The people on anime subreddits are the most annoying and..... I don't even speak English well enough to describe how I feel about those guys.

Let's start with anime meme subreddits. They keep reposting the same memes over and over again. They just use different images. A lot of posts are just hentai images disguised as memes. If I wanna see hentai I'll join a hentai subreddit. You don't have to spam it on the meme subreddit. And weirdly enough, MANY people defend Loli Hentai with their fucking life on r/goodanimemes. If you say anything bad about Lolis you'll get double digit downvotes. Why? I don't fucking know.

r/anime is the most bland and boring subreddit I've come across. Most posts are just people discussing individual episodes of an anime. Why would you do that on r/anime? Do that in the sub of that specific anime. The other posts are just posts of trailers, posters, previews. Basically promotional material by the anime studios. Very rarely will you find actual interesting discussions.

Specific anime subreddits. You cannot criticize an anime without being called a hater, being told to drop the show or being told you don't understand the anime. r/OnePiece is literally filled with fanboys who suck Oda and Toei off 24/7. You cannot criticize anything without being told one of the 3 things I mentioned. Same goes for r/Naruto and even smaller subreddits like r/ClassroomOfTheElite. Why tf am I even on the subreddit if I can't properly discuss something? Criticizing something is part of a discussion. I'm not less of a fan, because I dislike some things.

Because of all these things I've left every anime subreddit I was a member of. Of course there are also good posts every now and then. But I just can't be bothered to sit through brainless posts anymore. I'm fucking done with Anime Subreddits.

I love it when a ranter contradicts himself in consecutive paragraphs.

That's because subreddits are:
  • echo chambers
  • insular communities
  • affirmation circles

@katsucats I guess I worded that poorly. What I meant is, that I criticize both. I don't wanna scroll through 50+ random episode discussions of shows I don't even know. Just go to the designated subreddit of that show and don't be dickhead there. I actually never clicked on one of those discussions on r/anime, so I don't know if you can criticize the show there either.

Reddit in general is one of, if not, the worst site I've ever seen. Just a toxic cesspit. You know that meme from Star Wars of Obi Wan when he comes across Mos Eisley and he says "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy". That's Reddit. Most people I know have either quit it or meme on it hard.

Sounds like a typical Reddit experience. It doesn't apply only to anime subreddits, but from what I heard, anime subreddits are indeed among the most toxic ones. Model echo chambers, with many edgy people spreading negative energy, moderated by power hungry moderators. Cool folks are usually hanging around with each other, or just quit one of said subreddits. So I heard.

I'm neutral on Reddit, It has some of the coolest communities i've been a part of. It also has some horrid cesspools like any social media. I just avoid the latter

Yeah the anime subreddits aren't very good, MAL isn't perfect but I much prefer the community here.

Yeah, they are not really good for discussions unless the community is so big that they make another subreddit exactly for discussing.

There is r/Jujutsushi for JJK and r/titanfolk was good for AOT before the rumbling started.

Either way reddit is a waste of time

I got banned from Vinland Saga subreddit for criticizing some nonsensical plot moments and absurd character developments. Yeah, reddits have always been circlejerk echo chambers with small dick obese moderators who have nothing going on in their lives and must instead compensate by living out their internet power fantasy.

Reddit, just like Twitter, encourages echo chamber mentality, regardless of the topic in question. So not really a surprise that you see fanatics and people with lack of media literacy infesting them. The only use it has is some of the art posted on it and some technical and hobby advice. Media discussions are kinda pointless. Its hilarious when I see news sites copy paste reddit posts cause their journalists are such lazy bums to do actual journalism.

Reddit and Twitter are good to view from a far distance, quarantined and with some grain of salt, less you start copying the same type of behavior on other sites and ruin your mental health.

You are not wrong that they all suck ass.

Online communities suck ass in general. If you want discussions of decent quality, you will be better off just starting them with your friends.

imo r/Animeirl is not that bad, but still, just memes no interaction, its hard to find anime forums with good and active users, most of the time is just 1 of the two things

Your first mistake was using Reddit. Porn's the only thing that hellsite is good for.
