I'm just going to say this now without a spoiler tag (it's not that much) cause it's annoying me but none of the girls are actually ghosts, the ones that appear to be are some weirder existence that is revealed in Ao's route. The pacing was a bit fast but I'm just happy they're keeping the romance otherwise the ending for this route wouldn't work as well. Hairi and Tsumugi's relationship (from memory) also gets better portrayed in the second half of this route. This route also has a lot of important information to go over in the next 2eps so it's a good thing they went through the confession fast (especially if they want to play all of the insert song from the game in the last EP of this arc) |

I haven't seen the VN or any spoilers but basically, is it like this? Kamome - Wandering Spirit? Tsumugi - Time Traveller? But honestly, these heroines are really cute, and I like them all so far. |

Tsumugi is a lot more complicated, you'll see next ep and Kamome well Ao will explain the importance of that glowing butterfly (and what they are) later in her route (they're a major part of the true route). |

After the Kamome route's rather awkward pacing, I'm very happy with how the Tsumugi route is panning out so far in that regard. It feels perfectly natural so far and not like it's jumping around all over the place at all. The romance between her and Hairi feels perfectly natural even when it's really not been that long that we've seen them together in the show, and that sucker-punch of an ending is a perfect Key moment to set up the reveals of this route. I think this was the first episode in the character routes to truly capture that Key magic at its absolute best. And this isn't even my favourite character route from the VN! |

The way Tsumugi said So-ra-ka-do-ao was so adorable... Tsumugi is so cute. Showing off the girls I picked up on my holiday to my aunt. Why is she calling my mother.... help "Two-timer" Have to say pacing kinda ruined the build up of Hairi and Tsumugi relationship. Good that it happened but could have been done better. Felt very sudden. But still the proposal scene makes it up for it. It was beautiful. And she left..... I see that coming. Next episode going to be another tearjerker ain't it.. Tsumugi's song name "Die Vogelhochzeit" means Birds wedding. Kinda confirms my suspicion about her being a bird. Time travel involved too? Wedding may mean their mutual proposal here. Except the last moment very fun and cute episode. One of the best episode so far. |

Now that I understand that this anime is based off a game where each mystery girl has her own route, watching it makes a lot more sense. Plus I also see there are 26 episodes so a few more routes are coming plus probably some kind of concluding route. I hope they will not all be a BAD END for our MC, because so far it’s not looking too good for him. Yeah I know I’m a little late to the party. |

Summer Pockets, Episode 8 My Thoughts: Hairi Takahara’s relatives and the townspeople can see and interact with Tsumugi Wenders and Shizuku Mizuori. They are real. Can I enjoy an anime romance for more than a few seconds? Summer Pockets’ answer to that is no. Was Tsumugi going to disappear that night, or was it Hairi—by seeing that photo—who caused her to disappear? Event Highlights: Hairi accidentally confesses his love to Tsumugi. Tsumugi confesses her love to Hairi. Tsumugi vanishes at night, the same day she tells Hairi she loves him, just after he sees a photo of her. Even More Thoughts: How is Hairi supposed to spend his whole summer with Tsumugi if he also intends to help dispose of his grandmother's belongings? When does this series take place? I haven't seen any mobile phones, and the phone Kyoko Misaki uses to communicate with Hairi's mother is a rotary dial phone. All Relevant Events: Hairi tells Shizuku that he plans to spend the rest of the summer with Tsumugi and asks her to share the summer with them too. Shizuku agrees. Shizuku asks Hairi if he has fallen in love with Tsumugi. Hairi considers the possibility. Tsumugi overhears them and becomes embarrassed. At the candy store, Shizuku talks about boobs, and the local guys pretend not to have heard her. Kano Tenzen appears to be in love with Shizuku. Shiroha Naruse and Tsumugi are friends. Tsumugi believes they are best friends, but Shiroha doesn't seem to think so. They find the song Tsumugi had been looking for. It is discovered in one of Hairi’s grandmother’s old books, after Kyoko Misaki prompts them to look for it. Tsumugi confesses her feelings to Hairi in the gallery around the lantern room of the lighthouse. She says that since she is leaving soon, confessing her love is meaningless. Hairi sees an old photograph—so old that Tsumugi might not have even been born when it was taken—yet she appears in the photo looking the same age as she does now. After this, the interior of the lighthouse is shown, and Tsumugi is no longer there, even though she was just in that place moments earlier. Off-screen, Hairi says that Tsumugi vanished that day. |

Well I loved Air and Clannad but I'm dropping this as it seems to be aimed at a VERY young audience, probably 6 - 10 year olds would enjoy it. The animation and general production are great though. 6/10 |

But 1) The characters just aren't developed enough to be interesting, just feel very 2 dimensional with no real chemistry 2)simply don't like the sexualised take on these very young looking females. Boob "jokes" in our day and age seems very jaded. Last thing I want to do is say it's a bad show, the op and Ed songs are outstanding and the summery vibe is beautiful. Just not for me is all. |

