Opeth - Ghost Reveries

Best thing I've ever heard in my life. What's your favorite? Feel free to name more than one.

EDIT: I should have added this a long time ago:

Dream Theater - Images and Words

Well then I'll take 3 albums:

- One for ol' time sake
- one which I discovered recently and became an instant classic for me
- and one because it is my fav.

One album goes wa~y back, which is:

Michael Jackson - Dangerous

this is the music I grew up with and this has to be my fav. album of MJ.

The 2nd album, the one the has surprised me a lot, is:

Demetori - Offering to the Sukhavati

To anyone that is a fan of Touhou and metal...give this a shot.

Last but not least is my fav. album (for several reasons):

Cradle of Filth - Midian

Not much I can add to this ^___^;

- Lith.

P.S. Nice pick, OP :]

Celldweller - Celldweller

The debut of one man band Celldweller, this album has forever changed my views on music, and has since become the embodiment of my overall tastes. Easily my favourite album of all time, at least until his long awaited sophomore.

Good for you.

I myself find them pretty good (save for their last album,
which is a bit monotone in my ears, but still nice).

I don't know if I can consider this one my favorite of all time, but it's def. a big-time favorite for me.

Modal Soul Classics by Nujabes

15ish tracks selected by Nujabes that have inspired him and his music throughout his career (and surely before too). I only disliked 1 track out of all of them, and I'd say that's hard to manage, since most albums usually only have a couple of good songs, not 14 out of 15 good songs.

One of the most prolyphic hip-hop albums of all time. If you haven't listened to this then you don't know what you are missing out on. Lyrical Masterpeice

Love this album

Quite possibly one of the best rock opera albums ever. 5 songs about a man who travel's back in time to save his girlfriend but ends up before the birth of christ.

Amazing progressive hip-hop. Definitely putting DC on the map

So sad that they broke up. Great great album

Love it

Remember when rap had meaning. I sure the hell do.

Most beautiful and talented female lyricist of our generation. This album just came out not too long ago and it is already high on my list.

P.O.S. is down right gifted when it comes to making music.

I still own this on cassete tape

If you have never listened to mindless self indulgence then what are you waiting for. Prepare to have a eargasm.

Just a few for now lol. I'm a connoiseur of many types of music. I have over 80000 songs on my computron so when it come's to have a favorite album I have many.

First up, want to say I'm glad to see Deltron 3030 getting a mention. That one is very good, and the title track in particular is hands-down one of the most epic pieces of music I've ever heard!

Now, as for my own album picks:

Kid A - Radiohead: If I had to pick just one album as a favorite, this would be it. Radiohead as a rock band is really good; but for my tastes, Radiohead immersed this deeply in left-field musical territory is even better.

DJ Shadow - Endtroducing....: I've got an affinity for percussion above most other musical elements, and the drum samples DJ Shadow uses sound absolutely killer, so me and Endtroducing.... are a nice fit. Additionally, the whole thing has a level of musical depth and intricacy that makes it the perfect rebuttal to anyone who says hip hop isn't music.

Kraftwerk - Minimum/Maximum. Hearing this, which spans a wide array of Kraftwerk's musical output, I could very much appreciate how they're the precursor to the sorts of music that followed them.

Daft Punk - Homework. My favorite dance album. The minimalism works nicely. Plus, it bears mentioning that the music videos made during this iteration of Daft Punk are joyfully absurd.

Queens Of The Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf. My favorite rock album. There's this awesome sound to it, and that's paired with really great songs that take advantage of it.

Station to Station - David Bowie

It's cold and hot at the same time. Each song exudes a scathing iciness that's only accented by its constant feeling of paranoia and insecurity. Bowie sounds like a wild animal trapped in a cage and looking for a way out. By the time I finished listening to this for the first time, I felt just as defeated as Bowie sounded. Highly recommended if you like blue-eyed soul mixed in with your Krautrock.

It changes often, so I can't give an accurate answer. Here are a few that aren't "phase" albums and will always hold a place in my heart:

There are other albums I am digging right now such as Porcupine Tree's 'Fear of a Blank Planet' and Rush's 'Moving Pictures' which I'd also recommend. As you can tell, I have a strong preference towards metal :P
