THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
As I expected Federal China and Britania made an alliance.
???? How Lulu managed to go back to school? Is he a body double?
United States of Japan, US of China, US of India... the name "Axis Powers" against Britania predicts the future of defeat to me...
This is the first time Lulu's "Strategy" was beaten by another strategy.
I don't think Lulu's decision of tuning down the Diethard's proposal of retreat was uttelrly wrong. Karen is an ace pilot and Gurren is also indispensable for the operation. He could have brought her back if the battle field had not been an irrigated land.

Loved the episode, action packed. Get to see the new Knightmares in action such as Todou's Zangetsu which has had a major upgrades. And the Hardon Cannons on there ship =3

I too was wondering about how Lelouch got back to Japan so quick also. And since Anya has a picture of him in her phone (?) makes me think if she is connected to him or Marianne in anyway.

As to the strategy being beaten I am not surprised, the Chinese have geniuses in military tactics since the feudal era's - speaking of that been reading The Art of War from Sun Tzu =) Anyway due to the back stabbing Eunich's that has bought them time to regroup and reorganize.

Well then you hate it for the reasons I love the whole geass franchise lol.

And for the very last bit - you should put it to the spoiler tags >_>

Overall - wtf, did anyone notice that there was a young Lulu there between the all photos Anya had O_o"

P.S. And YAY! For even more Kallen!Lulu xD Kallen throwing lightning and thunder towards Lulu and C.C walking. Lulu Freaking out about Kallen getting captured and changing his plans just to save her :3 (I doubt that there's many of those who would Lulu specially go to save)

Loved this episode! Though some parts jumped way to fast.
And I'm glad we got a really nice KallenXLelouch development :)

Also, I wonder what happened at the end. Was that really Lelouch at school, or someone pretending to be Lelouch (maybe Rollo, since we didn't saw him in this episode, IIRC).

Great episode, defiantly the best in a couple of weeks. I wonder who that was at the end. Zero cant afford to lose Kallen and Gurren, so I also agree with his decision to try to rescue her.

LOL at all the Cheese-kuns on C.C.'s side of the truck!

But yes.... WTF with Lelouch's double! I think I was staring at my screen in confusion during the whole ED. Maybe....I dunno maybe.....some power of Rolo's geass that we haven't seen yet? I want more!

Oh and Orange-kun in action next episode? YAY!

Edit: Wat I got from the ending message was there would be a new OP and ED from FLOW and Ali Project respectively starting on the 7th of July. If that is true then YAY! I like both of those groups. Especially if this OP is anything as good as Colors.

Wow, the last three or four episodes were not that good but this ione was truly awesome, probably the best of the season. Action-packed with a lot of emotion and crazy wtf script. Pure entertainment. Pure Geass. Loved it.

Man, a lot of things sure happened in this episode for no other reason than that the writers said that they happened. There really was no logical flow of the story from one event to another.

Pretty much all of season 2 has been like that, but it was especially bad in this episode.

Orange comes back from the dead again. Kallen gets kidnapped. Tohdoh's custom Knightmare is named Zangetsu. The Marianne conspiracy is still unanswered, and as the series passes it gets more likely for there to be an omniscient mastermind behind all of this.

It's still a decent episode, but I thought I was supposed to be watching Code Geass, not Mobile Suit Bleach Destiny.

Lelouch being beaten that badly and getting irrational/emotional all of a sudden....what happened to you?

That was a really really bad move from Lelouch. Did the emperor's geass lowered Lelouch's IQ as well???? Since the beginning of this season, he keeps making one stupid mistakes after another, always getting saved by ridiculous strategy (i.e. the million Lelouch cosplay)...He is 90% of time unprepared, unlike his older self....

I now wonder if the producer planned BOTH seasons at the same time to avoid incoherence (which is climbing since the second season) or simply following the Gundam Seed Destiny path of doom (i.e. super stretched plot elements)?? Lelouch losing memory was acceptable...now he has to lose his intelligence too??? Does the producers absolutely have to downgrade the protagonists (like in Destiny)....Sunrise should have learned a lesson from previous experiences....

Still, that was frustrating but not enough to pull this series lower than 8/10....yet....

bla bla bla

that was unlike him, but i think it adds a bit of humanity to him. hes still a kid after all. he must be beaten alteast once or twice. only then can he really be good. provided he lives through it. sometimes experience is the far better tool to have. but anways....next ep will be good.

