any manga readers know which chapter this episode ended on? I tried googling but no results came up so if someone can tell me I will be thankful

Recency bias aside, this is genuinely one of, if not the best romcom I’ve ever seen. I really can’t think of anything else off the top of my head that has had everything I’d want in a story like this does not relying on fanservice because it didn’t need to! The characters were amazing enough on their own and this is one of the shows where I NEED a harem ending because all of the girls are amazing and I can’t stand to see any of them lose. Season 2 PLEASE.

I LOVE how this finale was just as much about Sakura as it was about Miwa. Sakura’s backstory learning to love shogi, bonding with her grandfather and using it as an outlet to escape her academic struggles is so sweet. I imagine anyone would struggle to deal with things when you’ve been told you’re really good at something your whole life, and it’s the ONE thing you truly excel at, and then this girl just comes out of nowhere and destroys you like it’s nothing. “Why does she have everything I don’t” hurt so much. Especially when you realize Miwa didn’t have the loving family dynamic that Sakura did.

What’s interesting though is that flashback showed Miwa has always noticed Sakura. She’s always seen her as someone worth playing and getting to know more about and I think in a way, Miwa envied the pure passion and joy Sakura has in her shogi whereas miwa just got into it because she’s good. They didn’t explicitly say that ofc, but I doubt Miwa would’ve stuck up for her when those girls were bullying her had she not truly been interested.

Of course Sakura was always gonna lose, but she’s still a winner for pushing Miwa further than she’d been pushed in years and renewing her love for the game. Also, am I tripping or did she not just basically confess her love for Miwa there? She wants that “leading role” in Miwa’s life’s sounds like we got a Yuri route, chat?? Let’s goo lol

The fact Yu is the first person Miwa runs to celebrate with after the win is sooo cute AND A KISS??? The way she caresses his face and the height difference I love them so much lol. Poor Kazuki and Niko been getting cucked all arc long lol, luckily those Americans showed off so Miwa could play it off.

Seeing Miwa kiss her sisters made my heart so warm. Honestly, even with all the great romance stuff in this series, the best part of it is Yu restoring the family connection the sisters had been lacking for so long, turning them into a proper family again is his greatest accomplishment and exactly why my goat deserves the harem. His mom would be so happy for and proud of him. Loved every moment of this and can’t wait to start reading it.

Miwa's final match, as much as it is for Yu and the other sisters to fervently support her to the very end, this is the time to make it big winning, or go home losing.

The last few matches of the Keika Title where Sakura has reigned the first 2, the lookback on Sakura's life has been one of colour ever since she's introduced to Shogi by her fervent grandfather trying to relate with her, so much so that since then, the game itself became her very strength. That is until Miwa entered the scene to give her a resounding defeat and even stood up for her at times when she's at her worst, and from then on, the friendship between the prodigy and the weirdo is born, from an inspirational and a professional standpoint. And it's from that point on where Miwa evens out the playing field, going to sudden death at Game 5.

All Yu, Kazuki and Niko can only do is to do their respective roles well in hopes that Miwa would make the win, and she eventually made it enough to retain her title. However, it's her expecting Yu's congratulations and compliments to give him her forehead kiss that she did with the treat the last episode, though it sure doesn't slide with both Kazuki and Niko that it's just a "random" kiss of international customary terms. From then, life may have returned to normal, but the relationship between Yu and the Mikadono sisters is just getting better by the moment.

For now, it's an open ending of all things, but there's always the manga to go back to to continue the story!

What a breath of fresh air having a rom-com written by females, that understand the formula a whole lot better.

decent romcom. of the three FL arcs, i liked niko's the best.

if there was one stand out thing that i liked from this show was the music, i really enjoyed it.
