Pretty good first episode, especially when compared to some of the others. :|
I enjoyed it somewhat. Guess I'll see what the next couple of episodes are like and whether it pulls me in or not. :D

hm, I think it was a bit disappointing ._. As someone said, Zeros "secret" is shown way to early. They should've focus on his hate for vampires in much more detail, and THEN

And Yuuki.. even though I like her in the Manga, I think she's gonna annoy me in the anime ô.o Can't explain that exactly, but.. ._.

Well, actually I don't have much motivation to keep up with this, but I'll be fair and look how it's gonna turn out in the next episodes..

It's kinda obvious about halfway through in that scene in the barn, with the pills. And even before that that's a very common dramatic tool to use, to have one of the character hate a group of people which he is part of, especially with crappy vampire fiction.

I know this series will be great. I love the manga and so far they have been following the same storyline quite well, but they still add some new things to it. I love the ending theme!

Certainly can't compare it to it's oustanding manga counterpart but we haven't gotten very fair, only one episode. I liked the op okay, but I liked the ending theme better. The animation was pretty good, especially the backgrounds. I'm not too sure about Miyano Mamoru as Zero yet, but Yui Horie is good as Yuki.

I do think they could've waited before they did the whole
because it was kind of soon... I was watching that and I was like "what, already?". XD

I'm enjoying it though and can't wait for the second episode next week.

this was as bad as i expected it to be xD the opening song is horrible as well as the opening animation sequence. the plot is, well, vampire knight lol. i tried to read the manga a few times, but it was so boring and ridiculous that i always gave up after 10 pages or so.
guess i'll never know why do things like this become popular...

I had low expectations for the anime (since the art of the manga is too beautiful to even compare to the art of the anime) so when I actually watched it, I was impressed!

The seiyuu cast, for one, is basically amazing<3

I already ranted about this on LJ, so I'm pretty much ranted out on VK XD

I think they've ruined it.... Such a fabulous manga has become....so dull....

The animation was disappointing. The music was very good. The voice actors were okay despite they are really famous. I don't think Yui Horie should be doing Yuki's voice.

It lacked the suspence and surprise element of the manga.

Any way...the animation was not so good at some points but it really surprised me to hear Fukuyama Jun as Aidou i didnt know! :p I thought Mamoru wasnt right for Zero but it was ok! Also there was a lot of Thoru in Yuuki... overall it was okay but i do hope the animation gets better

I was really looking forward to this show and it was a bit disappointing. If they had left out the not so funny jokes and the retarded moving animations that went along with them this would have been a whole lot better. Going to stick with it in hopes of the plot and characters holding up the show in spite of its wasted time on humor.

Agreed, and the way Kaien Cross is a complete and total failure. this is the kind of junk that ruins anime. Other then that, I was empressed.

I don't see how you can interpret the opening sequence like that? Sure, she said something like "when you see them, you will be drawn to them" but can you explain to me exactly how you interpreted the prologue???

Little girl's in the middle of a snow storm and doesn't know what snow or white are. She must've been sheltered probably for good reason, or another common trick to pull in animes is that her memories were wiped or some stupid shit like that. She's recalling a previous conversation with someone, a woman, probably her mother or a similar care taker. The "It is something that's not red" line is a giant flag saying something's up. So if you're sheltered, or have no memory, and all you know is the color red, in an anime about Vampires, what could you be? And then there's an older vampire that shows up, the voice over of the woman condemns the sucking of blood and a little bit later on we figure out that that's the general consensus among vampires. So this must be a rogue vampire, probably getting revenge on the little girl's family and she's the last one. And then another vampire shows up and kills the other one. There's not gonna be two vampires show up randomly around a little girl, who knows nothing about her surroundings at all, wondering a forest. She's a vampire in some form.

That is some wild and far-fetched deductions there. I admit, there was too many hints in the first episode that weren't there in the manga. But what you have deducted is NOT OBVIOUS to the majority of the audience. I would not have thought up to that point. Your analysis skills are way beyond my own, I admit my defeat. But don't say it's OBVIOUS. it is NOT. If you can see that far in all the anime you watch or all the manga you read, then nothing short of Urasawa can satisfy your taste and escape your "predictions".

Not sure if it was in the manga since i've read it yet,

I find that the Tsukimiya Ayu reference (Taiyaki and uguu) from around 12:16 to 12:35 quite amusing and it also made me realised that Yuki was voiced by non other than Yui Horie.

I actually enjoy the ED more than the OP song. Then again my taste for songs have shifted recently..

Well, based from TheWestExit's prediction of everything that has to come from the FIRST 45 seconds was extreme. I mean, sure anyone would have guessed that after watching the first episode. But usually not the first 45 sec prologue. I was not discussing whether it is obvious or not, but wheter it is obvious that you can predict so much infos just based on the first 40 secs. But TheWestExit did a good analysis so I have nothing to say but praise him. In fact, my original post was about COMPLAINING on HOW OBVIOUS the anime has revealed spoilers. The manga is better because the reader are kept in the dark throughout the story and the suspense/mystery is very subtle.

