I was wondering if there was a anime similar to do this? Another reference is Danmachi s4. Is there other animes where the characters actually struggle in a dungeon. Seeing them overcome hardships has been peak for me.

Delicious in Dungeon has many similarities with Made in Abyss and the Dungeon is literally in the title

i dont think you will find an anime thats similar to made in abyss thats going to be even closely as good as it.

world building wise though the only ones that come to mind are attack on titan and land of the lustrous (manga). no dungeon action here but lots of struggling

astra lost in space( has different dangerous planets like the layers in abyss) and just one of the most perfect 12 ep shows.
delicious in dungeon. the perfect dungeon anime.
Madoka magica, Shinsekai Yori if you're looking for similair horror vibes.

Depends on which aspect of it you are looking for.
But personally think Shin Sekai Yori has a pretty similar vibe to it. Could be mistaken though.

It reminds me of The Promised Neverland.
The seemingly innocent suddenly turning into something disturbing and the main characters being kids. At the beginning the setting is very different, but it gets more similar later on.

It’s not a dungeon but I too find it somewhat similar to Girls last tour. Instead of going down , they’re going up.

If you want like a comedy version of Abyss, then you may enjoy Train to the end of the world.

Dungeon meshi has a very different vibe from MIA. MIA felt much more intense and serious, both have incredible world building but way different imo.

For me, there is many side of Made in Abyss, but the most important aspect is its twisted darkness revealed the deeper you are in the anime.

shinsekai yori is the closest anime i can think of in term of that twisted darkness
