I always hear people complaining about it but I'm on the far opposite side
I love long anime's

I love to lay down in bed with my minifridge fully stocked and just plow through episodes of a series

I got through all of naruto and bleach in about 2 weeks each including breaks for real life

as an otaku it just means more to love,I mean seriously I hate getting attached to a charachter and having to say goodbye after only 20 something episodes, the only time I never minded it was deathnote
and thats because it moved so fast

seriosuly why does everybody see "long" as a bad thing?

naruto and bleach aren't bad because their long, their bad because their bad. If you like them, it's fine, if you hate them it's fine too. Don't make such a big deal out of it.

Because some people just don't want to watch such a long anime.
Or maybe there are fillers.

There are a variety of reasons. I don't like long anime just because I don't want to watch something that long.

Personally, I don't see long as a bad thing, just as something I'd have to be very committed to.

As someone who gets bored easily, I worry when a series is longer than 30 or so eps because I think, "I have to be really into this or else I'm just gonna drop it," and it's a lot worse thinking of dropping something 100 eps long than one that's only 20 eps long.

I usually steer clear of long series' unless it looks like somethng I'd REALLY take to.

For example, something that grabs my attention a bit that's 12 eps.... I'm a lot more likely to watch than if it was longer because I know that even if I don't like it, once I start, it isn't very long until it's over and I won't have to drop it.

I also love long running series and also short, 12 episodes long ones. If the characters and the plot is interesting enough then I can enjoy it no matter how long is it. For me it's absolutely no problem if the series is 400+, I love One Pice or Naruto anyway.

I love both kinds, though sometimes there are times in life when it's impossible to jam them into a schedule.

I love long series (whether it's a whole season or multiple seasons) and that goes for long Manga series too.

Is that even possible?

I only watched 3 100+ episode anime
I don't really like Bleach anymore - it keeps dragging on and on. Way too much boring fillers.
InuYasha was just ok - the original series kept on dragging about pointless stuff and the final series rushed everything though.
And Kateyko Hitman Reborn - I am really enjoying this. Even the fillers were great.

@Jiynnx I believe its possible, my little brother, under age 10, literally watched all the dubbed episodes of Bleach in less than half a week and he wasn't even on 24/7.

My opinions, on 4 1/2 shounen jumps, since most long going series are SJ.

Naruto - Horrible character growth. Naruto is still a idiot in the end and the fillers don't really help.

Shippudden - If 'Naruto' was never made, I'd say people would have probably have better opinions on this anime. Prequels can effect Sequels, and 'Naruto' had a big impact on it.

Bleach - Bounto Arc killed it. Also unexplainable events, one being Ichigo being able to kill/defeat Captains then losing to enemies which the Captains can beat which Ichigo has already beaten even though Ichigo has been training constantly.

One Piece - I had expected them to find one of the many pieces by now.

KHR - According to the rumors, after the entire Future Arc is done, it becomes a typical SJ series with random bad guys and random power ups. Regardless, the KHR manga is much better than the anime. Anime is much to censored.

Although one thing they all have in common. The fight scenes are too long.

I won't watch incredibly long animes. Perhaps something around 50-100 episodes long. If it's a series based off a manga; without fillers I'll watch it. Of course, I mad a mistake watching all 95 episodes of Rurouni Kenshin. >_> Something like Legend of the Galactic Heroes/Maison Ikkoku, keeps my attention mainly due to interesting characters and plot.

As for Naruto/Bleach, I quit watching quite a while ago, I admit I keep up with the manga. But that's it.

There is one good thing about long anime, fillers which you can skip especially in One Piece.

I've yet to get to the part that people say is enjoyable, and I'm already past the length of some amazing series. I just don't think it's all that great, the characters are just okay, so is the background, and the jokes aren't really funny either. I'm still always hoping the next episode will be good, but so far it only really manages to put me to sleep.

Back on topic, I usually don't have the attention span or will to watch only one series, I usually watch a variety based on mood. With long shows it's harder to actually get anywhere because the climax takes its time, then I get bored of the genre, leave it for a while, forget what it was about and so on. I still like quite a few, but actually starting something I know will take me more than a year to finish realistically is not that easy.

And on the edge of sanity I stumble and fall.

they're only bad if they hav no point and stretch a scene forever and hav boring flash backs while short animes only hav 12-26 episodes to explain a point clear and simple unless its one of those stupid kinds

this actually reminds me of dragonball z and when they ppl fighting against each other. there was just so much talking they actually talked more then they fought and thats how it lasted for 100 and something episodes. one fight could take almost 5 episodes

If it's long but consistently or mostly good, then I don't mind. Stuff that are super long and ongoing, but suck aren't good though.

The problem with that is, anime's won't go that long without it containing heaps of filler and stretched out plot aspects that don't need to be stretched out. So while longer anime's give you more time to relate to the characters, the shitty way it's expressed is always a hinder.

You're only on episode 18, I didn't really start liking the show until around episode 24. Most people agree that the first 20 or so episodes of Gintama are "meh".

The longest anime I've finished so far is Blood+ (50 episodes).
I end up dropping any anime over 100 episodes long. It just gets...irritating.

I remember I used to love Inuyasha, but it just kept dragging on and on. I completely gave up on that.

I tend to steer away from longer anime because they tend to drag on which is a bore. However, if someone I know tells me I should watch this right away, then I'll give it a try, and sometimes it turns out to be so good that I end up finishing it in no time and so I regret it.
