Its Science Saru, I've been on their hype train since that Adventure Time episode. They have not missed a single time since then.

Also it looks it might be a more faithful adaptation, I am down for it but I can see it causing some chafing to those who are original film fans or SAC fans (like me) cause she is decidedly less serious in the actual manga.

It is the first animated project with Masamune Shirow's artstyle. I am really positive towards this one.

@KitsuFrost I mean there were a bunch of old OVA's in his style for other works like Black Magic M-66 and Dominion (both killer). As far as Ghost in the Shell, the only animated work based on the style and character of the manga was the frickin Playstation 1 Ghost in the Shell game (which actually rocks and has a great soundtrack).

I'm stoked, it's kind of a travesty how there's never been a series/OVA based on the actual original manga or its style. It's also going to be very funny when it comes out and people who only watched the movie see the characters acting like real, actual characters instead of expressionless robot non-characters who try to hard to act mature. Especially when they realize Batou is actually a big goofy manchild who constantly runs around making :3 faces and enjoys fucking with people.

You are riding the Shirow Edge Train too hard, just like Oshii fanboys who think movie is the ultimate version of GITS ever made, you are two sides of the same coin.

And it's pretty obvious you haven't watched Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex or Ghost in the Shell Arise, otherwise you'd have known all you have mentioned have already been done in those.

It's Science SARU, and while idk if Yuasa himself will direct this, I think there's a very real possibility they won't censor it.

If done right, it will be kino. Heck, I will be surprised if it won't be done right. Just look at it this way: new 2D GitS anime, adapting the original manga, done by Science SARU that has been recently acquired by TOHO. What can go wrong?