He only haltered so much in his leadership once Rukia Kallen was captured. Plus, if Lelouch had actually won as easily as he had before in every one of his battles, he'd be just another flat character in the Sunrise franchise, and we'd all be bored with him before season 1 ended.

And after episode 8, it became clear that Sunrise simply decided not to kid themselves about R2 being a serious anime anymore, and cut half the budget for more Pizza Hut deliveries in their staff meetings. The rest speaks for itself.

There were a few things hidden in this episode,

the main one was a hint of Lelouch's plan
He mentioned how he planned to form an axis to take down Brittania. So I think that will be the overlying theme for the rest of the season.

As for the end...
poor eunuchs and Brittania... had you left things be, you would've captured zero... but you just had to f*** with Xingke... i foresee temporary alliance between him and Lelouch

well, Lelouch losing once in a while is okay....but he kept losing grounds since the last few episodes of season 1. Sure, have a million Japanese free is a feat, but one achieved by a ridiculous mean.

He can lose elegantly or pathetically. He can lose face to impossible to win situations. But this time, he was pathetic when, after putting much effort, finally decided to retreat. It's like he slapped his own face. He was humiliated in front of his own subordinates... I wonder if his followers will start to doubt his leading skills in the future. (All this because he lowered his guards simply after getting rid of the first obstacle). The same when he was playing chess with his brother....he completely lacks the determination and will now.

From what they've said in interviews, it's pretty clear they're making it up as they go along. Like how they set up that whole bit with C.C. and Suzaku back in episode 22, and then never mentioned it again, and even said they changed their minds on that.

Seriously, was this episode fast-paced or what? Made it difficult to keep up. I’m glad to see some good old strategic battles now but the whole “naming attacks” thing is starting to get annoying this season. But at least the parallels between season 1 and 2 are quickly disappearing and it looks as though the next episode will be an interesting one, judging from the episode preview.

Looks like Tianzi got a fanservice shot! ^_^

...Lulu was really, emotional (I guess that's the word for it) this episode. :/ I didn't think that he would have been that reckless in his actions. Xing-ke was pretty cool this episode though, not going to lie. :]

So, a big WTF on how the heck Lulu was at school. o_o I'm definitely confused right now. Does he have a double stunt Lulu or something? XD

At least by that logic, such a loss in this episode was foreshadowed through the ridiculous chess match. But, without being halfway through R2 at this point, and a real possibility for a Sunrise-backed Gainax ending in the works, it's best not to look too far ahead with this series.

so Xing Ke is pretty much Lelouch + Suzaku but with bad health. he really should ally with Zero, as they aren't going to hurt Tianzi. I doubt Lelouch would of reacted to anyone else getting captured like that. kallen is their best pilot though.

anya having lil lulu pics? something is going to come of that, especially with suzaku and and milly knowing he was a prince. how could suzaku not notice that one pic was CC ? what an idiot. here's hoping the indian army will be useful, and not just more fodder.

but he was defeated soooo easily, I can't believe it!

lol! Is that what they are? I was wondering what the heck they were. C.C.'s been all over them this season. They're pretty cute. Like a deformed pikachu.

There was a lot going on, almost too much. It was like a non-stop ADD barrage of twists and explosions. So I'm not sure I can say how much I did/didn't like it until I see some of the issues get resolved. But I do see why LeLouch decided it was a good idea to kidnap Tianzi at the end of last episode. I still think he could've gotten Xing-Ke in on it, but it sounds like he had (coup d'etat) plans of his own.

I will say that I don't mind seeing Xing-Ke outwit LeLouch here. A lot of his wins have come because he knew his surroundings better than his opponents did (collapsing structures and roads, geothermal power plants, etc.). So, it would make sense that since he's fighting in unfamiliar territory that the one thing he can't really plan for is the environment. And this time, Xing-Ke's knowledge of it was the trump card in his battle with LeLouch. I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't LeLouch's first and only loss for the season.

Although if I was LeLouch, I would've gotten Tianzi and Kaguya on the phone with Xing-Ke and let her tell him that she wanted her freedom. Seems like Xing-Ke would quickly fall in line if that were the case.

