I had two instances:
In Ruri no Houseki, our protagonist is initially a gyaru who has a gyaru friend-group, but over time starts getting deeper into hobbies you wouldn't associate with gyaru. Normally I would think that when she talked about repairing an old radio, it would probably the "breaking point" to her old friend and she would stat to want distance after that... but she actually went out of her way to help her.
I related this to my doubts on whether my love for stuff is "real" or "performative", but this episode kinda reminded that people, before being their labels, are people, and that them being people takes precedence over any label. Ruri and Aoi aren't gyaru because they're trying to be, but rather because the term simply better describes what they already are, so there should be no issue for them to also be into stuff that doesn't fit that mold.
Also kinda reminds me on how I began to have a healthier relationship with my personal politics when I noticed "Wait, I don't defend this 'because I'm a progressive', I defend this because I'm me".

The other one was finally relating to Wonder Egg Priority:
The story was about our protagonist, whose only friend killed herself. Over the course of the story, however, we learn that she was no friend at all, was an awful person who was only using our protagonist for her own personal gain. Yet, at the same time, we learn that even that deception was able to "save" our protagonist from killing herself in another timeline.
I remembered this when recently I was reminded that a certain YouTube video that "saved me" at a certain time in my life was made by a massive grifter that, for all that I know, might not have believed a single word in it.

Well, that technique that Soujiro Seta from Rurouni Kenshin uses when he taps his foot twice before using his signature attack actually works for guaranteeing good balance in real life martial arts or just when you need to stand on one foot without feeling like you'll fall over somehow.

"Have you related something that happened to you recently to any anime?"

My main method is specifically choosing anime which is unrelatable. I would hate seeing me or aspects of my personalty in fiction.

I mean, sometimes I stumble upon such characters (not recently) and may even like the parallels, but that's rare an unintentional.

An acquaintance described something that happened to him and it reminded me of something that happened to Asuka in Evangelion.
