How do you think a total anime newcomer would react if they watched the anime in your favorites?

New
Are any of your anime "Beginner friendly"?

Most of my favorites, i guarantee would give people a "You're such a weirdo" look. (Sunohara House, Watamote, Monster Musume, Dragon Maid, Please Teacher)

Azumanga Daioh and Strawberry Marshmallow are pretty normal but i can definitely feel like people would judge them a little bit

Yugioh is probably the most beginner friendly of anything in my favorites.
My waifu is the most wonderful waifu. Mai Valentine.

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by

Generally, I'd say "yes."

I think these shows are friendly to beginners because they're easy to watch and can appeal to slightly broader tastes:

Restaurant in Another world, Samurai Champloo, Initial D, Dragon Ball, Lupin III: the castle of cogliostro, and Shirobako

After watching Higurashi they stopped watching anime for a while. And they will avoid villages.

Edit: And after giving anime a second chance, they watched Made in Abyss. Now they think I like crying and screaming children who agonizes over their pain. Great.

I think most of my favs are pretty beginner friendly except Mushoku Tensei (Rudeus' character and his flaws could make people not like it), Wonder Egg Priority could be too weird for some beginners and Heavenly Delusion for similar reasons.

Well JJBA, Monogatari series, Gintama and Brothers Conflict are surely not beginner friendly. Hellsing Ultimate? No idea, maybe too gory. Ashita no Joe 2 is too old for most beginners.[Is it "too" or "to" lmao? XD My grammar is all over the place sometimes]

Monster gets a pass, same with Akudama Drive and Orb, I'm not sure about Id:Invaded tho

1. Well I’d want them to start at season 1 and not 3 for haikyuu
2. Well death note is usually considered a starter anime so I think they’d want to see more
3. I think watamote is really just a media that depends on what type of person you are and imo can’t really measured by the anime beginner-veteran stick
4. Idk about starter but I don’t think theirs anything in madoka that’s hard to swallow for most audiences it even made a tiny reference in Euphoria.
5. Devilman crybaby, Definetly not for everyone I think it’d scare off quite a bit but I don’t think the content in general is anything more violent or sxal than what we see in the west

It think they might like all of my favorites anyway... Gintama is a full of bathroom jokes and nice proverbial episode titles. And Sore ga Seiyuu! (Seiyu's Life!) has a good story.

Depends on the stuff they've watched and like outside anime, I guess.

A fair share of my favorites would probably get me either weird looks for their more perverted content (Mitsudomoe, Kill la Kill, Hensemi, Yuri Seijin Naoko-san), and most of them probably wouldn't appeal to a lot of people because they're too far away from the battle shounen most "normies" seem to associate anime with. I could see most people enjoying Akage no Anne though, and depending on their tastes outside anime I think a lot of people could enjoy Ongaku or FLCL. Azumanga Daioh and Makasete Iruka are pretty safe, too, as long as the person doesn't have a thing against cute girls, though like you said some people might look down on men who like anime in that realm. Yurumates could be good too but I think a lot of people would be thrown off by its cheap animation.

I think my fav are beginner friendly, but I'm not so sure about The Emience in Shadow, it's kinda Ecci will this turn them off?
Or something like The saga of Tanya the Evil is this beginner friendly?

Mine mostly require good levels of imagination and media/television literacy, plus an appreciation for new things which need thought. So it would depend on whether the viewer had those qualities.

Sometimes, I regret putting the Nausicaa movie on there because I'd immediately suffix it with insisting people read the manga afterwards. But it is a better introduction for the uninitiated because the manga can get quite complex and is a lot more violent.

Love Live Superstar is pretty simple to understand and approachable.

JoJo - I think this would get approval

Devilman Crybaby - Probably not? There's a number of people that the violence and sex would turn them off.

Monogatari - Lol, lmao

FLCL - I think this would get approval, Adult Swimcore shows should be fine

Cyberpunk - See Devilman but to a lesser extent. This one is like a 50/50

Kaguya-sama - I think this would get approval

Kill la Kill - Too perverted

FMA2003 - I think this one would go down well. If we're assuming they came fresh out the womb with no anime experience, they don't have Brotherhood to compare it to and I think 2003 would do well for that sort of audience.

