I would say to watch the anime first through One pace, which is what I am doing, and then when there are no more chapters of the anime done, continue with the manga.

As some one who recently started One piece and wasn't really intrested before starting. I can say One piece has the ability to make you invested even after 100 episodes.
I can't judge the Manga nor One pace, but i can say you have to watch a few(first few character introductions) episodes to really judge and decide if you like it or not.

Depends on the person. Most people don't like to read manga. Imo I would recommend most people to watch pre timeskip anime and post timeskip in manga.

Manga is probably the best option and then double back for the anime, if you are truly neutral between the two. Depending on the release of the new show, it might be worth reading and then waiting to watch the show then

I’ve personally never watched One Pace, but I’m sure many in here will recommend it as a far superior option, but remember that the existing slower paced anime is still one of the most watched anime of all time. One Pace just gets to the point quicker

I like this advice. I watched up through Fishman island and when I lost a little steam, I read up through the end of egghead. Now I’ve doubled back to the anime and am halfway through Wano, but that post timeskip manga was so much faster

I'd say it's best to read the books then watch the anime, especially because of how long the anime is you'll be able to enjoy it without the suspense of what comes next. I am at about chapter 990 in the manga and just finished ep 763 in the anime. Reading then watching actually helps because I'll forget something that happened in the manga and then I'll see it again in the anime "shortly" after

Steps to watch one piece for beginners
1st Watch Netflix’s live action
2nd Read the colored manga on mangafire or irl from baroque work to post Sabody arc
3rd watch wano arc to the current arc (Don’t worry about skipping so many arcs, they recap it in Wano

I would say anime because 100+ mangas would be hella expensive and take longer

If I talk about the anime, I finished it once as One Piece and now I'm watching it again as One Pace and the Pace version is better.

Reading the manga is a lot faster than watching the anime. I would recommend reading it

If I could do it again, anime until Thriller Bark, and then everything from Thriller I’d read. Idk why, that’s just when I personally felt a drop in quality and pacing more so than previous arcs.

The Shonen Jump+ has it all free (and official). It takes a lot longer to watch 1000 something episodes than 1000 something chapters.

So many pussies saying watch this arc, skip that, continue here, then go with One Pace. At this point y’all need a travel visa before starting the next arc.

You an anime guy? Go start now and consider it a long-term adventure, not a weekend fling.
You a manga guy? Go read the manga, panels will turn faster than Luffy eating meat.

Since most of the anime is a poor adaptation and everyone ends up jumping to the manga I'd say is better to start straight with the manga.

i really like the anime! i’m about to enter into post-timeskip, which i hear the pacing is utterly horrendous for. im not too worried about that though, lol, i can get through bad pacing.

my recommendation is if you’re really worried about pacing, just read the manga. but if you want to be really immersed into one piece, i’d say watch the anime. toei makes some odd decisions with the characters and the art sometimes, but if you’re not worried about that, then go for the anime! one pace is certainly an option, but i personally don’t prefer it.

just, for either route you go, don’t skip any arcs (unless it’s purely filler, though g-8 in the anime is good). it kind of defeats the purpose. skypiea, thriller bark, and even long ring long land set up stuff for later arcs, and especially with skypiea the stories are great. i get that people want to get caught up, but i personally think these arcs are a lot of fun!

I actually read the manga after the anime and it took me a month to catch up, Back then the manga was around the wano arc.

One piece chapters are relatively short and easy to read as like most shounen manga.

