well a dual wielder would have a hard time a shielded guy. especially one as strong as him. apparently his skill slows down the opponent's reaction time....if not slow time itself.

why do i think one of them is going to die soon....

- Sex Debate
- 16.5 Controversy
- Wether Kirito's hand got cut off or not

In regards to heathcliff, I don't think time itself is slowed because you can't really call that a sword skill in a world built for swords only(non-magic)....so i think that should give ppl clues to what's what

Holy shit, that went way too fast. O_o I still don't see anything special about this show. Like others have said, the pacing is terrible.
It's almost disappointing how the anime community is so easily impressed nowadays.
Is it really worth it to read the novels?

Depends, while the show does have terrible pacing the entertainment is still there. If you somewhat think that reading the novels will make things better to you (which usually does) then you should.

You got the wrong foot sideways against the forward. I'm not sure what that is supposed to mean.
Anyways, You clearly haven't been around much, cuz there is a LOT of hate going around here thowards the anime. Me myself also think it's pretty shit too, but I really enjoy watching how they adapt the LN that I love so very much.

Yes, it's very worth to read the novel. It's waaaaaaay(like really way) better than the anime in my opinion.

When Asuna healed Kirito, you could see he was still paralyzed.

Though if you noticed, Kirito shouted to that one other guy, not the ugly face guy, "Quickly! Use the antidote crystal!", you could see he was paralyzed as well and still able to maneuver his arms.

Basically, it seems you still has some control over your arms, probably to deal with paralysis if your alone.

I find this kind of comment quite funny. Easily impressed is a matter of opinion. Honestly, tell me bro, is there any anime that is particularly good? Death note (spoiler:)
, Code Geass went on this overglorification of Japan being significant (really? how important are they to the world, really?), steins gate have terrible slow ass start, clannad afterstory may sound pretty far fetched to some, fate zero have IMO incredibly overrated fighting scenes filled with cutscenes CGs instead of actual animation. And you are all correct, SAO have an odd pacing to it.

Point is, you got it backwards. People are expecting too much from animes. Not the reverse. For all of you claiming to want great stories, and doesn't give a damn about animation, fan service and among other attractions, YOU ARE FOOLING YOURSELF. If anyone is truly a fan of stories, they would read novels, instead of anime. NO, that is not an insult, I read novels myself.

tl dr, i'm tired of hearing all these complaints about stories never being good enough in anime. Maybe you should read novels instead, because they have the best stories in the world, a place animation or real life TV dramas will never reach. (to clarify, i read novels myself, it's by no means an insult)

While I agree with almost everything you said. It seems you have somewhat missed something: The actual fact that anime has horizons that can be crossed, is that is possible to create unique stories that you don't usually see in TV. You may not have implied it, but it seems that for you, to someone truly enjoy anime, they need to read the LN/N because the anime itself fails in deliver what it should. That is to blame the anime alone and not expectations. It's hard to put expectations in something that the source material fails which I believe is not the case with SAO.

tl;dr I think you should re-evaluate your mindset of all anime can't be good paced, with good soundtrack, with good story and that is just possible in the other versions.

Yep, I agree with you.

Though, it's not about the novels being the better medium - it's the issue with the story originally created for that specific medium.
The original material is almost always better than any adaptation, simply because the story was made specifically with the strenghts and weaknesses of the original medium in mind. And most of the time it does not translate well when you move it elsewere.

Novels provide ample space for lengthy internal monologues and details, space that is not available in anime adamptations, or even worse in manga adaptations.
Manga rely a lot on imagery, but when you adapt them into anime you often end up with a lot of filler material just to make a couple-dozen page story last the full 20 minutes necessary for an episode.
Anime can convay a lot through ianimation, but if you translate that into a novel or manga adaptation then it just doesn't happen.
For the same reasons, 99% of movie adaptations of videogames or videogame adaptations of movies are sub-par.

That said, if you ignore that, the SAO anime is wuite good - you might not get nearly as much details as in the novel but oh well, if you're not the type that really wants to find out about every last detail then the adaptation is more than enough.

That's a good point, but it doesn't make up for the fact that a lot of people had to live up with 2-6 fillers (or side stories) episode just for the sake of watching the main story. As you said, for those who do not seek particular details or plot "edge" this things pass like nothing. But those who seek more joy with expectations of a decent adaptation have lost hope. Since I'm not the type to go around every little detail, this became something really entertaining, but even if it keeps up, it won't get more than a 6/10 with luck.

I can't believe they rushed the romance in half an episode. The signs of the romance isnt even that obvious in the previous episodes... So basically in half an episode, they kiss, clearly had sex, and will probably get married.. I hate when the romance in an anime doesn't progress slowly. I'm not a LN reader but I don't like the rush they pulled off in this episode. Hope the future episodes won't disappoint me even further, but just my opinion.

But it was extremely noticeable...? Remember the episode with Lisbeth? How about the episode where they became friends? IIRC, Asuna started liking Kirito during Ep 5 when she fell asleep and he 'watched her (lulz), I think she'll tell the story later or it already passed. I don't remember. Not sure about Kirito but it definetly was not 1 day (like with Liz but Kirito doesn't care about her that way). There is a 6+ month difference from Ep 5 to 10.
