This is a topic on the whim but I am curious to know how other people write numbers and I guess to an extent, letters and other characters as well.

Here is how I write them:

Pretty straightforward except for the 7. I see a lot of Americans don't add in the strike which makes sense since it's an extra stroke but for me, I'm not even sure when or why I incorporated it. It just popped up a few years ago and I guess it just helps give 7 a bit more character (in literal and personified senses)

I'm not sure how common the curly 2 is outside the US but here it's very widely used in classroom settings. In particular, on whiteboards because it just flows like that.

Also given the context, my 1's differ but other numbers remain the same.

wiki link to numerals for reference

For numbers, I'm referring to the Arabic representations and for letters, the Latin system. If you use a different system, however, feel free to chime in.

It must be pretty bad if the image in the spoiler is broken too! O_O

Another point I didn't bring up in the original post is how our numbers can look like rotated and/or flipped letters. That kind of puts numbers in a different perspective for me. Normally people who don't bode well with math tend to associate numbers as "digits" that are more or less associated with abstract concepts and problems.

However when I see: kuuderu's 4, Interrrrrpetgyu's 9, and Sans-san's (among others') 9

I see, respectively: an 'h' rotated 180° (also applies to the 7-L relationship), a 'q', and a 'g.'

In friendlier words, thems numbers look like letters that dinks they be numbers and stuff! Hyuck hyuck.

Seems like your mind don't want to consider context:
How can you see a letter in a neat row of numbers?

There is no 'usual' way. But your handwriting and numbers is 'unusual'.
Don't know how to explain, it just looks very remarkable to me.

The downward curve of the 4 before the vertical stroke does it. It connects at the top rather than the "conventional" point in the middle.

Also I'm not knocking anyones' way of writing if my comments make it seem that way. I am satisfied by these variations. They represent a positive side of humanity for me: the uniqueness that comes with each person.

Thank you!! :D <3
I like it too cause it makes my notes from classes look a bit neater. I think small and round handwriting is good for that.

Ah, okay! :) In this thread I'm seeing that at least the 4 varies a lot in the way it's written

That's exactly how I do it. Simpler = faster = more MAL time = better. But how do you write them even simpler when you're in a rush?