I also started one piece anime but it was so slow it took me around one month to reach ep 45 arlong was such a stretch I thought it will take 1 year for me to reach alabasta where one piece actually starts showing levels but then i thought I should check the manga and omg the manga was so much better i reached alabasta in 5 days manga is better fs I'm on alabasta rn but I think that the anime before time skip is ummm don't wanna say it but it's boring to watch those long frames where nothing is happening just trying to increase the run time but things change after time skip . So at the end i'd say u can take my route read till time skip then switch to the anime or just read the whole manga and if u don't enjoy reading manga then one pace is an option (i didn't knew about one pace that's why I watched the original but as now I'm reading manga not gonna check one pace so idk) just read and watch staring 2 or 3 ep/ch u will get the idea what u should do
Hope this helps ๐Ÿ‘

i didn't know about one pace at first so i watched the original but it was hell sry i can't even glaze atp ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฅ€ so i switched to the Manga after completing arlong park and it's way better and actually good i thought that I'll switch to the anime after reaching time skip but to my suprise people claims that post time skip is just better animation and the pacing becomes worse if it's true than sticking to manga is the best option ig and as now I'm enjoying manga i don't think i'll switch to one pace

@SS_ICHIGO I think One Pace is a solid option for those who are anime-only persons and don't usually read manga, but what you did is also pretty good, a friend of mine didn't know about One Pace either when he started so he read the manga and he sticked to it like you. Both options are nice imo, but if you're an anime-only guy then I'd recomend seeing it through One Pace

I really don’t understand people that say you need to skip something. At this point just don’t bother getting into One Piece at all lol.
Both anime and manga are awesome and they are different enough that you won’t be bored reading/watching through it again, especially if you are doing one well after the other.
I’m watching anime in its original form with all the movies and OVAs + reading manga. It’s not that slow at all. So I recommend just doing both and with anime I don’t recommend doing One Pace or anything like that

manga. you'll catch up faster. The anime around the 400/500 mark really starts having too many eps where literally nothing is happening other than characters just standing around talking, or flashbacks just to pad the run time. It gets annoying real quick when I was able to finish an arc in the manga in a couple days compared to the weeks it takes with daily watching with the anime.
Only reason i'm watching it is because im watching with a friend.

i'll never get that either. unless youre skipping filler that has nothing to do with the actual overall story, if youre skipping arcs like Skypiea you're not a fan of One Piece, you're just a casual watcher.

yeah yeah I get it it's hard to read manga for some people it was also hard for me though I tried to read many mangas when I was new but it was hard for me then I got to know about manhwas so I tried solo leveling manhwa and damn that thing was good then ofc things changed like vagabond was solid . so now i kinda get into manga it's easier and more convenient also but for anime only people one pace gets the job done fr

Manga, this is the fastest way to be caught up to the story and then once up to date the person can switch to the anime if they want to current episode since once up to date with the source material there is no need to watch adaptation from the start. Also for those people that understanbly so series may be long for them but does not want to read I recommend waiting for wit piece considering the staff have confirmed if this will be successful they will turn this in to long running series.

@EduElMaxim0 One pace is horrible, they have such toxic mentality of "everything not in the manga thus needs to be removed" to the point of removing actual scenes in from the anime to then replace it with manga panels which is very laughable and embarassing. Also they do not understand that there will be always changes and some brief original scenes due to manga and animation medium are entirely two different mediums with different storytelling aproaches that simply requires some changes and adding some brief original scenes in order to convey the story they are adapting effectively in the medium they are working with and that is the case with every adaptation based on the source.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/hncZtX2Y_MM

Spoiler alert they have not learned anything and how they butchered vincent chansgard work in luffy vs lucci rematch of egghead arc part 1 beyond recognition to the point of insult the hard work this animator have done. I sincerely hope one pace will be taken down.

As many have said, reading the manga is the best way to experience it for the first time. The way I did it was watch the anime through Thriller Bark, and then switch to manga. But I would suggest also just reading Thriller Bark, for me that’s when the pacing really started taking its toll.

So watch through Post-Ennis Lobby and then switch to the manga.

I have since gone back and am now watching the anime from where I left off and staying up to date with the manga. It is a story you will want to experience again and again. Just start it.

I'd say anime up to the timeskip (around episode 500), then switch to manga so you don't waste your life with flashbacks