Urusei Yatsura 2022 - I don't think there's any objectionable material (unless they ask why Lum's in a bikini) but I saw a lot of people calling the comedy unfunny or outdated so idk if it'd connect with a lot of newcomers.

Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction - As long as they can gel with the artstyle and the characters looking like that, I don't see why not.

I'm pretty confident I can anticipate their reactions with high precision because the genres that fascinate me are independent, art animation, avant-garde, experimental, and students' assignments.

Depends on the beginner, I guess. Perfect blue is a psychothriller that could just as well have been a hollywood movie. Planetes is a hard science fiction series that could be kind of a prequel to The Expanse. Monster could also work, especially for a German of my age or older (the setting is instantly recogniseable and even though there are some glaring mistakes, it captures 1990s Germany pretty well).

Well most of them are pretty okay for beginners. Warau Salesman and Kuuchuu Buranko are not and I know it. Both are very specific and are not for most people. Salesman is dark humour and Kuuchuu is just kinda weird.

I should prolly update my faves a bit tho as NGNL isn't that special to me anymore, it's good but not really a fave anymore

I assume it would be a combination of asking me "What's wrong you?" and "Are you okay?"

I assume Kenshin and Mob Psycho would be the most accessible.

I think anyone could just pick up and start with any of my favourites... The only ones I am not sure on would be Arakawa Under the Bridge and Maaaaaybe Sakamoto desu ga, both are surreal but Arakawa is maybe a more "anime" surreal than Sakamoto is...

My favourite animes are super beginner friendly that all of my friends get into anime by watch these shows.

So I highly recommend new people to try it. It's cozy and joyful.
I need somebody who can love me at my worst
No, I'm not perfect, but I hope you see my worth
'Cause it's only you, nobody new, I put you first
And for you, girl, I swear I'll do the worst

If you stay forever, let me hold your hand
I can fill those places in your heart no else can
Let me show you love, oh, I don't pretend, yeah
I'll be right here, baby, you know I'll sink or swim

Not sure. My favorites are based purely on enjoyment factor. Which mean, you are potentially liable to find 6 out of 10 anime I deem flawed, but still hold in special regard.
In fact, the only anime a newcomer would be highly likely to like is Slam Dunk. And even then, the purist approach regarding the sport, the dated animation and its slow burning storytelling may not be completely to their taste. You know, because average attention span in nosedive.
Perhaps they'd also really like Galaxy Angel. But I admit its dementia absurdist humor is not for everyone's palate. What I personally like is how the cast is as anti waifu as it gets with their glaring personality flaws. They're absolute idiots at times and it's a blast to see.

As for the rest, it'd fly above their head. Utsunomiko is ethereal and spiritual, but as anti escapist as it gets. There is a chance they'd like it just for the cool action scenes, though.
They'd likely find Saint Luminous Jogakuin boring and hermetic. I have a personal relationship to that anime, to the point I even provided revision subtitles from the only available ones. It's bad as a mystery anime, but it handles freedom as theme in such a spirited way I can't help but be conquered by it.
As for Cyber City Oedo, I think it's the coolest and most badass cyberpunk anime ever. Kawajiri has his own grindhouse film directorial touch, either you really like or you despise it.

Out of the 20 show I have in my favorites, I'd say maybe about 5 are beginner friendly.
The rest might be harder to appreciate if you haven't been watching anime or reading manga for some time and don't know the usual tropes and some basic stuff about japanese culture.

Trigun and YYH would go over well, I think. Assassination Classroom is really a 50/50, I've found. The mecha anime are really dependent on the kind of person watching, but Mazinger Z: Infinity is not going to go well. I don't think Bravern would be appreciated by someone who doesn't have context for the bit, either...

Frieren, Saiki K, Toradora, When Marnie Was There, Yuri on Ice and the original Digimon

They are all beginner friendly and go even further with having no fan service (afair, Toradora might have some idk it's been too long).
The only one I wouldn't recommend is the Studio Ghibli movie because it's the least "Studio Ghibli movie" a Studio Ghibli movie could be.
