Every one on this site is so in love with torrents it makes me sick. I downloaded an entiere seven season show in like three days, and half of the time I had the download pause because I was online. I download a 1gb xvid anime in 2 hours( i have 768 up 3m down dsl internet conection) and I dont use torrents or direct download. Its safe its clean and I swear no ones heard of it here and no one even cares because Iv put it on the forums a few times. Dont take me the wrong way Im not tryibg to be an ass Im just trying to help people and myself because the more people I get to turn from torrents the better the sites I use will be and there only getting better every day. If any one wants to know what i use ask.

My girlfriends broher has a 5m connection and I download a 4g dvd in like twenty min at his house using these files, its a little trickier to set up than torrents but its safer and way faster.

HI!
I torrented a 5 GB batch torrent in about 1h 20!

Though torrents are great, I agree that it shouldn't be one's only source.
Torrents are better for longer series' batches, direct downloads are fine every now and then, and xdcc is better for single episodes/movies,etc.

I once attempted to download a roughly 200 GB Touhou music collection (in flac, obviously), but I decided I could live with .ogg and .mp3.

Anime-related would probably be one of the Gundam series, they're roughly 10-12 gb each, and I've downloaded about 5 of them total.

Torrents are almost always faster than xdcc for me, and very few new releases have (free, unlimited) ddl options, and those that do tend to be quite slow due to overload anyway.

Torrents are the superior technology, from a networking standpoint, because it's a shared medium as opposed to single source which can suffer numerous issues, least of which is saturation. (10 people downloading at 1MB/s from a 100Mbit bot = everyone else hosed or waiting in queue). Not to mention torrents have inbuilt error correction, easy to use scheduling and can simply be left to their own devices compared to DDL and XDCC requiring attention to start/pause/resume downloads.

If you're not talking about DDL or XDCC, then I can only assume you're referring to something like newsgroups or a client system like emule/etc, which fail on numerous fronts. If not, then please do enlighten us as to your amazing technology.

lol, eMule.

Yeah, torrents are usually a lot faster than xdcc, but some groups have some epic bots. I think some group (might have been Bakawolf) had a bot with enoug bandwidth for several people to easily hit 1 mb/s speeds, though well-seeded torrents easily do so.
I'll generally XDCC individual episodes/new releases, as torrents can get rather slow when first released and it gets rid of the obligation of seeding it when I'm already seeding something that needs me more.
Torrents are easily the best for downloading complete series/movies/larger stuff, especially with what all of the clients are capable of nowadays.
DDL... well, if you can find a decent link, then there's no reason not to.

Also, some people download simply to test the series out. See if they actually even like it first, before they go shed money out on it.

Yeah, i forgot about that. I´m one of those people. I either look at the Anime online or download it to see if i like it. If i like it i usually keep it on my HD until i have bought the whole series and then delete it.

I would never have bought all the Anime i have if i couldn't see if i liked it first.

I just fucked up, i bought Love Hina on a whim, and now im suffering trough all of it just because i bought it.:S

I live in a small town in norway, with 300 Km to the nearest Anime/manga shop, where a full anime box with 24 eps, is about 1000 NOK (200 USD). Also i dont have regular income just yet. Correct me if im wrong but, if i were to buy 1500 days worth of anime with the prise mentioned would be about 63,000 NOK(13,000 USD) I dont hink iv've seen that much money in my life:S

The Biggest batch iv've downloaded was 150 episodes of One Piece;P

39.1 GB and 37.5 GB are probably the top 2 biggest I've dled so far.

The bigger the better(if it's a good series). If I could dl a torrent with 1+ TB of anime that I don't have, I surely would.

If I didn't torrent the best quality video and subs of an anime, then I didn't add it to my list(until I do).
