Are there people in the anime industry, including authors of adapted works, that you follow outside of specific shows and are always excited about news of their new work and involvement in a particular project? What was it about them that caught your attention and allowed you to set them apart from other writers, directors, animators, VAs, etc.? VA is a separate conversation, but I personally have also always been interested in following the careers of famous screenwriters, especially if they have written many original scripts and/or are themselves the authors of popular manga or LN. My top is Mari Okada, Ichiro Okouchi, Gen Urobuchi and Jun Maeda. Some their works bring me more butthurt than excitement, but at least sometimes their stories please me more than my favorite adaptations.

For director Tetsuro Araki,Keitarou Motonaga and Seiji Kishi since those 3 directed anime that struck me in my early days and that I still remember seeing their name on screen and be excited for what I was about to watch. For manga Kentarou Yabuki,Lynn Okamato,Saburouta and MAYBE I am following their new manga or manga adaptation. Can't tell for writers as so far none really keep a place in my mind.

I would if there was more time in the world because there are lots of interesting stories or simply developments to how an individual's career evolves. Especially when they're involved in another industry, like video games, and end up working on an anime.

Nevertheless, I don't follow anyone, except I've recently been watching fan-dubbed clips of Yoshitsugu Matsuoka every now and again because the image he was branded with is funny, 'harem king.'

((Archipel, youtube documentary channel made a few videos about individuals involved in anime creation like:

Generally no. But I am watching Aka and Mengo very closely, you know, stuff like their addresses and other private information. In case they decide to do a non canon ending to Oshi no Ko.

I also <333333 Dave Rodgers, does he count?

Yes, all the ones on my Favorite People list + mangaka Ema Tooyama + writer Jun Maeda. I don't always pick up their works though, only those that interest me. I do keep myself updated about their works.

I wanted to let you know that I don’t follow the careers of anyone in the anime industry, so I can't contribute to the topic on this thread.
But to those who do follow the people behind the anime, I acknowledge and appreciate your dedication to following the careers of individuals in the anime industry.
I don’t personally keep up with this aspect of anine, but I admire your passion and the insights you gain from it. It’s great to see that..

Not really, I only know what happens to people in the anime/manga industry with news that comes out here on MAL or on other sites that I access occasionally, some days ago my favorite anime voice actress died and I only found out a long time later that was reported..

I would like to know more, but not that badly. Basically all of these people are just names on MAL, and I haven't come across a good place to really learn about and discuss them. Also, I dislike Twitter too much to join and follow these people.

Not really tbh. I appreciate all the people that work in the industry but I don't really follow their careers, I just ove the watch the shows. At most I've searched for other shows in which certain VAs have paricipated.

Why bother following someone? That sounds totally foolish. Find something better to do lol. Seriously get a life.

I check up on some independent animators from time to time that I like to see if they've produced anything new.

@DesuMaiden Yeah. For me, watching anime is clearly the main thing.

To be honest, not really. Sometimes I come across some news about someone, but I definitely don’t seek it out on purpose.

To be honest, no. But if i liked an anime, i could see the director for example, and see other animes he/she have directed and have an idea of his/her work. However this only happens for animes that i really like/enjoy.
