Is it portrayed the same in the VN? Gash_V-D_Hetchum said: That's why I said "at first". I also partially blame my media player. I didn't remember the name of her brother when it was first mentioned and after the geezer said his name, and Riki thought of that picture book, the name only flashed on the screen for like a split second. Its still doing that. The name only shows if I pause the video. The name on the picture book lasted long enough for Japanese people or people with advanced Japanese language level to read it I think. At least I do not need to pause my player to read and remember the name. I would agree that in anime sometimes information is flashed too quickly for audience to read but it is not the case in the case of Komari's picture book. |

Not sure if someone has mentioned this but I think its because the old lady has an interest in cats so since both of them have the same interests, Rin was able to feel more comfortable. If my memory serves me correctly, Rin was less shy towards people who likes cats |

If my memory serves me correctly, Rin was less shy towards people who likes cats I'm also pretty sure that Rin is only shy towards people her age she's expected to make friends with. She's shown to be perfectly capable of talking to people provided she has help and knows what to do (e.g. recruiting people in the girl's dorms). Talking to the elderly would not really be difficult for her I think. |

Rins supposed to mature with each play through of the VN, and within in the story she is supposed to progress. But it's true that Rin connects to people who likes cats, you should so it with the dorm head and if we're lucky sasami. But there missing important about Rin early on. But I still have a problem with Kuragya joining as its just too sudden theres no build up. I believe someone already answered your question. You couldn't say she's already easy going in your point of view because what we see is still-frames on the Rin massaging the old woman part. And as long as she's guiding her and someone(Cats, cat-lover, one of the guys in Little Busters, anyone that is her acquaintance which is really close to her) is near her to ease her nervousness, she'll do it. I'm referring to the Rin massaging the old woman and Rin on-stage. I don't know if you played the VN but that was explained in the baseball match in your first playthrough. Phainx said: But I still have a problem with Kuragya joining as its just too sudden theres no build up. Are you talking about she tagged along in the retirement center or joining in the Little Busters? Either way, it's simple, she wants to discover something that she'll get some fun. That was already answered/explained on episode 3. |

I'm going to puke sunshine tasting rainbows with small little butterflies after this episode... I hope her route will be finished soon, it's getting harder and harder to resists carving out my eardrums from my head every passing episode. And listening to Children of Bodom while watching the episode was...strange. No ~wafu? What sorcery is this? Also, Kurugaya's, Kud's and Haruka's voices sound a tad bit different from the VN. I wonder if it's the equipment or what. Speaking of Saigusa, at least she had a jahaha this time. 4/5 for the non-Komari parts. They used Lamplight from the OST, my second favorite LB!-related music, I'm happy for that. |

I was trying to imagine that but got something beyond human understanding that was both cute and groteque... Lamplight as second fave ey? Same here :D My personal fave has to be Approaching Light |
