It was announced that color designer Michiyo Yasuda has died at age 77 on October 5. The cause of death was an illness. A private funeral with her husband and relatives has already been held.

Yasuda debuted as a color designer in 1976, working on Haha wo Tazunete Sanzenri, and in 1978 she worked on Mirai Shounen Conan, where she was fully in charge of the color designs for the first time. She was also the color designer for many prestigious Studio Ghibli films for more than 30 years until her retirement in 2008, where Gake no Ue no Ponyo was her last film. In 2013, she returned one last time to work on Kaze Tachinu with Hayao Miyazaki before his retirement. Yasuda worked on films such as Mononoke Hime, Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi and Howl no Ugoku Shiro, and more.

It must be the week of death or something, so many people dying at the same time. RIP.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

With the exception, Yasuda-San wasn't an Voice Actress.

It's always hard to say goodbye, especially for a legend at Ghibli. From what I've seen in Documentaries/Interviews she seemed to have lived a happy and fullfilled life. May you rest in peace, Michiyo Yasuda.

I loved her contributions to the industry :sob: it's a shame that she had to pass away. That being said, I am noticing that a lot of people are dying as of late .

Nope, not this one. It's just the news wasn't published/known the day/week they died.
Haters always gonna hate.

Very sad. : ( The anime community has lost yet another amazing talent. Thank you Mrs. Michiyo Yasuda for all your hard work and quality work. Your legacy will live on in the expertly colored works you have left behind and new fans will continually appreciate your amazing work. You made a number of Ghibli works really look amazing and numerous other works. My prayers and thoughts go out to her, her family, friends, and my fellow fans.
