The silent protagonist archetype has identified with several of our favorite animes, mangas, and videogames! I often find the silent protagonist to be this cool and reserved individual who,in the end, is revealed to have this mysterious and shocking agenda.
For me, i found the silent loner Killy(from the manga Blame!) to be among my favorite of silent heroes. A deadly fighter with an unwavering resolve, Killy was bad ass enough to get my vote!

What are your favorite silent heroes!

The only ones I think of at first are all of the main character from Dragon Quest, and Crono, from Chrono Trigger/Chrono Crossing/etc.

I suppose the hero from Dragon Quest VIII: Journey for the Cursed King and the hero from Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker.

Forgot about that one.

I also forgot Nagato from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya to some extent.

I'm not sure Tingle can count as a "silent protagonist"....

Back on topic, my favorite silent protagonist has to be the silent protag from Pokemon. Because I mean, c'mon, he saves the world and he's only f*cking 10. All in 48 hours. How is that NOT an accomplishment?

kanade tachibana, hei, and yin. they're all pretty silent but that's what makes them so interesting. they're not the gung ho types who rush in and do flashy stuff.

Chrono of course. I'm not sure I've seen many anime with silent protagonists. Maybe only in some obscure shorts.

Never really liked Silent Protagonists or Self insert characters in general, this was one of my biggest issues with Half Life and the Persona series, which are otherwise fantastic titles.

As far as anime, Brandon Heat was alright. Mainly because he managed, from what I remember, to have some semblance of a personality and his slience was part of his character and didn't necessarily define him. No, wait, the best example is Ichise from Texhnolyze. How could I forget the guy?

I only went with main protagonists btw, since I think that's what the OP was looking for? Because of that I didn't mention characters like Ayanami Rei and Yuki Nagato.

Really? No one said Kenshiro? Well I'll say Kenshiro then.
There are three kinds of intelligence: one kind understands things for itself, the other appreciates what others can understand, the third understands neither for itself nor through others. This first kind is excellent, the second good, and the third kind useless.

Probably because he isn't particularly silent? I mean, he talks a lot of shit when he's fighting.

Kakeru Kurosawa from Onani Master Kurosawa the manga. I don't know if he exactly counts since hes not planning the destruction of the world or anything but hes defiantly silent and has a plan.