Also, to add to my previous replies... have anyone noticed how the frequency of Lelouch's geass usage has gone down....I hope the producers have not forgotten about his geass after all.... In the first season, he brillantly won many battles with the help of his geass. Without his geass, he is just not up to match to Xingke or his older brother (demonstrated by this episode)

I always found something was missing in the last few episodes. Now I know what it is. I can't believe the producers are totally ignoring the existence of geasses in the last few episodes (having V.V appearing doesn't count)

The Lelouch double back at school was totally a WTF moment for me.
I think I'm going to rewatch this episode sometime before next week because I feel that I missed something. I mean all the surprises and twists in Code Geass are what I love about it but there was a lot of stuff going on.

Awesome stuff though.

Right, I wonder how long Xingke will last. I hope he and Lulu end up working together at least for a bit.

:'(
In response to a lack of geassing, there hasn't been much opportunity for it imo. I mean, consider who's been in these episodes: MAJOR players like Schniezel, Tian Zi, Xing Ke, etc. geassing these people will obviously need to be epic and probably comes into Lelouch's plans later, if at all (concerning Tian Zi). On top of that, this episode was almost entirely on a battlefield and since Lelouch needs eye contact, he can't really geass anyone. It is also apparent that he doesn't use his geass in front of anyone but the intended victims for good reason (C.C excepted) and considering the lack of opportunity to isolate people in recent episodes it stands to reason that there will be less geassing.
Also, Lelouch is still at school, wtf??

Yeah that ought to be interesting, especially with Anya having problems with her memory, something to to do with our dear emperor?

And really Suzaku, you're such a baka. Do you know any other girls with green hair?

Does Millay remember Lelouch as a prince? Charles did mess with everybody's memory, though it is never said if the Ashfords are in on something or not.

That would be the next impossibility from the producers. Secretly the Ashfords are supporting Lelouch and Millay is an Ace Fighter and was supposed to be Lulu's Knight. *sarcasm*

Aa, I wonder what might happen now that the pink-haired Round is starting to think Suzaku's Lelouch is the same Prince Lelouch. Though Suzaku really was dense not to notice Lulu was with C.C. xD

It's nice to see someone other than his family be on par with me stragetic wise. I can't wait to Lulu get out of the triple threat.

And I didn't really get a Lelouch x Kallen feel. If anything, it was one-sided on Kallen's part. Lelouch just needs his bodyguard, 'cuz no one can protect him like Kallen can. That's the problem with only having one ace. If he had more talented people on his side, Lelouch may've been more willing to sacrifice her.

I have a feeling Anya's pic of little Lulu will help shed some light for Suzaku since he doesn't fully understand what Lulu's real goals are. Suzaku will probably ask Anya about the pic and she will probably explain how the kid in the picture's mother was killed in front of him leaving only him and his sister alive...etc. This will probably spark something in Suzaku and the story will progress from there for him.

This episode was amazing though, as was all the past ones. I really hope Xingke Li joins up with Zero but by the looks of the opening, he may form his own group :S.

I'm a little confused with why a few people think Zero is becoming dumber. Sure he made a few mistakes but who could have foreseen Xingke Li joining up with the Chinese assholes that be-trade their own country? Who could have seen there being another really strong knightmare that the Chinese government owned? Who could have seen any of the stuff that happened after the abduction of the princess? So I think Zero's doing pretty damn good for someone who hasn't been in china for more then a two days and doesn't know the surroundings all that well. Cut the guy some slack. Also I think if he always won, people would end up disliking the show or at least not liking it as much as right now. It makes it way more interesting and leaves me on the edge of my seat when things don't turn out like I expected them to in the episodes. I'm happy he isnt over powered like before.

wow so lelouch's genius plans are flawed this episode, kallen gets captured, suzaku doesnt notice C.C, orange-kun doesnt make an apperance, a Lelouch double makes an apperance instead, and the order of the black knights are driven to a corner and forced to wait for reinforcements that might not show up while fighting for their lives in a battle of endurance.
so I'm pretty disappointed but it was a pretty good episode overall

I sort of don't get Suzaku's behavior. He's okay with his best friend 'Lelouch' yet he can't stand and will do anything to kill 'Zero', but at the same time he knows they are one and the same. Just that in R2's time since he can't confirm whether Lelouch has got his memory back he can only assume that 'Zero' is someone else. But I was a bit surprised that he can casually see a picture of Lelouch and casually say his name like any other friend. He's supposed to hate him, right? He can 'pretend' to be friendly in school but anywhere else... just came as a bit odd to me. Although it's true Milly was there.

C.C. needs more free time. Kallen is definitely gonna take Lelouch away at this rate.... D: D: D:...