NOTE: I have not read the manga.

It was ok, I love the story, the characters have promise, but it's nothing revolutionary. Enjoyable? Definitely.

Oh, and yes, I figured out that Yuuki was probably a vampire within the first minute or so. I do think that was a bit rushed, as I could have been wondering for at least a few episodes before they hinted at it.

but one of the reasons a lot of people like vampire knight (at least me and my friends) is thetwists they present. since things are kept fairly mysterious/in the dark and and revealed slowly, and somewhat subtly, you really remember how dramatic it was. The fact that the anime is just throwing around all these hints is just killing the dramatic flair that the manga does so well. It's just... so much more ob vious in the anime than i think it should be. I don't care if i already know all the vampire knight stuff to the current chapter, i still like dont like the fact that the points that i was so intruiged to learn are made painfully obvious in the anime.

and i dunno how you people like the music. it seems highly vampire cliche styled music and it bothers me. the opening is decent though. but the sound effects used in the show are just.... melodramatic.

i'm also not a fan of yuuki's voice. i love her in the manga (except the most recent chapters) but like someone else mentioned, i feel like they're going to make her one of those annoying main shoujo protagonists. Yuuki's voice i okay, but i absolutely LOVE zero's voice, and aidous voice. Actually, i think they did such a good job portraying zero, aidou, and the chairman. they were just as i'd imagined theyd be.

as foor ichijou being blonde, i always thought him and aidou had the same hair color so i'm not surprised or angry about that at all.

i'm really hoping this gets better, because right now its somewhat dissappointing.

Everyone is being too picky. It is only the first episode, I have to say though so far I'm pretty impressed. To tell you the truth, I don't really want to judge this series after only seeing one episode. Everything seems okay to me anime-wise. Great voice acting, decent animation, and beautiful art work. There should be no comparison to the manga on that part, but people are going to do it anyway. :/ Obviously it will be different, and obviously it won't suit everyone....though I for one, am loving it so far.

Can't wait for the next one. And about Zero's 'secret' I'm sure they had good reason to 'speed it up'. It's a shoujo anime, it's not going to go chapter by chapter (most don't). Let's wait until the next episode and see what happens. Maybe it'll calm down some people.

Same reason most guys don't watch Oprah, makeover shows and how-to's on the wonders of decoupage, but a lot of women watch action movies. Shoujo mostly just tries to stir up a fangirl base for their male characters through romance and relationships, which most guys don't care about at all. Personally, I don't care what genre a show is lumped in to, but this first episode was pretty annoying to say the least.

Meh. While I read the manga, I'm not a crazy fan of it, so I didn't have my hopes too high. It's okay. *shrugs* The seiyuus are the best part. They did a very good job, I thought.

I was torn with the animation. On one hand, it's very nice at times. But Yuuki... my goodness, what did they do to her? Her skin color looked weird half the time, and her hair was just horrid. She isn't nearly as cute as she is in the manga.

...I also laughed at the glowing red eyes. Lame~

But still, it was okay. I rather enjoyed most of it, especially the music (OP = love). I'll be looking forward to future episodes, anyhoo.

Exactly what Ria said. It's Studio DEEN, so I know that the animation isn't going to be Top-Notch. I still wish they would keep some consistency though. I like their style with Shion no Ou and Higurashi, but it isn't going to work in VK's case. Yuuki was what kept me going while I was reading Volume 2 (I put VK on hold after Vol 2), she's the cutest girl I've seen in a Shoujo and I also agree with Ria; her transition to animated form was far from perfect.

The music and Seiyuu's were the best part. I liked both the OP and the ED (some of you seem to hate the ED); DEEN doesn't put a lot of effort (because of their budget) into their ED animation/art, so I only judged it on the song itself. I suppose I'll stick to this anime for now. I don't really feel like returning to the manga, so I'll stick around to see if the plot gets any better.

I never heard of this before, so i have no prejudices.
Well, normally I have no problem with shoujo shows.

But this was rather boring?

OP and ED were good, but the only 2 interesting characters were this Zero-guy and Kaname. The girl was kind of annoying and the show felt a bit like D.Gray because of that chairman. Animation was ok, but I felt nothing new. Pretty generic storyline so far. The comedy was not funny and made my impression of this even worse.

I think I will watch a few more episodes, because you should not judge a show only by the first few episodes. There seems to be much hype about this, so maybe the story is getting much better?

Not really my cup of tea, but I'm going to wait a few episodes and then see if I will keep it or not. The character designs where ok and like the humor to. But like Forever just sayd, didn't seem like much action yet. This series is well known thou, and loved by many it seems, so I keep up good hopes ^^
