As an anime only, I can't wait to see wether this meltdown about the ending was totally justified.
But from the foreshadowing I can see, that it kinda was.

Glad to finally see it's end.

And once the end is here and it's recieved no where nearbas bad as something like Got all the comparisons and the claims that ending ruined AoT or that people hated the ending will finally be put to rest.

Or maybe they won't. There will always be a vocal minority. But it will be easier to prove that the vocal minority is a minority after the ending.

If you liked the lead up to the ending you will like the ending as well. I hated everything that has to do with the show after the rumbling started.

When reading the "final" chapters in the manga I thought the ending was very poor, but the anime breathes life and creates so many spectacular scenes from what were just glancing panels in the manga. The anime has always gone above my expectations. What was a disappointing finale, I feel the anime has a good chance of turning into an exhilarating ending that people will feel like they get.

I mean, the ending from part 3 was pointed pretty clearly to this route.

At most, I can see additions.

Considering what epic hype they are trying to create around the finale, I’m even afraid to imagine what will happen on the Internet and the anime community on this date.

At last, we've learned the date of its premiere. I'm excited to see this episode, especially after how good was the previous one. And well... it will be the last Attack on Titan anime episode, after all.

@RobertBobert I guess there will be still some emotionally unstable folks seething and spreading toxicity over it. Y'know, people like those weirdos who claimed to not care about AoT anymore after reading its final chapter, but cared enough to act like hostile clowns for months on various places of the Internet. 🤣 I can imagine "manga reader elite AoT fans" to crawl outta their caves this time as well and vent over a fictional story by insulting people who has been genuinely enjoying it for years.

It's better to just ignore them and just focus on your own personal experience. AoT anime enjoyers are more chilled in general and you can have a decent convo with them in most of cases. No matter whether the other side shares your point of view or not, there is a way lower chance to meet a mean edgelord among them.

@RobertBobert Oh no no, I didn't want to sound menacing or something. I just know how it was back when S4P1 and S4P2 was airing. Their activity was becoming gradually lesser, but still you could see overly toxic people with obsessive thoughts ordering them to rage over something that had happened many months earlier and wasn't even meant to be featured in the Parts I mentioned earlier.

Possibly there won't be a lot of them around S4P3 final episode's premiere, but who knows. There will be one particular scene that they found as extremely triggering while reading the manga, so I can easily imagine them appearing out of nowhere and just insult chilled enjoyers. Oh, and of course lose to their obsessive thoughts and signal everyone how they are no longer interested in AoT, not at all. 🤡

@Adnash I've been following the manga and anime over an unreasonably long time gap, so it's hard for me to keep up with the development of fandom's attitude towards it. For example, I read about how Mikasa pumped up her abs in prison many years ago and only saw it in the anime a couple of days ago. But from what I understand, the final arc( arcs?) will be a complete change of mood and premise.

Well I was curious about the final final final, and now I know. :)

Without giving any last episode spoilers, can you give any idea of how things have differed in these longer last episodes? From I read above it sounds like it's more about the tone of the episodes, and not so much an anime only ending, ala FMH (the first one.)

Thanks

I've read the manga up until where the anime left off. The Final Chapters part 1 adapts chapters 131-134, and the only difference I can recall is that it skipped over the first page or so of chapter 134, something so brief it can quickly be covered in the next one within a minute. Other than that, it's basically a 1:1 adaptation

Thematically this show is the same in its last two arcs. It's just the atmosphere becomes more serious, and the whole narration resembles more a seinen than a shounen, which Attack on Titan started as. There is also a change of perspective (way bigger one than in the first arcs). However, like I said before, thematically it's still the same and consistent show.

@Adnash Then why were so many people salty about the final arc and the twist about their world? I don't mean the ending itself.

@RobertBobert They are? Throughout the year, long before the final chapter's premiere, I've rarely seen anyone acting salty or even toxic about post-timeskip arcs. It was more like chilled convos (I know, "chilled" and "Attack on Titan fans" might sound awkward, haha) about which arc was better (in most of discussions I remember it was mostly Return to Shiganshina arc vs. Marley arc). Roughly 95% of comments I saw, saying that the twist wasn't that much spectacular or necessary were treated as basically thrashing the series, so their authors were jumped on and called names.

I personally enjoyed the twist and AoT's atmosphere change. What I perhaps not disliked, but felt unamused about, was the whole Paths concept becoming more rational than mysterious. What felt cheap to me was "huge plot twist kino" with Eren in the Paths. It was just an asspull meant to present something shocking, surprising, unexpected. Nothing more, nothing less.

Oh, by the way: we also need to make it clear whether we are going with the official list of arcs, or that one fanmade one that's still popular among many fans (me included). It separates Rumbling arc from War for Paradis arc, while according to the official list, there's only one big War for Paradis arc, serving as the very final one.

@RobertBobert Ahh, I see. That's also a way to separate certain parts of the show, haha. Especially if you are not that much invested into the story or lore. My friend does it as well, so I'm familiar with switching from thinking about arcs from the manga to thinking just about anime seasons. It's even easier when whole seasons or their parts adapted the entire arc, i.e. Season 3 Part 2 adapted Return to Shiganshina arc. Nevertheless, I recommend checking out the official list of AoT's story arcs. Just to broaden your horizons in this field. :P

@RobertBobert Nope. If you are not that much invested into this show, you won't miss much (if anything at all) if you go with anime seasons instead of story arcs' names. It surely is nice to know story arcs and all, but it's not like approaching AoT anime without such knowledge decreaces significantly the amount of fun one can have while watching the show.

Alright

I'm still annoyed at MAPPA carrying this season for too long tho. There was no need to do 4 parts for the final season...
If I had to choose between One Piece and a girlfriend...I think I'll go with One Piece