So this episode was extremely frustrating because it was very boring and also one that ended in a cliffhanger... If I were to title this episode I would go with "oppai and pringles at the veranda". Actually it's titled "looking for things to do", which is also appropriate because nothing happens in it for the most part. The student council girl obsession with "oppai" was cringeworthy. The constant running gag about pringles felt random and tiresome. Tsumugi is basically a one-dimensional puppy who follows everyone around and becomes instafriendz with any stranger who gives her a watermelon candy or whatever, and wants to build a veranda with the trash around her house. At the same time she feels miserable because she's being forced away, but her story lacked drama and was meh, and I wasn't given any reason to care about it. I read in some wiki that Tsumugi is supposed to be 16, but she reacts like a much, much younger girl which makes her look naive, to put it mildly. Her emotional breakdown by the end was just superficial puppy love and "poor me" attitude. She couldn't process her own feelings and left all the work to Hairi, and it was a bit uninspiring and awkward. 8 episodes later we still have zero clues about the actual story. We still have no clue what's up with those butterflies and where the story is going. I'm sorry to grill it, but I find no value in this episode. |

another good episode, i'm honestly hoping this isn't the end of her route because it literally only lasted 2 episodes i'm not sure who wrote this route but i'm not really a fan of the ecchi dialogue & fan service, still good though. and again, the pacing is too quick. it felt a lot slower here but the way they both confessed seemed too fast. 3.8/5 episode |

I feel like things progress too quickly for me to actually be invested and cry in these big moments, but I do know tsumugi is a sweetheart who deserves happiness. I understand it’s a VN adaptation so obviously the pacing is going to be wonky, but it feels weird to have Hairi and Tsumugi confessing after two episodes when we just had the Kamome arc lol. Of course they spent the whole summer together so in universe it makes sense, but as viewers it’s off. Tsumugi disappearing suddenly has me worried. What’s gonna end up being her backstory? We need her to get that concert 😭 i feel the exact same way too, idk who wrote this route but the cheesy ecchi dialogue and fan service is so unnecessary |

@gebraffe This episode is all just setup for the next 2, Tsumugi becoming insta friends is due to something that's revealed later. Shizuku's boob gag is setup for her own route in the Reflection Blue re-release of the game. The pringle balcony also has a purpose in the next episodes. Tsumugi's behavior is also due to the thing that makes her overly friendly cause she believes she shouldn't get her own happiness when she's trying to help someone else find theirs or any age for that matter We have clues, a certain characters behavior has changed ever so slightly. Beginning of ep7 is about to become relevant to this route (and the true) and butterflies are going to get a lot of exposition in Ao's route. Next episode onwards are all going to introduce major things that are relevant to the main story some subtle some not so subtle |

the island is out here playing mind games with timelines, and everyone’s just trying to keep their arcs intact before the island hits the reset button again. Tsumugi's Wish-fulfillment in supernatural form, she was existing because someone willed her into existence like she’s a metaphysical Amazon Prime delivery. And Kamome was here to settle old business like a childhood promise which was collecting dust until she checks it off the emotional closure to-do list, after which she gracefully exits like a side character who knows when it’s time to fold. this island is running on a cosmic save file glitch, resetting like it's stuck in Groundhog Day. The protagonist is Living through every timeline like an overworked time traveler, but don’t worry, he eventually unlocks the route where he gets to keep his memories. |

Taking it as an anime-only perspective, it's really surprising how it went so fast to become lovers which is off-putting. As for someone who played the VN, still, it gets disappointing how they cut a lot and changed the course of events. Makes the story weak which supposed to be an impactful one. Tsumugyu's disappearance should happen right before their planned trip outside the island. They are already lovers and lots of scenarios already happened before the disappearance. Adaptation just cut it to the confession part then suddenly, disappear. Well, yeah, it's a different drama for anime-only. A good revision for a cliffhanger however, there's a great significance in those cut/changed scenes from OG source. If following the OG story flow, present Tsumugyu's disappearance is like a re enactment of the disappearance of OG Tsumugi Wenders before the elopement with her lover (lighthouse keeper). |

@KanekoKTIA Visual novels feature extensive internal dialogue and other circumstantial details that wouldn't translate well into a screen adaptation. If as you say the "pringles and milk" are ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL to the main story then that would be a different thing, but they still seem more like a comedic element than being actually related to the supernatural butterflies mentioned |

