I'm watching 42 anime at the same time. Do you think it's too much?

39 of them are completed anime, 3 of them are ongoing, I watch 1 episode of 6 anime every day, 1 episode of 42 anime every week

As a total amount of anime, that's less than three hours a day...so that's not too much.

Limiting yourself to one episode of a completed anime a week is your own choice. Personally, I'd rather have fewer series on the go and get through them before moving onto another, but this might work for you and how your enjoyment comes about. If you're somebody who needs a lot of variety to avoid boredom and can mentally juggle casts and plot points of 42 shows on the go, that's impressive.

I watch a lot of seasonals but limit myself to <5 completed series at one time. That's my mental limit. 😂

clickbait title. you are not watching 42 shows at the same time, you are watching them one after the other.

come back when you have 42 screens up with differen shows and you are actually watching them at the same time.

For me, yes (my limit would be around 20).

But as long as you’re enjoying yourself, go for it.

I don't think I've ever done more than 15 anime ( with at least one episode a week) at the same time personally.

42 seem quite time consuming, but as long as you're enjoying yourself why not :)

If it works for you, sure it's not too much
Personally,i couldn't handle that many shows regardless of the schedule i'd pick,i wouldn't really enjoy all the shows and would feel lost quickly

Casuals will watch 500 episodes of One Piece in a month so it's not too much.

I would watch that many anime at the same time only if they were seasonals (but I drop about half of the ones I start watching, I usually complete 15-25 seasonals). I guess you can imagine that all those completed anime are like currently airing seasonals.

Some talented people can memorize and add hundreds of numbers at the same time, so yeah, I can believe you can pull off 42 anime. For me though, even if I had the time, rushing and blending that many shows at once just makes me feel like I’m losing the experience (poor digestion).

Depends on how much free time you actually have in life to consume Anime...

Back in the mid 2000s watching 3 hours of Anime a day was not a realistic thing for me... I had just started a new career, had a daughter with my wife, and was extremely busy with other shit in my personal life that prevented me from even sometimes consuming even a single Anime episode even once a week...

Fast forward to today... I am in my late 40s now, my daughter is already in her 20s living in Japan with relatives and has already started a career of her own and even engaged to someone currently, my wife is extremely successful with her own career traveling around the world so I only get to spend actual quality time with her alone only a few times a month, and I am currently self employed and even have others employed under me. Currently I can afford to watch even up to 5 hours a Japanese Anime a day every day if I actually wanted to, because I have way more free time in my life right now than I use to when I was younger.

further more, unless one is constantly only watching Japanese Anime every day, where that is basically their life and they do nothing else with their life, then what you are doing pales in comparison...

So it’s less about the number of shows and more about whether Anime is getting in the way of your real life. If it starts eating into responsibilities, even 3 hours a day could be too much. If it fits into your life without problems, then your current habit of consuming this shit is fine.

yea obviously i only watch like maybe 3 shows at a time because spreading them to thin will make them take forever to finish.

If you can follow 42 stories at the same time, that’s fine. I can watch multiple anime simultaneously, as long as they’re different enough from each other. If I were watching two battle shounen or two isekai at the same time, I’d start mixing up the details of both series.

I'm watching 63 seasonals, so maybe I'm not the one to answer the question. Enjoy your anime :D (even if it's hard sometimes)

That imo is insane lol. I'm watching 8 seasonals at the same time (9 before Takopi's Original Sin ended) and even that feels excessive sometimes. For completed anime I like to only watch 1 at the same time, I like to focus myself on what I'm watching.

If you can keep them all straight in your head I guess it's fine, but for my taste watching a double digit amount of anime at once is madness.

That's too much (for me). I only watch 2 episodes per day and 3 if I'm daring.

(Some would argue it's not even 1 but 0.)

For me personally yes. But if you're able to remember and follow along most of the info you're consuming then I don't really see an issue.

I cant remember what was in the last weeks episode once I hit 20th seasonal anime, how tf you people manage watch so many simultaneously? I'm limiting myself with 15 seasonals now, and if I'll hit the limit I'll just binge the ones that got left out.

I usually watch one episode from 4 different anime a day...that seems to be sufficient and easy to keep straight. I also have a life so I try to find a healthy balance.

To be candid and honest 42 is insane but 42 is also the answer to life, the universe, and everything...so there is that.

There's no "too much" Anime as long as you either 1) actually enjoy it, 2) not being forced to do it,, 3) not harmful to you.
And the way I see it, 1 episode of 6 Anime per day is actually not that bad. It might even be a good way to watch excessive amount of Anime in one go as you get to control the pace of how you watch them.

TL; DR: As long as it's not harmful to your health, I don't think there's a problem.

if you're able to keep it straight in your head then maybe? a little excessive but eh, aren't we all?

you do have to keep track of character names, locations, plot, events, etc. for all of them and that usually adds up. I'm the type of person to forget what happens in a seasonal after a week so i could never do what you do lmao

I don't like to have more than ten shows as "Currently Watching", but I'm not bothered by others putting the whole season line-up on their list.
