Is there any chance for a remake of "Angel Beats!" with more episodes? Would anyone else like to see it get a remake?

I genuinely love this series, but I can’t ignore the fact that it had the potential for even more greatness. It has a great story and many great concepts, characters, etc., but it could not execute some of them perfectly, mainly because of time restraints (imo), so despite its unlikelihood, I would love to see a remake with more episodes.

And, lastly, despite all its issues, I love this show.

Ok ask you this question does Jun Maeda have a reason to go back to this work at this point in his career? When you find the answer you will have also the response to your question.

I did say in my post that it was unlikely. I should add this to the title: “Would anyone else also like to see a remake?”

It's not just unlikely, it's more realistic to say that it will absolutely never happen.

We are talking of an Anime Original story, made almost 15 years ago... What is the point of Remaking it ? They already had opportunities to expand their work, such as with the Mangas or the Visual Novels, but they did not, adding only very few informations. That confirm that, for them, the story is finished.

At the very best, you'll get a special comedy episode to celebrate some anniversary, like with Hell's Kitchen, and even that is doubtfull, as they released nothing for the 10 years.

As far as i know it was supposed to have more episodes, but the number got cut down significantly because of some higher up's decision. :((
It's one of my two most favorite anime of all time, I would absolutely LOVE to see a new rendition of it, even though I would be worried if it could make it lose its charm.

I'm not sure of its popularity in Japan as of now, but sometimes I see new figures of Kanade pop out here and there, so?? I think it is a rather loved series. I wouldn't say the chance of getting a remake equals zero.

99.9% this is never getting a remake. But i said for years that this needed more episodes is order to have more fleshed out characters and story. It could've been one of the greats, but it just ended up being good which is not bad.

Hell nah. They cropped an anime that was supposed to have 24 episodes into 13 episodes!! It's so rushed!! Imagine if angel beats had a great adaptation with 24 episodes??

I agree with your thoughts on it. As for a remake, never going to happen. Maeda has stepped away from writing anime, I believe, and I don't think that there would be any impetus to revisit it anyway. It's really unfortunate that it had as few episodes as it did, it needed to be at least twice as long.

1. No, probably not sadly :[
2. One of the few series imo that deserves a remake in this day and age that's chock-full of'm. Last few eps were utter greatness.

Do you guys have a source for this claim ? It's something often brought up in the fandom, but i never saw any source that actually indicates that, and it's not mentioned in Japanese wikis/interview either... The closest thing is Yosuke Toba from Aniplex saying that "13 Episodes is not enough to tell the whole story that Maeda envisioned", which is a common critics made about the Animes Maeda writes.

Only flaw was number of episodes, I wanted at least 12 more, kinda rushed, still in my TOP 10 anime for more than a decade.

I personally don’t see it happening, and I don’t need it to happen. Angel Beats is still one of my favorite anime ever. To me, it’s perfect.

If we were to get more Angel Beats, I’d want Track Zero (prequel) or even Tabisuru Tenshi-chan (spin-off) to be adapted.

I remember reading an article about it very long time ago, that's why it got stuck in my head. I'm not sure if I'd be able to find it right now. xnx

Only if they reveal the stories of the other characters in remake. Otherwise, there is no point in making more episodes. To be honest, the 2010 version will be my favorite anyway.

Since it was originally a late night anime, I think it would be difficult to remake it.

I watched it in real time and thought that that episode count was just right, and I don't think that a longer episode count is necessarily better. If it were to be remade, the voice actors and music might change, and I would not want to see a remake with different voice actors and music.

I hope that someday there will be a time when people who want to see a remake can pay for it and have an anime production company make it.

Nope it is fine , by now it is an avg story n no need for remake. After 5 years maybe FMA brotherhood cud use remake to get new audiences interested plus get better production and anime quality of current times.

I love everything about Angel Beats and the only thing that in my opinion that can be criticised is the limitations the show had and the fact it's an anime only series. I really wish I could see what was originally envisioned before they cut lots of content, especially because I know that it would give so much more context to things like Hinata and Yui being in a relationship or what happened to Kanade. There is so much to expand on but it feels rushed to me, even though it's still an anime I really appreciate for what it did accomplish. There is not another show that makes me feel the same way Angel Beats does, it's extremely special and did so many things right with the soundtrack, character designs, the visuals and so on. I just think that the studio should revisit it as Maeda Jun actually intended because it would be amazing. I know realistically that won't happen anytime soon because Maeda Jun isn't writing anime anymore but maybe one day.

If we ever get a remake i would love for it to cut unfunny humor it has completely or at least reduce it to absolute minimum if it really has to be there and concentrate 100% on the story like it should've been in the first place

Still one of my fav if fruit basket can get a remake then I don't mind to have this back again but I would be more happy if we get a story after their reincarnation i'm curious how they're doing or mc's after journey once angel left him but yeah nothing is impossible.

Does it make sense to remake it? Honestly what does right? People just remake shit for money, they don't really do it for the fans lol. Now would I like it to be remade? no, not really. I think it did feel a like high paced, but I don't mind, it was fine like that. I don't even want a sequel cause I partially liked it for the characters, so no, no remake for me

@aurora_yuuki Every remake could be better than the original, but that doesn't mean it should be remade. Producers will only do that if the investment is likely to pay off, which I think is unlikely in case of Angel Beats, because the original is good enough for today's standards.

I love Angel Beats and hate that half of its planned runtime got axed and put into light novels/manga instead, but I dunno if it should get remade.

@aurora_yuuki The original Spice and Wolf animation looks much more outdated than that of Angel Beats, many people avoided to watch it for this reason, so the remake probably pays off.

@Zarutaku Tokyo Ghoul definitely needs a remake, though. The animation still holds up, but the adaptation was butchered to smithereens. Studio Pierrot did one heck of a disservice to the original manga. So the fans could do with a remake.

And that is not even mentioning the fact that it's one of the best horror mangas of all-time. The manga ought to be served justice.

@Zarutaku Spice and Wolf paid off. Besides, the demand for a Tokyo Ghoul remake was way higher than Spice and Wolf. I'm not seeing how it wouldn't pay off, unless the new studio (if any studio picks it up) somehow manage to make it way worse than the original.