@gebraffe Yeah, it's exactly like that in the visual novel. Hairi has a lot more about his feelings towards Tsumugi internally but doesn't really think about the pringle balcony cause he's aware Tsumugi is an oddball and it really does come off as a gag/filler in the VN until Tsumugi says why she's building it (after the disappearance in this ep) which then ties into the place we see at the beginning of ep7 with the monologue, said place being a major location for Tsumugi, Ao who then explains the butterflies and the true routes for Shiroha (major spoiler) and her daughter, if you know you know The scene with the other characters not hearing Shizuku say boobs is slightly longer in the VN but doesn't get any focus in this route outside of a quick gag which I mean it was originally then her added route in Reflection Blue recontextualized it with her having emotional trauma (well a bit more complicated then that with supernatural stuff) and trying to live up to everyone's expectations so much so that anyone who views her as a perfect person (all the other islanders minus Shiroha) won't hear her say something ridiculous like boobs so she uses that to determine if people just see her as a normal person. Yeah that's not essential to the main story but it does play into some themes that happen during the true route (which you have to finish all routes in RF to get the true endings but this anime is based of the original release of the game, minus some minor background things that seem more like references for those who played RF). (fairly minor spoiler) Also adds to the amount of (in her case technically) shrine maiden heroines in the game, there's 5 out of 8 in RF not going to say for base game you'll find that out |

@KanekoKTIA All that is a valid explanation, but it seems brutally disconnected emotionally from the previous Kamome arc (which was great in itself). this way it gives the impression that the heroines are treated as disposable instead of being valued and respected. I'm starting to wonder if the format they chose, rebooting for each heroine, actually makes sense from a narrative perspective on screen because it doesn't have narrative continuity. it feels in this case they are forcing a format that doesn't fit the medium. If they wanted to go with anime, but don't care about structure, they should've released an anthology or ova instead. |

@gebraffe Let's just say, without spoilers, making a one linear/timeline story structure adaption like Clannad in this one won't work, narrative-wise. |

There's a major plot twist in the true route that really needs this structure otherwise said plot twist wouldn't make sense. The visual novel you just play the routes as if they're their own individual story, which in most cases VN routes are and they explain this away with some form of multiverse or you can just have your favourite route be the canon one (if there isn't a true route, Clannad's VN has the multiverse thing but obviously After Story is the canon ending). There are 3 exceptions to this I've played so far, Little Busters!, Rewrite and Summer Pockets, those first 2 have eh and really bad adaptations respectively cause they tried to streamline it when every route in those games are canon, like every route in Summer Pockets is also canon - you'll see. The OP's lyrics are literal (Although they're straight up a spoiler if you connect the dots) |

I don’t usually play vn but I might have to once finished the anime. Seem feel. Is camping a lot of content into 1 ep, I’m not saying it a bad decision as I want to all the route to be adapted in anime but I would really happy if extended each route to be at least 5-6 instead 3-4 ep. Anyways loves this series. |

Takahara!!! How could you turn down Oppai-san’s offer!!! If it were me, I would’ve accepted politely and thanked her for carrying that heavy burden with her all the time, tirelessly and without complaint! You’re heartless, Takahara. If it were Kamome, you wouldn’t have hesitated... And then he rejected her again later! He’s a disgrace to manhood! He’s not even a man! I doubt his very identity—Takahara needs to be decapitated immediately! How could he reject Oppai-san????? Oppai-san is the student council president... and between you and me, she’s the best character so far. But the anime is getting boring—just sad fanservice now. Don’t read my comment thinking I’m happy or anything. I’m yawning right now and scratching my butt like in Gintama—that’s how bored I am. Ugh, this anime is exhausting. I don’t even know whether to praise or criticize it, but my state is like a broken frame... |

Of course, Shizuku would spend her Summertime alongside Tsumugi and Hairi, and the first order to fill the balcony with loads of Pairingles cans, it's good and all, though Shizuku is quite forward when it comes to romance, leaving both Hairi and (especially) Tsumugi embarrassed. At least Tsumugi seems to be content just not thinking of what Shizuku said, and her being the rarity when it comes to appearances, the bubbly girl just does wherever she wants to go, fixing the balcony with Ao, Kanou and the gang, and that becomes the Summer break worth enjoying. Tsumugi even being friends with Shiroha for watermelon bars, she's quite the commonality among the young folks. Shizuku wanting Hairi to get a present for Tsumugi, almost anything the small shop offers is worth one. Though trying to go Hairi's place for all the pervy stuff, Kyouko and Umi welcomed both with grace (except he almost got cancelled for two-timing them lol), and Shizuku ballooning Tsumugi with makeshift boobs using his pillow, welp that's one he would not recover from. The search in the storage room produces a German music book that they would love to sing one of its songs, and their fiery shouts of their names sure got that bond closer than ever. The time spent together showing Tsumugi accepting her feelings to Hairi THIS early, it feels weird, but the more they think about it, the Summer closing on them will produce the heartbreak that she doesn't want to end, so accepting each other now would be better than leaving it open-ended. But disappearing out of sight, without a word? What's going on with this bubbly girl? |

There's no way this is the end of the route - like, the original game only had four! Which I don't see them planning to complete all of them? Would take away way too much time from the original quartet. They gotta go on some sort of search arc or something now. I wouldn't put it past Key, but if there's two routes with deceased girls in them I'm gonna be so friggin' sad. |

Are all the girls in this story ghosts?
@Rom-Com_lover No, they're shallow trope-and-fanservice-vehicles, completely interchangeable except for the hair colors. |
