Basically anything that makes you uneasy even though it shouldn't.

I don't like watching live camera or cctv footage, especially if it's actually live while i watch it. Sometimes my mind thinks about how "what if i see something happen on here that gets caught on camera"

Also, i don't really like the weather alert radio sound. Scared me since i was little. No reason why, but i also get anxious when i get alerts about a local emergency like an amber alert

Alarm Clocks. The loud beeping digital ones. Yeah, definitely, a loud heart attack inducing jump scare is the perfect way to start the day.
My waifu is the most wonderful waifu. Mai Valentine.

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by

I used to have this fear as a kid that gravity would stop working on the earth and I would somehow fall into the night sky. Sometimes when I'm laying in the grass looking up at the night sky, I still kind of get the heebie-jeebies. XD

I always fear losing possessions I carry around, like my phone, wallet & keys as I have dropped them at times and I've seen other people leave them behind dozens of times. I often pat myself down to feel for them and I keep my phone in a death grip if I'm holding it. I sometimes scare myself if I don't feel them at first though.

I fear door knockers at nighttime, as I'm never expecting anyone at that time of night and I'm very unlikely to answer the door at the best of times. The last people I got were very persistent.

I also worry about being too far away from home or getting stranded.

Death.

Physical death.

I know when the time comes I'm gonna just return to the spiritual plane I came from, and my original body. I still recall them both. But the dreadful feeling attached to death is nonetheless as strong as ever. Clearly, being too long trapped in this wretched human body with its irrational self-preservation instinct has corrupted my mind somewhat.

real charcoal or those nasty ass chemical 'briquettes'?
there's a good reason to be scared of the latter...at least of eating anything cooked over it

Low key Loud sounds, I have Ringing Ears from past Concerts and accidents where I didn't react on time

I just live with moderate caution staying away from any source of loud sounds (like construction) since I don't want to make it worse

Random and irrational fears that I have is standing in front of a window and getting shot (not sure what caused this) and - ever since I heard about that one mall in South Korea - being inside of a building with terrible infrastructure that collapses on me.

A more rational one I have is the thought of awful people doing awful things and being able to keep walking around afterwards. For example, when I hear that someone was able to escape an abusive or horrible situation, it's good for them, but then I think about how that person is still out there most likely doing it again to someone else. It doesn't sit right with me.

@bucciest Bullets and windows are not an irrational fear depending on where you're from, sadly. Stray bullets are deadly, I always dock/get on the floor if I hear anything similar to gunshots.

OMG, I used to have PTSD from them (okay, that's probably not what it was, but I don't know how else to name it). Whenever I would hear similar beeping during the daytime, I would break into a cold sweat. It took a while to go away even after I stopped using that kind of alarm clock.

I am concerned over the gradual and unnoticeable disappearance of customs, opinions, styles, and values from the past because they have either been forgotten or evidence of them existing is fading, so, we'll never know a unique thing that has existed despite having had the opportunity to save/preserve/scavenge it. In reality, some of those things probably don't matter much.

I'm afraid to go to sleep without praying, it may seem very strange because I'm not exactly a religious person, but I was raised in a Catholic family and I intended to be a priest (I didn't follow that path), I feel like I need to keep trying to communicate with God or whatever higher power is out there.

I'm also very afraid of developing diseases like ALS or dementia, Alzheimer's... diseases are very scary.

@Absurdo_N Same, also used to pray every night when I was religious as a kid. I feared that my family members would randomly die if I didn't keep it up. One night I just stopped though. also became agnostic a bit after. now that I think about it that sounds kinda like ocd but I dunno.

Also have pretty bad health anxiety. I fear dementia too but my main fear was rabies and prion diseases and stuff like that. the idea that I could accidentally be exposed to something and get a disease that has a near 100% chance of killing me freaked me out. I also fear dying a lot in general but now I just push the thought away when it comes up.

I try to eat healthy and I do workout 5 days a week to try to stay fit. Everytime I eat food that is considered "not healthy" in the back of my mind I think "don't eat that stuff, you will get some kind of sickness in the future." I know it's weird and it doesn't happen all the time but I do think about it sometimes.

@Galletita Yeah, unfortunately it isn't an irrational fear depending on where you live. The reason it's irrational for me is that I think of it in the context that someone is outside with the intention of shooting me when I pass by a window, which is silly because there isn't any reason why there'd be an assassination attempt on my life.

@W3TFT I've felt similarly before, too.

Also, there's this general idea that humanity is better than it once was and is making an upward progress over time, but I've always thought there's ebbs and flows, and wonder sometimes what great strides people made in the past that have been lost and forgotten throughout history (usually in terms of culture, but it could apply in other ways).

the history behind the Myth of Progress gives a hilarious look into human stupidity
not to mention we're just one world war or global cataclysm away from the undoing of all that 'progress' and probably a return to classical barbarism

@bucciest I'm of the belief that there were times/places in the past where humans/society was indeed better in a *certain* way. But overall, I think the progress that has been made is good.

I hate explaing to people why I have a fear of real Christmas trees since it’s such a long story. In short, found out I was allergic to them and my parents didn’t believe me, then found out they’re huge fire hazards and I have pyrophobia

They arent really that bad of fire hazards considering LED Christmas lights are a thing.

This is why I carry my wallet in my front pocket not my back pocket because I can feel it better. Had to get a slim wallet so it wouldnt bulge.

I get kind of anxious being farther from home too.

As... silly as it may sound, I get an uneasy feeling by looking at satellite images of some parts of google maps, specially if I look at the other terrestrial planets and moons...

Maybe it's existential dread.

Lights aren’t a problem thankfully, it’s when it comes to watering them. Once they get dry, they’ll ignite and the fire spreads fast, iirc, I saw you would only have 30 or so seconds to get out of your house.

@Tawaney This is a thread about weird/random fears. The answers would be different and much more serious if the topic of discussion was along the lines of what you're thinking, but it's not.
